There is a lady here who I'm not sure if she's a manager or just someone that works there but everytime we are there she bitches and bitches about anything that we do. I understand it's your job but it's ridiculous at this point.

Great market in a small town…read more The grocery area has a lot of variety for a small town and the prices are reasonable. We were there for brats, leaving with apple, beer, whiskey and mango habanero as well as two pounds of hamburger. The brats cooked up perfectly. Apple and beer were sort of plain, as expected. Whiskey was spicy. Mango habanero was the most surprising. The sweet balanced out the heat so well that I ate many more bits of these than I expected. The price per pound was better than the local butchers around Lawrence. We also had a couple of cocktails at a very reasonable $6 apiece. Both were tasty.

I wouldn't necessarily call myself a dollar general connoisseur but I would say that I've visited A…read morelot of them during my lifetime and the majority of my experience with them hasn't been very good. Some places are hit and miss, where the prices may be good but you might not find what you want. Or you may find what you want but the price is a little high. Or you may find what you want and the price is great but you have a hard time navigating the store because of all of the debris and cluttered isles in the store. But all of that changed with this location. This location is right off of highway 75 on the entrance into Burlington. The signage is huge and visible to see. Parking is extremely ample and even the parking lot is clean. I found no debris and trash in the lot, which is a rarity nowadays. The minute I walked in I was immediately impressed baskets were secured in the front of the store neatly and the first thing my eyes laid upon was the produce. They had actual fresh produce. Onions, apples, whole potatoes , cauliflower, Lettuce, carrots you name it they had it and in all of my travels to many different dollar general stores I've never seen one that had fresh produce. They have full freezer section that went from one end of the store all the way to the back which is contrary to other Dollar General's because usually there's only two freezers and you were only fine milk, juice and little frozen treats and that was it. This store had freezers all the way to the back of the store. Their isles were extremely clean and fully stocked. You didn't have to question where anything was it was clear, plentiful and in view. The best of all was the greeting and the friendliness of the staff. I was greeted the minute I stepped inside with a wonderful hello and a beautiful smiling face from the female that worked there. When I told her I was impressed with the store she even encouraged me to send them an eval online because they don't get enough notification about people being impressed I told her I would definitely do that. I'm going back to see if I can get some pictures due to the fact that my phone was left in the car when I came in. If you're ever going through Burlington Kansas and you need a few things do stop in to their local Dollar General. I promise you you will be impressed

Bad Experience at Walmart Gas Station I had a very…read morefrustrating experience at this Walmart gas station. My fuel tank was not full, but the pump kept shutting off and would not allow me to add more gas. I tried multiple times, but the nozzle kept clicking off as if the tank were already full. This seems like an issue with the pump or nozzle, not my vehicle. While the gas price is good, the equipment needs to work properly. Cheap prices don't help if customers can't fuel their cars correctly. Walmart should inspect and maintain their gas pumps better to avoid this problem.

Great budget conscious grocery store that is gaining popularity around here!…read more There are a few things to know before you shop, if you've never been to an Aldi before. Bring your own quarter to check out a shopping cart. Be sure to bring your own bags as well, however there are bags available for purchase at the checkout aisle. You'll be bagging your own groceries. My only true complaint is the lack of selection. You can't be picky with brands here, because you basically get one option/product to choose from. I love coming here when building charcuterie boards, because the meats and cheeses are so cheap! Produce is good, however items like the bananas and watermelon that we've had in the past didn't really ripe and had little flavor.

I shopped at PriceChopper on April 10th. Stupid me didn't concern myself with sell by dates - generally never had to except with dairy and packaged salads. So I bought Juice that was best by March 01, 2012. I bought broccoli that they already wrap in plastic for you (which I hate but choices were limited), the broccoli was packaged on March 30... I bought it ten days after the fact. Mushrooms packaged on March 24th.... I threw those out and saw them as not salvageable. Several other grocery goods (thankfully I do not see those as perishable) that were several months past the recommended use by dates. Yeah Ummmm, never again.
