Came here after walking eight miles along the Banks-Vernonia trail. Hardly anyone in here, although a large family did show up maybe 15 minutes after I got settled. The owner was super friendly and welcoming. He seems to care about doing things right, and I really appreciate that. I got the IPA and went out by the fire. It was smoky but soooo warm and nice. There was a bit of rain but the fire and seating area were covered, so the rain was just some nice ambiance. I sat out there for some time just enjoying my beer and the setting. We went here after a Meetup event. Half of our group ended up somewhere else. Luckily it was only about 7 of us. This place is a one man operation. The owner was really nice and clearly cares about you and that you are happy. Things took awhile though, for he is the cook and does everything himself. His wife passed and he clearly misses her. He really needs help though in the kitchen. The beer that we all had we liked though! I had the salmon and it was the saltiest salmon we've ever had! I just think at the very least a cook needs to be hired. We all wanted to support him and we all appreciated his efforts but he needs help I think on order to keep this place open long term. I love to support places like this but overall our group wishes we'd eaten where the others ended up. Hopefully in time tons will change where we can come back and support this place again! read more

Love coming to this spot when we hit the Vernonia Trails. The owner is always so nice and friendly and accommodates my vegetarian needs while my husband enjoys their amazing brisket. Very homey mom and pop atmosphere, which we love. read more

Walked in after hiking the tillamook forest on our way home. The sign outside said they were open but the guy standing at the host podium said they weren't serving food. However, there was a group of about six eating food right there. Not sure why we weren't welcomed in but we definitely won't be going back. read more

As we were driving from the coast to Portland, we needed some lunch and a beer. Yelp came to the rescue, and we ended up here. Walking up to it I wasn't sure to make of it. It is a garage that is converted into a tap room/restaurant. It wasn't much to look at so I was quite skeptical of what we would get. Once inside we were greeted by, who I assume was, the owner. He was very kind and knowledgeable about beer. I was impressed by their selection and he helped narrow down what kind of beer I would like. I appreciate this kind of service because that reminds me so much of what the beer community is about. I was starving, and couldn't decide what to get off their menu. It sounds like his wife cooks all the food herself. They had a tri-tip sandwich special that day. I was in. It was delicious! The meat was savory, melt in your mouth, and full of flavor. It really paired well with my beer. This is the kind of spot I could see running some day. It clearly gets a lot of love from the local community, the focus is on good beer, and they provide a delicious simple home cooked meal. After eating brunch in Forest Grove we did a search of breweries near by and decided to trek out to Banks and check out Hop Cycle. We didn't have any food but did enjoy a tasty beverage in their outside seating. Not sure if we will be back as it's outta the way for us but the beers were cold, the outdoor space was perfect for the day so all in all a nice place to get a beer with friends if your in the area. read more

Saw the BBQ flag and after passing by a dozen times finally stopped in. What a treat! The BBQ brisket is smoked for over 14 hours and so smokey and tender. Really spoiled us for any other local BBQ place! And that watermelon feta salad is awesome. After the first weekend of heaven, we went the next weekend and took a guest. Plus it's a friendly small eating area inside so you just want to sit and chat and enjoy a beer with the dinner. A real plus for Banks! read more

We'd been intending to try out Hop Cycle for some time and finally made a plan as part of my father-in-law's birthday. Pretty country drive from HWY 26 to Banks. Unassuming building. Delicious smells from the outdoor meat prep station hit you as you get out of the car. Great little family run business; friendly and welcoming. Our family loved everything we ordered: Chili, cornbread, beer cheese and Hungarian mushroom soups, tri-tip plate, Caesar salad, burger, and sides. Tasty beverages, too. My favorites bites of the day were the scallop potato side and the chocolate mousse dessert. I'm planning to go back for more of those and want to try the brisket too! read more

stopped in out of the blue because we always talk about coming in and never do, first of all the owners are LOVELY and it was such a nice time meeting and chatting with a fellow brewer. We had the pecan pie porter and it was delicious! they let me order sides instead of a whole entree which was super nice a lot of places don't let me! We had the hungarian mushroom soup with cornbread, side of scalped potatoes and a side of their roasted brussels sprouts. first of all, ALL of it was fantastic. my soup was an unexpected texture and consistency but my god it was so tasty i almost forgot about the cornbread which was CRAZY moist i didn't even want butter for it (which they had provided anyway because they're great.) the scalloped potatoes were wonderful, def would like a whole entree portion of that next time i'm in those were so comforting! and last but definitely not least are the best brussels sprouts i've ever had! roasted to perfection with a bunch of little crispy leaves that fell off to make little brussel chips!! such a lovely surprise and honestly couldn't have been happier i'm so glad we stopped here! can't wait to try the rest of their menu read more

It's a family run place and it shows - there were lots of smiles, but it's also very professionally run. The service was prompt and considerate. Great casual little spot with good pub food in Banks. So nice to have something near the start of the Banks Vernonia trail. They just recently opened so they are serving local craft beer for now until they get their own brewing operation going, which looks like it will be any day now. Great little find on the Banks Vernonia Bike Trail. The menu offered a good variety. Caesar salad and pulled pork were my fav! Both excellent. Serving sizes were overly generous. Service was with a smile. Beer by the bottle or on tap. Looking forward to when they brew their own beer. For those wine drinkers amongst us they even had a wine selection. Setting was nice with outside seating on a beautiful Sunday afternoon - perfecto! Inside is a work in progress. Great lighting and tables plus bar and bar stools. Still deciding on paint colors - I hope they stay in some cool colors to keep it bright inside on our dark Oregon days. Great place to kick back with friends, enjoy a cold beer and bowl of warm homemade chili complete with homemade bread! Then order another cold one and pull out that deck of cards and enjoy a hand or two of your favorite game. Really family friendly place both on the affordability barometer and from an atmosphere perspective. Would definitely go again and recommend it highly! Wishing them the best.
