They only accept debit/ credits cards online and unfortunately 3% goes to processing fees so if you can donate to them directly via cash payment I am sure it is preferred. Now the facility itself looks like an old large house. Enter through the front entrance as some of the entrances there are signs up that it is private resident living (assuming it is a shared property or perhaps one of people that helps run it live in that unit). You wIll be greeted by the person working the phone and computer system and they will inform you cats on the first door on your left and straight back for the dogs. When I first walked through to greet the dogs and give them some love and them me my heart sank a bit as it definitely looks and feels like they need a home to fill up the love. I tried to pet all of them, approx eight to ten dogs total. Seriously thinking of getting more involved as my favorite charity and probably only charity I donate to be honest is for animal welfare. If you can spread some hugs, towels, clean linens, animal beds, unopened pet food, or a monetary donation it will go a long way and I appreciate you supporting a cause close to my heart. They do amazing work and I'm so glad that they have this café so we can come and support them. Entry fee was $15. You can pay online or at the door. This place is so warm and friendly. So many volunteers happy to introduce you to all the residents! The cats are happy! They love visitors and many love to be held, play and enjoy some treats. They have multiple couch's to sit on. There is an adult cat area and the kitten room. Only a limited number can enter the kitten room at once. There are complimentary treats for guests and resident kittys.. The cats have a gum-ball machine filled with treats . There is a free snack area, coffee and tea bar, and a stocked refrigerator full of sodas and water. The decor is PURRFECT. So many cool things pieces of decor throughout the cafe. The bathroom decor is hilarious. Instead of posting photos, I'm gonna post a video that I made for my personal social media. I feel like it truly captures how special this place is. Also, if you are inclined, you can message to see what food they are in need of then you can bring that to donate to their efforts. Last note, it is street parking only. There is a cemetery about a half a block away and there was plenty of street parking available there.

Submitted (electronic) application on October 9, application was approved October 14, kittens selected October 18. The application process was straightforward. It asks for personal references, probes for pet history, and has pointed questions to determine if you understand how to care for a cat. I got an email the next morning saying my application looked great and they would process it ASAP. It did take until Oct 14 to get confirmation that the application was approved, and I did have to follow up to get the confirmation. It seems as though the only contact there is Shauna, the owner/operator, and she is a busy lady. We visited the cat cafe on Oct 18 to meet the prospective kittens. The cafe has a nice, comfortable, very cat friendly area to mingle with the kitties. There are nests and beds all over that the cats are just chilling out in. All the cats were friendly and well socialized. They have the kittens in a separate room to keep them from getting bullied, and that is a comfy space for cats as well. There are plenty of hideouts for the kittens, as well as toys to play with them. The kittens were mostly happy to be cuddled and picked up, with a few exceptions for very shy or wary kittens. We met Shauna, who is very friendly and knowledgeable. After selecting the kittens we wanted to adopt, Shauna asked me to email her letting her know which ones we want. They don't do same-day adoptions. All the cats are fully vetted prior to adoption: vaccinated, spayed/neutered, flea and tick treated, microchipped, and tested negative for feline aids. Considering this is done by the rescue, the $150 adoption fee per cat (or buy-one-get-one!) is extremely reasonable. Due to my schedule I won't bring the fur babies home until early November, and Shauna was more than happy to let them stay at the cafe for a couple of extra weeks.

