I did not know this location in Clearwater was the very first original Hooters until I looked it up on Yelp. So does it mean the food or the girls they have better than other locations?? The answer is no! I have been to Hooters only once besides this time. That was in NC...the food was much better (not saying their food was great....it was decent). The food I had in Clearwater was just disgusting. Now the service. Our waitress was nice to us but I think she just wanted to get good tips. Other girls who weren't serving out table were just terrible. They got no smile on their faces, no greeting and they do not even acknowledge your existence. One of my friends was going to fill an application for a waitress position here, but she passed. She said the girls were very bitchy and mean to her....so that's their real faces just so you know. But I am a girl and so is my friend. If you are a guy, you would probably get treated better. I just wished I would have gone to some other place to have a better lunch. read more

Living in the area, we decided to stop by tonight at the ORIGINAL Hooters and see what it's all about. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We started with the 10 piece Buffalo shrimp appetizer with medium sauce. When it arrived, you couldn't even tell it was tossed in the sauce. There was literally no sauce on them but a small pool of sauce in the bottom of the tray/ plate. When our entrees arrived, it was more of the same. I order the 10 piece boneless wings combo with the medium sauce and the Parmesan garlic rub. Once again, the wings that were supposed to have the medium sauce did not appear to have any sauce on them. There was a small pool of sauce at the bottom of the tray. I asked the server for more sauce which she did bring to me but it seemed very watered down. It had practically no flavor to it. I am a wimp as far as hot sauces and heat is concerned, I couldn't tell there was a sauce on there. My girlfriend Ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with the medium sauce and had the exact same issue. We had a gentleman go by our table and so I asked him if he was the managers and he said he was one of the managers and I expressed my concern to him about the sauce or lack of and he explained me how it comes prepackaged and some thing about heating it up but that's what happens to it is the end result of what he was trying to explain to me from what I was able to understand. When we get our bill, I noticed that they charge you for each ranch or blue cheese dipping sauce that you get with your meal or appetizer. I have never had that happen in a restaurant that serves wings primarily. They usually give you one or two per order but this is where it was not extra sauces..... it was EVERY SINGLE ONE. So they got an extra six dollars out of us for just getting dipping sauces to go with our wings. That left another bad taste in our mouth. So for one appetizer, 1 ten piece of boneless wings, 1 buffalo chicken sandwich, 1 beer and 1 tea was $57 plus tip of 20% (not her fault) it was a $70 meal for wings for 2 people. Ridiculous. I don't mind paying good money for good food but this did not fit the bill based on this one visit. read more

I have visited this location quite a few times over the years.  Even though this is "The Original Hooters" there is nothing special about it which sets it apart from any other Hooters I've been to.   I will say, the food is good.  It is the reason I continue to go back.  The variety of sauces and rubs for the wings means I can try something different every time! In addition, you can never go wrong with curly fries and a side of jalapeno cheese dipping sauce! Also, they do offer some good, local beers on tap, which I thought was pretty cool. Unfortunately, the service received is generally sub par. It is the main reason I'm giving a 2 star review instead of a 4.  As a former server, I am quite forgiving when things go wrong with my order or food takes too long. Over the course of the multiple meals I've had at this location, I usually end up feeling ignored.  Drinks go unfilled, I have to ask management for plates and utensils, I wait an excessive amount of time for the check, etc.  This is a convenient location for me and I would definitely visit more frequently if I knew I would consistently receive great service. read more

Meh, it's Hooters. Girls with make-up slathered on their faces, nice bodies and shitty attitudes. Perfect place for guys, I guess. I'd rather eat some place where the emphasis on the food food, personally. I will say though that I absolutely love the butter-rich Buffalo sauce in which they drench their wings. This is "the original" Hooters where it all started decades ago, so one would expect this location to offer up flawless service, which simply isn't the case. I ordered some wings, beer and a chicken Caesar salad. With the salad, I ordered grilled chicken, not blackened. I think the bartender forgot to put my salad order in because there was about 15 minutes between the time I finished my wings and when the salad arrived. When it did arrive, the chicken was blackened. I sent it back and canceled the order. Paid for my wings and beer and went next door to Pete & Shorty's where I had a much more pleasant experience. read more

Not sure why the 3 star overall reviews. This is a 5 star rating based on Hooters, this obviously isn't fine dining. The wings here were as good as I've ever had. All of the memorabilia for this being the first Hooters ever was pretty neat. Tons of waitresses, didn't seem like anybody was waiting long for anything. Hands down infinitely better than my local one. Again order some wings and a beer, catch a game. Don't be that person ordering something goofy off the menu then wondering why it isn't the best. read more

The only reason we come to this location is that it is on our way home from the stadium. We saw a Hooters ad this morning for their new smoked wings so we thought we would come tonight and try them. This location doesn't have them. They also didn't have the draft beer I wanted. There have been other times we came here and got something messed up. Tonight is the last time. read more

