Years ago I used to have a job where I needed to wear suits and professional attire on a daily basis. For years I kept those suits and dresses thinking I was probably going to need them again in the near future. Well after five years of just storing them and never wearing them I decided to donate them at Dress for Success. Why I chose this nonprofit? Because I know that the clothes I donate will go to someone that actually needs it and will make good use of it. The donation process was super easy. They take donations Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 12:30pm, except for the first week of the month. When you arrive to the building, you need to head to the back area where you will see a gate. A staff member will let you in and will pick-up all your donations. If you need a donation receipt for your taxes they can also provide that for you. I am so happy that I was able to support this amazing organization and I appreciate all the work they do to empower women!

Our veterinarian had originally quote us almost $1,000 just for the spay, which seemed a little over the top for such a common procedure. I went online and found Spay Neuter Network which is a nonprofit that provides affordable spay/neuter services for dogs and cats. Making the appointment online was super easy and I originally only had to pay $20 to secure my dog's appointment. On the day of the appointment my husband dropped him off at 7am and by 3:00pm he was ready to go home. At the end, we did end up paying about $100 more for some additional vaccinations that our dog needed prior to the procedure. It's been a week since the surgery and my dog is feeling great and we haven't had any issues. I am so happy to have found Spay Neuter Network and will definitely recommend to all my friends and family!

Next time i know not to come here. if im paying over 100 dollars i rather go to a nice clinic not this one . front desk is rude as well and dont even try and call because they will leave u on hold for hrs .

This place is hard to rate. They have a couple of outlets - one on S Probandt, and one on Walzam…read moreRd. Probandt is an old warehouse and the goods are presented in a commensurate fashion, making it kind of a dump to go to. BUT it is very large and they have a lot of items. The Walzam Rd location is smaller, more store-like and a lot cleaner. Selection is similar but my impression is of smaller quantities and more limited selection. They both carry a wide range of construction and household materials, whether reclaimed from remodels or demolitions, or closeouts, seconds and scratch-and-dent. They also have a lot of paints, much of which is "evolve", a brand that keeps excess project or returned paint from being senselessly dumped in landfills. Prices are better than the building materials stores, but you still need to know what a good price is, as some of the smaller household goods can be found for less elsewhere (mainly online). But bargains are to be found if you don't mind spending time browsing. I suggest coming prepared with a complete list of what you might need, so you come away with what you really want at a price that suits you. All of that said, remember that this is a thrift store for Habitat for Humanity, a very good organization that makes affordable housing available for low income people. So anything you buy supports a great cause. I would have rated this 3-stars, but the nature of what their main focus is caused me to make it 4-stars since the dollars you spend here contributes to helping people in need.

Their genuine care for hospice patients in financial need has been truly inspiring to me. I can vouch that it is rewarding to volunteer and they have been incredibly flexible with my schedule. This afternoon I visited a 91yr old woman with Alzheimers. I had a wonderful time with this dear woman who has no family nearby. She did ask me a few times what my name was and every time I'd tell her, she would sing me a 1950s song called "Tammy". It was the first time I had heard this song. So I looked it up on YouTube and showed her a video with Debra Reynolds singing "Tammy". She then sang with more enthusiasm and went down memory lane, sharing her memories. This is just an example but every visit with a patient is special and I feel very blessed afterwards. There are many ways to give back to the community and help His Generous Foundation thrive. Besides visiting hospice patients, you could aid with special events (like making a wish or bucket list come true), fundraising, administrative work, etc... You can also donate money to this org! Any time or donation given, no matter the amount will be put to good use! If you would like to know more, feel free to ping me or call the number and ask for Bridgett.

As a city and to a greater extent, a community we should not discount time as a currency. The…read moremanner in which we relate to the each other as a neighbors has weight and will ultimately be our greatest legacy. A community center in the westside, SA Time Dollar Community Connections operates under the idea that time, is in essence like a currency and a precious resource. The premise of SA Time Dollar Community Connections is simple. Neighbors trade, barter or volunteer for a service that they might need. For example if a person can plant a garden but is learning to read another neighbor could trade for that service. Or maybe a mother is a great seamstress but needs help learning how to use a computer, she could barter for that knowledge. The goal is to create a sense of community, while uplifting the neighborhood. While it operates primarily in the Westside, its services are extended to all. In addition to its successful system of offering one's time to help another neighbor they have a food pantry that helps the neediest in the city. They also offer periodic health and wellness programs that educates that population, targeting senior citizens with no access to health resources. This past summer it held a successful camp where kids learned basic horticulture skills and an appreciation for the earth. What makes the it such a successful endeavor is that it encourages the people that live within the neighborhood to volunteer. A great illustration of this is when the food pantry is open. It is not uncommon for a volunteer to serve the same neighbor, who lives next door, and in many cases shares the same economic disposition as them. The SA Time Dollar Community Connections is a grassroots organization that operates solely by volunteers who believe in giving a hand up not a hand out. It is a place with a premise that time and generosity are a precious resource. And exchanging it can make any neighborhood, community and city a better place.