We previously took our dogs to the Humane Society but 2 of our girls had issues that none of the…read morevets could either agree on or fix so we went to Dutton as a last ditch effort and we are SO very happy we did. Our biggest issue and #1 reason for trying Dutton was our Piper. Piper was a little over 1 year old when we first took her to Dutton. She had been dealing with chronic diarrhea for over 6 months. The Humane Society vets had different opinions of what the cause was and what the treatment approach should be but they all kept prescribing her a certain medicine to "fix" it. The daily pill was meant to cure giardia even though they didn't think she had it. The issue was that the pill worked and fixed her upset stomach but AS SOON AS she was off it, she would get the diarrhea again. Dr. Mills at Dutton told us that this medication was not meant for long term use and there is no reason why she was being continually prescribed it for 5+ months... she could've seized up and died on us at any moment. We were so upset and thankful that Dr. Mills told us that so we stopped giving it to her immediately. Dr. Mills prescribed Tylan powder and sent us home with a full bag of Royal Canin food (for free, by the way) to see if that would help Piper's issue. The Tylan powder was MAGIC. Dr. Mills assured us this was something that dogs with IBS take daily and unlike the pill she was previously on, there are absolutely no negative side effects. When we went back for our follow up appointment Dr. Mills was not in (we scheduled with him but he had called out that day) and that is when we met with Dr. Seymour. Dr. Seymour told us the powder is a good plan and as long as we're OK with it, that's what we'll do. She did tried to wean her off of it but it was a no go so Piper will get 1/8 of this powder every 3rd day for the rest of her life but that's fine... it works, it's easy and it's cheap. No problem. Other vets we spoke to about Piper (not at Dutton) were really quick to have tests done on her which included anesthesia but what we liked about Dr. Seymour was that her treatment plan was safer and less invasive... only to resort to the expensive testing that required anesthesia should 1) we get tired of administering Tylan powder or 2) the Tylan powder stopped working. Soo... thanks to Dr. Mills and Dr. Seymour, our Piper is FIXED after 6+ months of her issue. While we felt comfortable with Dr. Mills and we fully trusted his knowledge, when we met Dr. Seymour on our follow up visit we decided to always see her from that point forward. We had previously dealt with more than 1 vet at the Humane Society and the conflicting opinions was not only confusing but also frustrating. In the interest of keeping things consistent, we now only see Dr. Seymour. However, we would gladly see Dr. Mills if she no longer worked there or if there was an emergency situation and she was not in. Both Dr. Mills and Dr. Seymour are very kind, easy to speak to and helpful. Since we had such a positive experience with Piper, we brought our 2nd girl in to see if there was an answer for her. Our Maggie had severe allergies and Dr. Seymour prescribed her Apoquel which we had never heard of before. Maggie had no hair... she was pink and her skin was goopy. We had her on other allergy medicine for years, tried switching her foods and also were giving her fish oil. We were wary of new medication but Dr. Seymour explained that her dog takes it too so we bit the bullet. After being put on the Apoquel, Maggie grew her hair back and was DEFINITELY more active and social. YAY! The ladies in the office were even amazed at how much hair she had because at the first appointment she was totally bald... even her tail. Besides the fantastic staff at Dutton, another big deal for us was the affordability. When comparing office visit prices to what we previously paid at the Humane Society and other vets, Dutton was a BIG price difference. A lot more affordable. That is a big deal... especially when you have more than 1 animal. The cost of medications was the same as what we paid at the others vets. The third positive point about Dutton would have to be the hours of operation. Dutton is open on the weekends and late nights during the week... can't beat that. A bonus at Dutton is that they sell pet care items for really low prices on site. We get $1 tooth brushes and tooth paste for a couple bucks whenever we go. We also snagged a $200 Pet Gear stroller for $25! YOU MUST pay with cash for these items but it is absolutely worth it. Overall we are extremely happy with Dutton and have no plans to switch. We recommend them to everyone we know. If you're a first timer, they run coupons in the paper and sometimes have one on their website for 10% off your first visit. There is 1 thing I would like to give people a heads up about-- they charge a service fee for using your credit card. Bring cash or check to avoid the fee.

As we were going to get into the car I noticed that the driveway was blocked by a utility truck. By the time I finished talking with the driver and he was able to move the truck, it was two minutes past the scheduled time for the appointment, so I called the vet clinic and told them what had happened, and that I would be 10 minutes late. I was informed that they were voiding my appointment and keeping my deposit. If I wanted to reschedule, they would require another deposit.

They lady I spoke to over the phone told me great things about him & told me to come in because he was ready to go home. I simply asked if she could reserve him for the next hour because I was driving from a different state to get there, and she said she could if I paid a fee for it. I didn't think it was really worth paying a fee since I was going to be there in less than an hour, so I gave her my phone number to call if someone else went to buy him within the hour. After speeding to get there, the ladies at the front desk told me he was already taken. They didn't apologize for not calling me sooner and instead tried to get me to take another bunny home. I was so upset that they didn't have the courtesy to call me or even have the decency to apologize. I'm all for saving animals, but I don't think I can adopt from the heartless people that work there.

But when we got there it didn't feel right. We sat down with a couple different cats and picked one that was super friendly. We even got to talk with the lady that fostered him so we knew how he'd behave when we got him home. They have dogs, of course. It seemed like they were all pitbulls though. It's still worth a look if you're looking for a new pet. The people here are super nice. They clearly care for these animals and really want the best for them. They have specials all the time too. We got our new cat for free with a $25 gift card to PetSmart. And he's awesome. A perfect fit. He might even turn me into a cat person. Time will tell. Oh!