I generally like Hooters restaurants, and this one is special. The Clearwater Hooters is the first, the original Hooters. Unlike many Hooters locations, this one is not in a beautiful spot or a tourist mecca -- but it definitely has a special feel. Hooters recently remodeled the entire place, updating the appearance, and adding outside seating. If you are coming to Hooters, you should eat wings. If you like "Medium" in most places, order "Hot" at Hooters. Also, try the "Lots-a-Tots" as an appetizer--tater tots don't get any better than that. read more

+ great wings - slow service, no wifi This is the original Hooters. It's nice inside, with updated decor. Lots of booths, and super friendly waitresses. I was disappointed they did not offer free wifi. Bar is very open and loud, so be prepared for a not so quiet meal. But it is Hooters, so you really can't complain. read more

My girlfriend and I have been going to Hooters since 2010 one of the best kept secrets was the snow crab it was plump delicious very tasteful in a pound was $10.95 tonight we went back at my request and a pound $19.95 well tasteful it was thin and tough and only 8 pieces well we had great service from Melissa who is been there forever we we're very disappointed and the size and proportion have a snow crab I have told everyone in this area for years that this is the best snow crab in the area and I can not say that now I don't know what has happened don't blame it on the pandemic it's just poor management for buying and I'm very disappointed in the evening read more

Hooters is a fun place to eat and meet new friends. One individual is Samone. She is my server. She is absolutely beautiful and should be in the Hooters Calendar if she is not already. She is just an all-around nice person to be around. She has an outstanding personally and will do well in anything that she focuses on. Way to go Samone. Samone, may be very nice but she is terrible server. I was sitting for at least 35 minutes and on multiple occasions I tried to get her attention and when she finally came over I asked her how is my grouper sandwich and her response was I don't know. When it finally came I had to ask her for silverware and napkins. I remember her bringing a plate earlier with napkins and ketchup and I asked where it was she replied "I took it". I asked why and all she can say is "why not". Hooters is known for many things but good service is not one of them. read more

This is the original 1983 location of Hooter, and I can't believe that I'm writing the first review. A recent renovation has updated the location and made it look sharp and clean on the inside. I especially like the bricks with quotes on the floor. Our service was prompt and efficient, and the food was tasty. it's a wing place so that's what we got, along with a side of mediocre fries. It's full of kitsch and nostalgia, but it's not a place you really go to for the food. read more

Had to check out The Original Hooters of Clearwater Florida. I was waited on by Danielle who was absolutely spectacular helping me decide on what to order. I decided on the lunch special of 6 buffalo shrimp and 6 boneless wings with Hooters special sauce. They have a great bar withtons of tv's for the sports fan. When in Clearwater, a stop at Hooters is a must. Don't forget to ask for Danielle. read more

Love Hooters! They have wonderfully, juicy, flavorerfull, blackened mahi sandwich. I always get the mahi or blacked fish tacos. Same fish just one is on a bun and the other wrapped with salsa. Both very good! My choice today for lunch. read more

Just OK. We came tonight on a Saturday night around 830pm. The wait time was told 25/30 mins but ended up being about 10 minutes only. Wings & curly fries are hot & GOOD! Clam chowder was thick & medium brown color. Did not taste good. The sweet tea was NOT good either. 3 star rating because food quality service was just OK. I still enjoy Hooters wings but I would rave too much. This particular location has a huge selection of novelties to bought Hooters gear. Great BIG selection of cups / clothes etc. If you need Hooters gear come here. Food is OK read more

It's Hooters. No difference being the 'Original Hooters' or not besides a few different sauce options and some local beers that you can't find anywhere else. I haven't been to Hooter's in a few years, so I figured I would check out the one that is close to my house. I used to love this place, and it just seems like quality has gone downhill across the chain for a while now. First of all, the waitstaff was not friendly and standoffish. Basic conversation and knowledge of the beers on tap would be a good thing to learn for some of these girls. I'm not saying to flirt with me, but have a general interest in your job or just find another one. When I ask if you have anything new, or any cool beers on tap, don't suggest "Modelo" just because it's printed on the back of the menu as large as the eyes can see. Suggest some of the beers that, I dunno are in the local listed page. I was glad to have found 'Crooked Thumb' from Safety Harbor on the menu, however unfortunately none was available on tap when I arrived :( I ordered another local brew and asked for a big boy mug...was brought just a pint. No worries, it was rung up as a pint, so I didn't send it back. I was thirsty! Secondly, we had a simple order. Everything came out OK except for the shrimp. We ordered Buffalo shrimp that were so tiny, they must have put on double breading to make up for the loss of size. Bit into them and all I could taste was bread :( Oh well, I was starving so I went onto our wings. The wings were good, and the Daytona sauce was surprisingly tasty. Breading on these were at an acceptable level, so no real complaints there. On the side we also had the buffalo chicken dip, which was good as well. Why 2 stars then? This could have easily been a 3 or maybe 4, but the lack of attention to the table, inconsistency in the food, slower service and lack of knowledge of the drink menu have brought this down to a 2. I would expect a WAY better experience from "The Original Hooters" and you should too. read more

There is not much not to like. I give it 4 starts for their consistency. My wife loves their chicken wrap and I'm a big fan of their Buffalo chicken sandwich. Waitresses are always nice, this location is clean. For a Hooters they come out on top! It's cool coming here since this is the original Hooters! read more

