I found Hoover the Mover when another large moving company cancelled on my parents less than 24 hours in advance, leaving them in the lurch, even being aware the move was due to medical reason and Had to get done. I called Hoover and spoke with Darlene - who is Amazing I might add. She not only made our move happen but also got us an earlier time slot than we had with the other company. Reno and Isaiah F showed up to move my parents and were absolutely Fantastic. Quick, efficient and not one thing was knocked or damaged. Even if a stressful situation is what brought me to Hoover the Mover I'm thankful it did as it forced me to try a new mover and the experience was hands down the best I've had to date - and I move A Lot. We recently moved from Auburn IN to St Simons Island GA. From my first phone call with Hoover the Mover, they were so kind and helpful. Javon came out to give us an estimate. Super nice and explained everything in detail. Trish, the move coordinator, to this day is still very kind and friendly and helpful. Throughout the process she called to check on how things were going. Harold and his crew who packed us were thorough and patient with us. They did a great job. We only had one broken item, which was not a big deal. Angel, who delivered our things, he and his crew worked steadily in the heat and humidity and unloaded our things efficiently and quickly. They moved me back in June , it's Oct and I still am trying to get items repaired. A few examples of this horrible move -rushed loading and unloading:scratched items, items left in garage that belonged inside -broke kitchen table and chairs then lost hardware to put table back together -kitchen chairs delivered smelled like smoke, as did all my items they moved, one chair still isn't fixed correctly and has new scratches all over it. - lost hardware to put TV back together - poor response time from management Takes weeks to hear back from management Would not recommend them to anyone read more

I used Hoover the Mover in Fort Wayne to do my in town move. I had a tight schedule to get possession of the new house, get carpet installed, move and then turn over the old house in five days!!! So I needed a company I could rely on to be on time and get the job down. I chose Hoover the Mover at the recommendation of a friend and because their price was good. It was a GREAT decision!!! My salesman, Kyle, was awesome! He had all kinds of ideas on how I should pack to ensure my things were safe, and this was before I signed on the dotted line! Brandon and his crew showed up on time and they got right to work. They didn't even stop for lunch even though we offered them pizza!!! My house was moved quickly, efficiently and without a single issue!!! I would recommend them to anyone and if I ever move again, I will definitely be using them! read more

We used Hoover the Mover to move our belongings into storage when we moved in March. We discovered recently that our washer was damaged in the move (it's still in storage where the movers put it). I thought, oh this will be easy! I'll just call Hoover the Mover and tell them it was damaged and they'll pay to fix it ($270 for parts. We'll do the labor). Well I was wrong. They basically told me I was out of luck and they didn't do it & I can't prove that they did. Also, the guy I dealt with was horribly rude.So. In closing, spread the word: Hoover the Mover doesn't stand behind their services. I will never use them again and will continue to tell everyone that will listen that they are dicks. Everything seemed fine until the day of the move when a driver showed up at my house. It was a driver from North American, someone who no one at Hoover the Mover had ever met before. He was terrible, he yelled and screamed and stormed out of my house because I asked him not to handle one of my items as he was (breaking it). The owner had to come out to my house to calm him down and I was still forced to have him as my driver. The other two gentlemen there packing the truck were just as shocked as me. They said they had never seen this before and had never been yelled at or ordered around as he was. The driver made them move everything twice and it took 4 hours longer than necessary. Once we were at our destination, I received a call from the company that boxed the TV that said they would be there tomorrow morning to unbox in. Interesting considering the truck had not arrived and I had heard from no one. I call the "on call" number no answer or way to leave a message until the 5th attempt. He said he didn't know anything and they can't do anything. Well ok then. Luckily I had the owners phone number from his visit to my house and called him. He was shocked and said he would figure it out. I have yet to hear back from him. I had to call the company back and re-coordinate everything....isn't that what I was paying the moving company for? Upon unpacking the truck multiple items were broken and damaged and now they are saying they are not at fault. I have photos, text messages and witnesses to all of this. Hoover the Mover was contracted by Dewitt to perform the house packing and sea container loading for our move from Fort Wayne. The initial estimate went smoothly and the gentleman was friendly. However, it turns out that his initial estimate was off by nearly 30%. The packing crew was understaffed and unskilled. When the end of the second day arrived they closed up the container, said it was full and left behind many items. When the container arrived, many valuable items had been thrown in without being packed or braced. Not only was there a substantial amount of room left in the container, but many items were damaged in transit due to improper packing and bracing. While most of the personnel I encountered were polite and friendly, at the end of the day, they simply lacked the motivation and experience necessary to perform a competent inter-modal move. read more

The worst moving company ever. Do not use them. They are a north american van lines agent and will promise the most stress free move ever. My experience has been the exact opposite. First they charged me an extra 100 bucks as driver waiting fee (the driver was waiting on a Sunday). Then they charged me an additional fee for a shuttle (400 bucks) even when they could get their truck in the apartment complex. Their reason, they could not stop in the fire lane where a dumpster was parked and is parked every single day. To add insult to injury, my PS3 is stolen along with its two remotes. I had more than 500 hours of gaming on it with all my game saves which are now lost. My advice, stay away from them. They will promise the most stress free move, and charge you more than the market rate. The worst ever moving company. Do not work with them. read more

