Just had lunch at Hopper! Nice and young place, very nice atmosphere and good food. They made their own bread and they serve it with some Italian and Spanish salami and cheese. Simple cafe with excellent coffee. Finding a cafe that celebrates filter coffee is relatively rare in the area, but Hopper is doing just that. They have filter coffee in four different ways, plus all the typical espresso drinks. I tried the Aeropress filter coffee and the regular black coffee. Definitely go with the Aeropress if you want to try a great non-traditional, non-Italian style cup. The coffee tasted light & sweet, yet still deep & flavorful -- it would fit right in with cool LA cafe coffee. The fresh mint teas and in-house baked bread looked really good, too. I noticed a lot of people solo on their laptops, so this would be a solid place to work or hang out for longer. read more

They have third wave quality coffee and great ambience. There's a ground floor with large windows facing the street and a nice loft the size of about half of the square footage of the cafe. I tried their flat white and espresso - both were up to standard but not exceptional. read more

Large, rambunctious, happenin' spot... we're glad we stopped here to sample some truly delicious coffee after a long day touring Rotterdam. Their table service system needs work, but we made it work. this place in rotterdam is a great place to come for an early breakfast. it has a nice rustic interior with one counter with fresh baked goods and a back counter to assemble sandwiches with the fresh bread baking in the back!! since it was early, my bf and i opted for coffee (strong and great black) and an apple walnut bread. i literally could eat a loaf. it was amazing. it was mostly apple and walnut with like 5% bread. that is my kind of proportion! read more

Nice spot with some of the better coffee in Rotterdam, and some of the worse service. Don't get me wrong - some of the staff are very friendly, but none of them are attentive. It's normal to be seated for up to 10 minutes watching the servers attend nearby tables without coming to take your order or see if you need anything, even after looking in your direction several times. Interacting with them isn't awful, just awkward. The food is pretty good though. read more

Hopper also always serves an extraordinary healthy lunch that doesn't break the bank. All the bread and baked goods are freshly made in their little kitchen in the back. If you walk by you'll always find someone kneading bread and adding finishing touches to sandwiches. They offer a great workspace that is quiet enough to actually get work done and with plenty of people watching when you take your occasional break. I just love places that make you feel you are seen and invisible at the same time. Great place to just read a book or write whilst enjoying one of their loose teas and the pastry of the day. I mostly wander in for a latish lunch on a random day off from work looking to find a different atmosphere and for ideas to land. I love their houmous and tomato olive open sandwich, makes me feel healthy and less guilty when I opt for that piece of applecake after (which is delish). The bread is the star of the show - the show that is watching them make the dough and slide the bread in and out of the oven...A little lunchroom of calm and buzz with great food and drink, yet to try out their speciality alchoholic drinks with a friend...is still on the list. Love this cozy little spot! Perfect location and the coffee is consistently exceptional. Yummy treats and breads, large wine menu, great seating. We love the loft for people watching and reading as it's warm and bright and the smells from he kitchen waft right up. Great stop for lunch or a treat between the many museums on Witte de wit, or to warm up after a walk along the water. For people not accustomed to the ordering process here in The Netherlands, you sit down and they'll take your order for drinks, but you'll have to go to he bar to order food and pay. This is my go-to for breakfast or lunch or coffee. Great coffee, which they roast themselves, and a cool selection of soft drinks too. Hopper also serves my favorite ginger beer which isn't found in many other places in Rotterdam. Their breads and soups and sweets selection are also homemade!