Just got take out from Hooters . First they were out of clam chowder , then they didn't have Buffalo chicken wing dip like there menu online says. Only reason I wanted them tonight. So I got a turkey burger with a side salad . Told them ketchup and mustard . Well got a turkey burger with no ketchup or mustard with fries and a side salad . So it was dry and gross with no dipping sauce and fries wasted . Then I order teriyaki chicken wings . I got plain chicken wings with no sauce. Needless to say I told them to keep there wings and got a dry ass turkey burger . (Gf picked order up) not impressed won't go back . read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch craving chicken wings. I was hesitant to go, as I haven't been in a similar establishment in years because I felt uncomfortable in the past. Not only were the wings fantastic, but we also had great service! I know that my review might sound stupid to some people, but I know that I'm not the only woman out there who has been hesitant to go. read more

Went in and ordered a cheeseburger, and the other party had wings. After what seemed like a longer than normal wait, my well-done burger came out still alive. My plate was full of blood from the almost rare hamburger, and the fries were soaked in blood rather than ketchup. When I called the manager over, no appoligies, no, nothing, just took the burger and walked away with an attitude. Burger could have probably walked away without him. Well, I always like to be positive and find the best about a place so that's how I'm gonna keep it. When I first walked in and sat out in the patio the girl serving overlooked me as I looked at her and smiled letting her know I was there. Yet in walked six guys that pulled chairs out up right next to me and she came up to them as they were still trying to sit... I moved to the bar and ordered my lunch and the girl there was awesome and made up tenfold for that upsetting moment. She served me right away and was nice and very conversational! Thanks! The wings and crab legs were great and the experience was a much better one! read more

Waited 15 minutes on a Monday night at 8:45 P.M. No one came to take our order . We walked out . Terrible service.

Awful!! This place used to be really good. Now the food is mediocre and absolutely everything has an "up-charge." Your $12 burger does not come with cheese or fries. You need to pay more for each. Your overpriced wings do not even come with a piece of celery or any ranch / blue cheese. You need to pay more for each. You need to pay extra for absolutely everything. It's insulting! :( The buffalo shrimp were so small that an order of 10 shrimp could fit in a coffee cup!! What a downslide. There are so many better places to dine and spend your hard earned money. What's worse is when you go through the bad yelp reviews you read the owner responds with nonsense like "thanks for stopping in" and "sorry for the confusion." They apparently are not changing anything for the better but rather continuing to ride on their former reputation. I wish I read the bad reviews before wasting my money at this location. You've been warned. read more

First time here at the original Hooters. Our server was Alexa. She was fun and attentive. We had an issue with the crab legs, they were empty when we cracked them. My co-worker told me about this location being the original, so we both agreed to go on the weekend and give it a try. Amazing place, went in and was greeted warmly by the lovely ladies, sat at our usual place in the bar area, the hooters girls and bartenders are incredibly nice and fast paced at refilling me and my friends beers, food came out quick and easy, of course getting their original style chicken wings, tasted great as usual. I'm come here weekly now. read more

I am visiting from Tennessee so when I heard that the Original hooters was close to me I had to come visit. I was really hungry so I got the 20 piece boneless wings. When the wings came it immediately looked like they had been sitting out all day. They looked and felt old. I took a bite and it was hard to even chew. You know that feeling when you get food that is old. And this was it. I got the medium buffalo sauce on it. And it looked like there was no sauce on them at all. I told the bartender and she said that that sauce evaporates into the hot wings. I have been to several Hooters and that has never happened. She took the wings in the back to retoss them in buffalo and brought them back to me. Still didn't help. The wings were absolutely terrible. Really disappointed with this visit. I will not come back here again. read more

Always good when a business has a good manager. I placed an order to go. After driving to pick up and returning home it was noticed they rub was sparsely applied. Calling back the location to see what were our options. Who ever answered phone advised that that's how they are and they don't have a strong taste of the rub, it blends in. It's not like I didn't know what I ordered and have tasted them in the past. I was put on hold! I called back after 6 minutes on hold. Cut to the chase, went back and the manager took care of the wings. read more

loved Hooters since the 80s. Tonight visited Original Hooters on Gulf to Bay, original wings were not the same wings we've been getting for last 30 years, wings are different, breading is different, sauce is different. Seems to me that they should tell us that before ordering. Dean read more

These were literally the worst wings I've ever had in my life. I'm a wing lover! Once I even went "wing hopping" for my birthday instead of bar hopping. In fact, I went vegan 6 months ago, and my only remaining Vice is wings. I'm from Portland, Oregon and just moved to Tampa two weeks ago and was excited to try the original hooters. Was hooters my favorite before? No. Wings are amazing in Portland. But I still ate wings at hooters maybe 3-4 times a year during football season. These were the oiliest, most tasteless wings (um they were supposed to be medium and had NO flavor) I've ever had. They were worse than strip clubs wings, if that's even a thing here. I think wings from KFC or Popeyes would be better. Requesting more sauce was useless because it just slid off the oily wings. Absolutely disgusting. I'll never go back. read more