Terrible moving company. My company is growing and relocates people from all over the country. We recently used Hoover the Mover to move an employee and they did a terrible job. She has been at her new residence since 7/6/15 and she still doesn't have all of her furniture. Her belongings were damaged, her expensive couch is still missing, and one crate is still sitting in their storage. They also over-billed us for labor. By far one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. Kyle provided a quote for our family's move from Indiana to Georgia in late April, 2017. Kyle was very pleasant and informative when in our home. He assured us that by hiring his company we would have the most seamless moving experience available. We signed our contract the first week of May and our pick-up was scheduled for July 31st. We were told that when our driver arrived to pick up our belongings he would confirm the arrival date in Georgia. Although we would have preferred to have more information up front, we resigned ourselves to waiting for the 31st to confirm the arrival date. Our thought was that, once the date was confirmed, we would know exactly how long we had to make the trip and could plan any hotel stays, if needed. We are a family of six (6) so we hoped to minimize the need to stay in hotels in order to save money. On the day our truck arrived, the driver did not have the information we were told he would have and we were told to call the office. My husband called the office twice and was told both times that they were working on getting the information. After four (4) hours I called the office myself and was informed that the 'truck' they sent was actually a container because they did not have a truck or driver available for our move, but that they would still be arriving between the 4th of August and the 8th of August as originally stated. Lisa in the office was extremely rude and could not wrap her head around why this was a problem. She actually said to me that she would think that someone with a family of six would have been better prepared. I was and am still shocked at the way she spoke to me (her customer) and the lack of care or desire to help that she displayed. I was told that our container would be taken back to the Ft. Wayne facility and would sit there until a driver was available to pull it to Georgia and that we would be given a 24 hour notice of the truck's arrival. When I asked when they would have a driver Lisa's response was 'I don't know - maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day.' This is not what we were sold. If we had known that there was even a possibility that this would happen we would never have chosen to go with this service. I also don't understand how, having signed the contract three whole months earlier, they did not have a truck or driver available for our move. This poor planning on their part became a big problem for our family. Although we enjoyed having Kyle in our home he went AWOL during this situation. We emailed and called him and to this day have not heard a word from him. No follow-up to see how the move went, nothing. The only bright spot is that the gentlemen who came to load the truck were exemplary. They were professional, courteous and respectful. But let me reiterate - this was the only good thing about this move. In the end, we ended up working with Shante at the corporate office as neither of us wanted to speak with Lisa again. Shante was compassionate and understanding as you would expect of a customer service representative. I'm not sure who she spoke with, but she was able to tell us that a driver would be picking up our container and moving it to Georgia the following day. On the back end we dealt with Beltmann Movers in Georgia. Everything about working with their company was pleasant and enjoyable from the customer service to the gentlemen who arrived to unload our truck. We will be using them in a year when we move again. Lastly, we did have several items damaged during shipment. We purchased the replacement insurance plan so we will be filing a claim. The Beltmann team pointed out a few areas in the truck that were packed incorrectly and took photos as back up, as well. Only use this company if you want to gamble at getting what you are told you will receive. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

There was a scheduling snafu between Hoover and the national dispatcher that caused some headaches with our move. That said, once identified Hoover sought to problem solve right away. Kyle and Marsha are a dynamic duo!! Those two helped me with my move from Indiana to Texas, and everything was spot on. Kyle brought by some specialty moving boxes I needed (free of charge), and he was very real and honest about everything, plus he gave me tips on how to pack some awkward items and kids toys. Marsha handled the paperwork and everything in the office perfectly, and delivered when and how she said she would. She was even texting me over the weekend after the load was on the truck to check on me and provide additional details. And, if you have the chance, request Ross Hicks as your driver. He was excellent also, and kept me very informed on the transport progress. This is twice now that I've used North American for a cross country move. Needed household items moved from Terre Haute to Fort Wayne. The advised they needed to make a home visit to assess items and that Terre Haute was really to far to drive to for initial assessment for a not so big load. They worked with us and actually did a FaceTime walk thru as though they were there - great plan. Everything went like "clockwork". All employees were friendly and did an excellent job. Had one china cabinet that had not been moved since 1890 - original glass. Arrived in Fort Wayne in perfect condition. On time - did everything asked for. Good group! read more

I was not impressed when we used this service. They did show up on time, as promised, but the workers appeared to have an "attitude" about how much furniture and boxes we had. We did get everything moved, but they ended up breaking my office chair (not sure how, but it was fine before the move, and was broken afterwards). In addition, they took the mirrors off 2 dressers for the move, but did not reinstall, nor did they leave the screws behind so we could refasten them ourselves. The same with 2 beds: they took the bedframe off the headboards, but did not reassemble on the other end, nor leave us the screws to do it ourselves. When we called after the move to ask about this, they said they'd see if they could find the hardware and call us back -- but never did. I had to call 3 times before I got answers. Of course, by that time, no one could find any of the screws or anything. They did knock some money off the bill, but.... overall I was just not satisfied with the service. read more
