It's best to go early. Plenty of benches and covered areas for comfort while in the sun. Great place to walk with your dog or go on a date. There were also other places you could park further down the walk if you don't want to start at the end near the bridge. Lovely walk that I would enjoy doing again.

The views of the Potomac are lovely and the urban + historic vibe is a real treat. The underpass is a great area to to hang out, get out of the sun and people-watch as there are sometimes dancers, group workouts, etc., going on. It gets a bit shady (aka questionable) here sometimes - hence the periodic police presence. The bathrooms and nearby areas can get trashed which is truly a shame. I would not come here after dark, but that's just me. I've been here many times and have some stories to tell so just putting that out there. Don't let it deter you, just use common sense and be aware of surroundings and you'll be A-OK :)

It's nothing fancy, just a community rec center with a weight/machine room and class area. They do offer pretty decent classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights--one night is a weight class and the other an aerobics class. If you're looking for high end machines and weights with a nice locker room, this place is not for you. Most of the devices are old and the space it tight, but if you're on a budget or just want to get a quick workout in, the Lee Center will get the job done. There is also a tennis court and basketball court, as well as a baseball diamond where little league teams come out to practice and play. I haven't been by to see if the pool is open...it was closed last summer. Hopefully it's open so I have an easy way to cool off during this summer heat! The staff is super nice as well. They're all locals and know everything about the area, so even if you're not in need of a place to work out, they are a great resource for anything and everything to do and find in Alexandria.

Unfortunately there are only a couple of lanes available in the deep end as the rest of the deep end is saved for things like water aerobics. The weight room was pretty disappointing. It was missing quite a bit of equipment I would expect in a weight room. I ended up choosing a different gym for my weight lifting, as I was constantly having to change my planned workout due to a lack of equipment. The pool is good though.

I think mid 20's which was ok for a littke while. After about an hour into it my ears and fongers were starting to feel numb. The indoor recreation center had not opened yet and I think that would have been better fun for everyone. They do a great job in terms of the maintenace andnthere was also no trash around like what younwoukd see at some other parks in the city. Plus this park and rec center was ckose to where we were at. I wouldn't mind coming back here sometime to check out the actual recreation center.

My other little nephews were able to play at the playground and soft playroom. The boxing room where my other nephew was training was cramped but it is quite state of the art and had all the necessary equipment and boxing ring. There's really not much to it, but it's such a nice getaway if you want peace and quiet. I haven't seen more than 3 people at the park and any given time, and sometimes I am the only one! During a time where many people want to be outside of their houses but still avoid people, this park is definitely an answer to that.
