This place is a dream! They have curated the most magical selection of games, art supplies,…read moreclothes, books, and everything you could want for your kids. We have sadly moved away from VT, but we're back for a week every summer, and I save all my Christmas and birthday gift shopping for Jamie Two Coats. It's so hard to have a brick and mortar store these days, and I love being able to see things and decide what to buy, so while some of their items may be a bit more expensive than they would be online, it's worth it to me to support this store. (Many of their items are so special and would be expensive online as well.) Also, I feel so much better about supporting a family-owned toy shop than supporting Jeff Bezos. Also, I never go toy shopping with my kids... I love them so much, but I enjoy the peace of shopping for their gifts on my own!

Way over priced! Like highway robbery expensive. A Melissa and Doug Jewelry Box that my daughter…read morewanted was over $24 and on Amazon it's only $9.99. When I wanted a refund the young cashier girl walked away from the register and said "she'll change her mind again and want it so I would just leave". So annoying it made me not want to give them my business even if my daughter did decide she wanted it. Also you aren't warned that returns are only in store credit. Thankfully the older woman working there did return the jewelry box and gave me my cash back.

Reached out to Matt based on a recommendation from a friend because I needed to repair my wedding…read moreband. I was blown away by the level of customer service I received. After 6 years with the ring it was time for a change, he helped me choose new stones and he even ordered me a few options so I could see them before making a final decision. We decided to go with green gold to redo the setting. Matt is amazingly creative, reasonably priced, and easy to work with. My advice to you: if you want an amazing one of a kind piece of jewelry, stray away from the church street tourist trap and head to Shelburne to see Matt.

I agree wholeheartedly with the website: "Matthew's amazing artistic skills and passionate…read morepersonality allow him to not only create beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry for his clients, but give them an experience they will never forget." Something extraordinary happened on the first day of our anniversary trip to Shelburne, VT. We stopped at Matthew Taylor's jewelry shop, which also was the house where my wife's grandmother lived many years ago. It was open so we were able to go inside. She showed me where they would have Easter dinner, and told me her grandmother loved jewelry, and had given her some. She brought some pieces with her on the trip. She and Matthew talked about the house and town. He was friendly and gracious. I then took my wedding ring out of my pocket; it was in a little box instead of on my hand as it was in pieces due to a failed attempt to resize it by another jeweler. It's a "tricky infinity ring," with a number of garnets. Before we came in, as the sign said, "repairs," I took my ring out of my bag and put it in my pocket, just in case he could fix it. My wife wanted to see it on my hand. A lengthy discussion ensued, during which I assured him that it was worth the risk and I was willing to take it, and he finally agreed to try the first step, to join the ends, after describing various methods. It worked. Amazingly easily, to me. Then the next step, lasering it closed. Then he put a couple stones back in. That left one still be to replaced, which had previously broken in the failed attempt. So he had us look through a tray of stones he had, and we searched for a pink stone to match the pink stones in Denise's bands. He found one and said, "this wants to pop right in." And it did. It seemed effortless, which often is when a master craftsman works. So, in the house of my wide's grandmother, who loved jewelry, and gave her jewelry she wears to this day, this kind and skilled artisan took the time and fixed my wedding band, on the day of our 15th wedding anniversary, and now the ring is whole, and changed, with a connection to her rings, and more meaningful than before. Just like marriage should be. Synchronicity. Peace.

Shelburne, VT - I didn't come here with high expectations, thinking it would just be a supersized…read moreteddy bear store and a fun kiddy activity, but this actually turned out to be one of my favorite places we visited in Vermont. Yes, there is a giant store full of their own branded teddy bears and other stuffed animals, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the sweet factory tour. It's only $5 for adults and is free for kids, and lasts about 20 minutes. You get to see every step of the teddy bear making process - I don't know how I thought stuffed animals were made but turns out it's still a largely handcrafted process, which is quite poignant in this age of mechanized mass production. Along the way you are shown special edition bears and stuffies, prototypes being considered for future release, and the bear hospital. The VT Teddy Bear Co provides a lifetime guarantee on their products, and some of the bears awaiting treatment at the hospital looked like they've suffered massively unfortunate fates at the hands of serial killers or arsonists. Yet the hospital will take them in and fix them! Or send you a close replacement if the bear is beyond repair or the exact one isn't available anymore. I didn't come with the intention of buying anything at all (preferring vintage-style bears myself) but the bear workshop was too cute to pass up, there was no line/crowd (it was a weekday during the school year), and this seemed like a memorable souvenir for our kid for this trip. The elderly lady who helped him make the bear was a darling. There are a few picnic tables outside, so we ate a snack before going on our merry way.

We went few minutes after opening and it was already pretty busy. We bought tickets for factory tour that was scheduled at 11am. While waiting we went around the gift shop. My daughter went to the bear workshop and built her own teddy bear called "Fluffy". The associate was super friendly and patient. Assisted her in every step. It was $26.99 for the bear, which I believe was a decent price. The factory tour is really informative and fun. Got to learn the origin of VTB, their move the current factory, the bear design and making process, as well as fixing the bears that got damaged. They provide lifetime warranty on their bears. There had special edition bears, prototype bears and collectible bears. The hospital section was so cool. Our narrator was superb, explained everything so well with lots of facts and humor. I'd highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting Burlington with kids.
