Original estimate was $1800 and he got $900 down and only cleaned the deck (high estimate of $400) but I foolishly agreed. He must have seen me as an easy mark. When I almost laughed incredulously, he called the police to "complain about not paying for services" Even the cop said he was "full of Sh...t" Read my yelp review as he kept threatening (had done that BEFORE not doing any work). I have grounds to sue him but court costs would take up more than he owes me. He is actually scary and uses intimidation when maybe 5% of the work was completed (deck wash) when he demanded full payment and called police. This must be his M.O. in business. City of Buffalo inspections put a STOP WORK ORDER in my house because of Jo permit or license. He has left my driveway a mess and winter is here. I used him naively thinking I could get a good deal using someone who is more of a criminal than a handyman, and now I know why he gave the "great deal". He had no idea what he was doing. My floors were scratched, but original wood, and pretty, and he sanded them unevenly, missing other parts completely, and then slopped so many layers of varnish on, that eventually when those weren't drying correctly, for which he always had a great reason (it's just DUST you're seeing in those photos! don't worry! Tomorrow it will look different" and of course, they never did), so they came out looking like a second grader painted them. He refused to take responsibility, kept trying to say he was "planning to go back and fix them!" but he'd already tried to fix them 3 times and each time they got worse, and worse... And finally, publicly fabricated a story that someone "came into my house and tampered with the floors" as a way to save face. I have notorized statements from my realtor that the only person with any access to the house was Zak and himself and video footage from the house across the street that no one entered other than my realtor to take pictures, the ones enclosed, other than Zak. The man is dishonest, totally unaccountable, and psychologically unstable. He should not be allowed to interact with the public, period, let alone touch their property. Buyer beware: this man is a hack, a liar, and a thief. Absolutely nightmarish experience dealing with him, from start to finish.
