There are so many surprises within this one building. A bunch of apartments above, the shared office space and incubator kitchen on the main level. A bocci ball court, cornhole, grill and picnic tables in the courtyard. There is also another building out back that is not currently being utilized but is another amazing (small) space for something amazing once they figure out its intended purpose. My favorite part is the amount of items they salvaged during the rehab. From machinery to metal drawers, they incorporated as much as they could into the overall aesthetic of the place. In particular, note that: 1) The dishwasher is duct-taped because it does not work. 2) A knob is missing from the stove because an eye does not work. 3) There are no TVs present or listed in the amenities. 4) There's a basement apartment as well, whose tenants may share your kitchen, as well as pass through it to access their unit. Upon arrival to the property, I was immediately concerned by the poor condition of the outside, the paint on the building is peeling and in evident disrepair. Following the directions sent by the owner (received after payment for the property), I should have been alerted by the complex directions involved in entering the back door: - Open the small wire gate on the right of the 469 house, go around to the back of the house (between the grey and pink houses), and climb the small porch. : : - Go inside the apt/kitchen. - PLEASE, DO NOT TRY TO CLOSE THE DOOR WITH THE LEVER IN THE LOCKED POSITION - IT WILL DAMAGE THE LOCK/DOOR Obviously, the door is in poor repair. The apartment reeked. My thought was that this was the smell of bleach. It was so strong that it triggered an asthma exacerbation. The owner stated that they used standard cleaning solution and that it was not bleach. I have stayed in rental properties in various locales throughout the US and in Europe and I have never experienced this type of reaction from standard cleaning soap. The light in the one bathroom (4 bedroom) did not work. The toilet continued to run following flushing. The owner stated that we just needed to flush it again. He made this statement after being confronted about the condition of the house. There was trash left behind in the kitchen. There was no curtain on the glass back door. The door to the front bedroom did not close. Overall, this property which rents for $240/night is overpriced, in poor condition and possibly even a health hazard.

Tap-In is a charitable organization. Among other things, Tap-In finds volunteers to drive senior…read morecitizens to doctors' appointments, and that was why I called them. One doesn't like to criticize a charitable organization, but in my case they weren't very helpful. They are open only between 9:00 a.m. and noon. You can't speak to them at any other time. As a confirmed night person who spent my entire life working 2nd shift, I sleep during the mornings, so their office hours were a problem. Nonetheless, I got a call through to them during those hours, and they found a volunteer driver for me. However, I had some special needs associated with my appointment, and they didn't like that. The volunteer driver was scheduled to call me the night before the appointment, but I wanted to talk to him sooner than that. I wanted to make sure he wasn't someone I already knew, but I also needed to tell him that the appointment would take 90 minutes, and I needed to know if he'd be willing to wait. If he wasn't willing to wait, I needed to make other arrangements. These special requirements of mine apparently bothered the people at Tap-In, and there were two days when I left messages for them and they didn't call me back. With two days to go before the appointment, I wasn't sure that the volunteer was still going to come, so I postponed my appointment. He then called about 5 hours later, but it was too late to get my original appointment back. My new appointment was for 5:15 p.m. on another day, and Tap-In informed me that they wouldn't even try to find a volunteer to drive me for an appointment so late in the day. Apparently, all their volunteers are elderly, and 5:15 p.m. is late for them. If you don't have any special needs, Tap-In (I hear) provides a valuable service to elderly people who need transportation to their doctors' appointments; but if you have any special needs, they may not be that helpful. I'm giving them 3 stars instead of 2 because I do think they will be helpful to most people, but they weren't to me.
