I was impressed by how clean it was and also by how friendly the staff working was. Between the four of us we popped in and out a few times, got some snacks, used the restroom, and took some time to feed the baby before we got back on the highway. 4/5 stars because I was really hoping for a canned cold brew and they only had coffee energy drinks which I don't care for. I ended up getting some kind of frozen coffee thing they sold, which was fine, but it would be nice to have a few more options.

So it's cheap and its clean and easy to use and it's right off the ring road of Emporia heading to the highway.

Personally, I wasn't impressed with the hygiene situation of the showers. There was mold on the walls and ceiling of the shower. A little bleach mix with water or shower cleaner in between customers could go a long way from a sanitation and hygiene standpoint. Spray it up there, and use a scrub brush on a mop handle to reach and knock out the mold. It's all tiled, so this shouldn't be too difficult. In my mind, if you're going to over look mold in plain view, I tend to wonder about the other things. Such as floors, towels, etc. this may not be a fault on the employee cleaning, but rather management not providing the materials/chemicals and training to effectively do the job. The parking lot doesn't have a ton of space, but it makes the best use of what it has and with that, it excels.

While traveling I don't like to feel like I've gotten off on an exit straight into the twilight zone. So, this was bookmarked for me on my I-70 road trip so I'd know (hopefully) where clean bathrooms could be found. This gas station looks a bit dumpy from the exterior and I almost bailed on it. No. Just a typical utilitarian gas station bathroom, which was thankfully clean and stocked with TP, soap and paper towels. The convenience store offered a cheap fountain drink special which was nice; I needed something to perk me up. The lady at the counter was friendly. Hardly anyone else was there so getting gas and checking out was quick and easy. Selection at small convenience store very basic. Bottom line- if all u want is gas and a clean pit stop, come on by. But don't go out of your way if you need more options or expect more than the basics.

The baby changing table blocks the entrance to the stalls AND access to one sink. More importantly, the plastic of the table was cracked and threatened to give way under the weight of my one year-old. I had to prop it up with my knee to keep her from sliding off. Finally, my husband said there was no changing table in the men's restroom. It's 2019, people. Mama can't always come on road trips, and when she does she is tired of changing all the diapers. Please put a table in the men's room!
