I wished I had read the previous reviews before patronizing this braid shop…read more Two weeks before getting my hair done at this shop, I stopped by to ask how much it would cost to do cornrows like the existing hair style I had at the time. She quoted me $150 which I was willing to pay. When I did go to get my hair done on a Sunday, the lady said I owed her $200 when she finished my hair. I was shocked! How are you going to go up in 2 weeks by 33 percent? And why was the cost not quoted before doing my hair? I did not want to argue with the lady so I gave her $180 and told her that I would never sat foot in this shop again. She got an extra $30 out of me but she lost a customer. The cornrows were not as nice as I have had done by other hair braider so that is another reason why I will not go back. There are too many African braid shops in Atlanta especially on Candler Road. I would say pass on this one!

I came in on a Sunday and was the only customer in the salon. The posted price chart clearly listed a women's haircut at $35. I requested a simple dry cut with no wash. During the haircut, the stylist used a spray bottle to dampen my hair and later asked if I wanted it blow-dried. I agreed, assuming this was a basic part of the service, especially since most customers would not expect to leave a salon with damp hair. The entire haircut and blow-dry took approximately 15 minutes. Yet, when it came time to pay, I was charged $69--nearly double the advertised price. When I pointed out the posted price chart, the stylist simply responded, "Oh, that's old." If the advertised prices are outdated, it is the business's responsibility to update them and clearly communicate any additional charges before providing services. Customers should not be surprised with a bill nearly twice the advertised amount. I left feeling misled and taken advantage of as a new customer. What should have been a quick, straightforward haircut turned into a very disappointing experience. Transparency and honesty are basic expectations of any business, and unfortunately, this salon failed on both counts. I would not recommend this establishment. There are plenty of salons that deserve your business more than one that fails to honor or clearly communicate its own pricing.

But lesson learned, I'm glad everyone else has had an epic experience here at Ex-elites barbershop and beauty parlor. The salon is clean and spacious. Appointments are strongly encouraged, however they also accept walk-ins. Everyone leaving the salon after being styled looked amazing. I personally respect all of the rules and requirements they have listed on their site, you know what to expect and it's very clear. Everyone was friendly and I received a warm welcome. The stylist are very talented. I really like my passion twists and they still look great 1 week later. Only surprise, was the length of time for this hairstyle. I selected it because I thought it would be quick since it was twists and bra strap length. No complaints, it was still 5 style service. This place's location in the Midtown Promenade shopping center makes parking a cinch. Finally, I rarely have issues getting an appointment when I need one even when booking last minute. Importantly, the staff here take the appropriate precautions for Covid-19. Haircuts are appointment only and patrons must have their temperature checked before sitting in the stylist's chair. All staff wore masks and/or face shields during the two cuts I've gotten here since the pandemic started, and I was even requested to wash my hands prior to my most recent appointment. If you live in Midtown and are in search of an affordable, quality haircut, Axiom is worth checking out.
