Rover Rescue - Trixie : )

Rover Rescue

Please do NOT support this agency.!…read more One of our cats got out. Took a few days to find out it had been picked up by our local Animal Control. After just 5 days they transferred it to a Rescue. The process was so secretive that Animal Control would not even tell me the name of the rescue service. After some serious digging I found out the cat had been transferred to Rover Rescue. They're almost 900 miles away even though we have several rescues within 50 miles. I immediately called Rover Rescue and found out they did have the cat and that it will be going to an adoption event this weekend. They REFUSED to tell me where the event was being held. I wasn't trying to get preferential treatment. I just wanted to have an equal opportunity to re-adopt this cat that has lived with me for the last year and a half and they refused to tell me where it was. Clearly they are not interested in getting animals back with loving families. I really hope it ends up with a good family but it was a stray I took off the streets. It had settled into our family very well. Now they are going to make the cat go through that again. It's also very concerning to me about how secretive the process is, even the name of the organization. Don't know anything about them except today's very inadequate interaction but that level of secrecy is not a good sign.

I can't tell you how much I hoped the rescue wouldn't pick her up and she'd be all mine. But Rover Rescue did come to her rescue. I called them minutes after finding out she had left the shelter. I had to leave a message and I figured I'd get the ball rolling and fill out the application. Kathy returned my call promptly we spoke about the dog. And several days later I picked up my girl from the Vet. Kathy was very helpful and thoughtful with her advice. Foxy came with a leash and a collar and we were given a bag of food to get us started. I love this organization, they do amazing work rescuing IMO the most adorable pooches. I want another one but I don't think Ms. Foxy is ready for a buddy quite yet. IMO the rescue fee is comparable and totally fair. You get a itemized list of all the fees they pay while the dog in their care. You don't have an obligation to pay those fees but it really did show me how much money it does take to save these animals.

Occasional dog walkers don't appreciate being told this isn't the appropriate area for their fur babies, but most people are respectful and understanding. Its a very fragile nature environment and needs our help each and every day.

The Land Conservancy values weeds and sagebrush over dogs and people. It's that simple. They have…read moreeffectively chased me and everyone else out of virtually every single nook and cranny anywhere on the peninsula where one might take dogs to run off the leash, play and enjoy being dogs. Yes, I am aware there are a few (very few) places called "dog parks" several miles away where I may go. That's not the same. It's not even close. For a dog, walking trails with nature and wildlife are not the same thing as some enclosed, mowed grassy area that's sterile and practically bereft of life. I appreciate the fact that someone is trying to protect nature and our native wildlife. In fact I was strongly opposed to allowing the development of the land occupied by Terranea, the Trump Golf course and all of the new homes in that area. But, I feel The Conservancy is off base in this matter. I have three small dogs who look forward to going on their walk every day. In fact, it is the highlight of their day. They enjoy walking at their own pace, stopping to sniff and check things out and playing with other dogs who are also off-leash. They have never bit anyone or caused any trouble whatsoever. I always pick up after them. Always. This morning, I received a ticket for having my dogs off leash at a spot I believe the local surfers call "Palms". It's down a pathway at the end of Stargazer Road, next to a mobile home park for seniors. We've already been run out of Ladera Linda and Friendship Park, so this was the very last place we had to go. Yes, there are signs posted, but there has always been a tacit understanding among the people who live and go there that dogs could be off the leash as long as they weren't hurting anything. The Sheriffs Deputies were very nice and very apologetic. I know there are things they would rather be doing because they told me as much. I also know there are much more important things for them to do - real crimes being committed by real criminals. We have been going to that spot every single day for the last three or four years. When I asked the officers why they had chosen today to enforce the posted leash law, they explained they were under pressure from The Land Conservancy to do so. That was the exact same explanation I got when I asked the officers the same question at Ladera Linda and Friendship Park. The officers explained that some dogs chase wildlife and that they may disturb the brush and undergrowth. I've also been told that dog feces contains certain enzymes that are detrimental to the environment. That may all be true. Nonetheless, would it kill The Conservancy to allow dogs one very small area (which this is) to enjoy themselves? I commend The Conservancy for all of the good things they do, but they seem to be somewhat rigid and single-minded. If these people loved dogs as much as they love blue butterflies, maybe they would understand. Apparently, they don't.

Art went out of his way to reach out, understand what happened, and make things right. He spoke with the staff member involved, who acknowledged the mistake and apologized. I truly appreciate the hard work everyone at this store puts in, including the staff member who had the difficult interaction with me. My husband and I believe in supporting local businesses, and we do not wish anything negative for anyone. I hope the upcoming holiday season goes smoothly for Art and his whole team, especially with the busy UPS shipping rush. Wishing you all a very happy holiday season. .

I'm hopeful today's experience was a one-off, with a rude worker, who was unprofessional. When I entered, the workers were chatting and sitting on the desk, and it seemed like a burden that I was an Amazon return and not just a drop off, as others were doing near me. When trying to explain the variety of return codes I had, I was interrupted multiple times and treated as if I didn't know what I was speaking about. All the while, I wasn't permitted to complete my explanation nor question. It was uncharacteristic for this store and an Unfortunate experience - I'll consider a transition to doing Amazon returns at Whole Foods
