Cinemark Dallas XD and IMAX is a movie theater in Dallas with an assortment of theater types from…read moreIMAX Digital, XD (with DBox Seating), and 2D Digital screens with recliners. My review focuses on the different types of seating and the greatness of online ordering. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Theater, Return) Atmosphere - Upon entering, you'll find a huge concession stand in the middle complete with movie candy and snacks to entice you as you make your way to order popcorn. There's an arcade on the right, and another concession stand for ordering more food along with tons of seating. If you order ahead, you can pick up your concessions here (see below for more details). 1 Star. Service - I'm going to focus on the Cinemark app. Who needs Moviefone when I can use the app for everything? I can select a theater, choose a movie, choose my seat, and even order concessions. Seriously, kudos to the Cinemark team, I show up at movie time, pick up my popcorn and concession that I ordered online, and head to my movie. No stress/wait, just time saved. 1 Star. Theater - Not all screens are the same. Here's a breakdown of what to expect: 1. IMAX - It's IMAX Digital - not a full-blown IMAX experience, but still good. The IMAX screen is dedicated to one side. It has its own concession stand, but it's never open. Finally, these are regular seats - no recliners. 2. XD - This is Cinemark's best experience. Huge floor to wall screen with reclining seats. There are also a few DBox seats which are more immersive (and expensive). There are two XD screens at this location. 3. 2D Digital - This is Cinemark's standard screen. They have multiple screens that vary in size, and they all have reclining seats. If you're not sure what experience your movie is showing on, check the website or app. Most blockbuster movies will be shown in IMAX and XD opening weekend, then will move to the smaller 2D Digital screens. Expect to pay about $50 for 2 people and concessions. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I really like the convenience of selecting a movie and buying it online along with my concessions. I'm also a Movie Club member (check Cinemark for details as pricing varies by location) and buying/refunding tickets and concessions are super easy. 1 Star.

Painful experience. The IMAX tickets cost more than the national average for IMAX, so we assumed…read morethey would at least be decent seats. We sat in middle back row and they were the best seats in the house, which is awful to think about. The spacing of the seats is impractical, immoral and greedy. Everyone is packed in together super close in super tiny uncomfortable seats like economy class on an airplane. No comfy recliners like the other screens in this theater, and no room to walk to your seat if you can't walk perfectly balanced on a tightrope--I'm handicap and I stumbled and almost fell trying to reach my seat and trying to get out of it. Once you get into the seat, if you can, they are unusually low for the height of even a normal screen. I imagine most seats in the IMAX theater would require you look up the whole movie and strain your neck, especially the handicap seats. The seat was so uncomfortable that similar to an airplane after about an hour I started to cramp horribly and sitting there started to be very painful and distracted from the movie--something that never happens in other cinemark, cinepolis, alamo and look theaters. It was only the horrible seats in this one to blame. The cramped spacing also causes obstructed views, you will absolutely miss part of the movie because of the heads of the people in front of you. It was also far from the bathroom, didn't include the option to order concessions to your seat like other cinemark theaters (probably because absolutely no one can walk in between those seats) and the concession stand outside the IMAX did not have the full concession menu. In short, you are paying above average IMAX costs for a far below average IMAX experience. It was literally physically painful for me and uncomfortable for my able bodied friends. Just skip it.

Instead, the experience was so atrocious it genuinely ruined the evening, and I'm honestly embarrassed we recommended this theater and brought her there. Our movie started at 3:40 PM. We arrived around 3:15 PM, seated early, and ready to order. No server ever came. Thirty minutes later, during previews, I had to leave the theater to ask someone for help. They assured me someone would be in. We kept waiting... Our table also had not been cleaned from the previous showing and still had leftover food and drinks sitting there. We finally placed an order around 4:05 PM after flagging down multiple employees: 2 burgers, popcorn, mozzarella sticks, 2 beers, and a Sprite. The beers arrived first. The popcorn came 30 minutes later and was freezing cold and stale. I asked THREE times for my Sprite before finally getting it nearly an hour later. The mozzarella sticks and only ONE burger arrived around 5:20 PM. The second burger never came at all. The credits rolled at 5:40PM. Our service lights were on almost the entire movie and nobody came. The most disappointing part was the response from management. I completely understand being short staffed on a holiday, but the manager was cold, dismissive, and offered excuses instead of accountability or empathy. At some point, if the kitchen and service are that underwater, you have to stop pretending you can provide a luxury dining experience. To their credit, they comped most of the food (most of it was missing or poor quality anyway), but honestly that does not make up for an experience that completely derailed what was supposed to be a special Mother's Day outing. We live nearby and have had good experiences here in the past, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, after today, we will absolutely not be back.

We didn't want to make a big deal of it so we shifted over to the next few seats, but then a group arrived and let us know that those were their assigned seats. So we got up and moved to the top row, where all of the seats were broken. Recliner didn't work nor did the button to notify the staff. Throughout the movie there was a loud disturbing banging behind us. Also the service was extremely slow. It took an hour to receive my food and when I did, this was the presentation and the food was cold. The brisket was sparse and the tots barely had barbecue sauce. The bathrooms were filthy. Trash everywhere and the stalls had fluids on the wall. It was very uncomfortable. My friend and I went to speak to the manager, Miguel, who did not accept any accountability for the quality of the service and the overall experience. He repeatedly mentioned that we could've gotten up and gotten a staff member for our issues. Why should we as guests get up in the middle of the movie several times to tell the staff how to do their job? Piss poor service. I do not recommend this theater and won't be back.

We probably could have moved since there was an abundance of empty seats. There couldn't have been more than 10 other patrons at our showing. We decided to just stay in our pre-selected seats. The restrooms were deplorable! In all, we enjoyed the movie and our time together, but this theater is in desperate need of renovations.

Sat down at the bar - ordered cocktail, street corn, and a cauliflower crust pizza to share for two. The pizza came out looking like it was broken and it was barely warm. Nothing says an adult dinner like lukewarm pizza - the bartender didn't seem all that friendly so we ate it instead of sending it back to be reheated. The street corn was decent. The service was far worse - received paper napkins and no silverware, even though the cloth napkins (rolled with silverware inside) were in a tray right next to us. I asked our server and got them myself. We weren't even offered plates - what are we supposed to eat the pizza on??? Never asked if we wanted crushed pepper or shredded cheese for the pizza. Lesson learned - eat dinner before showing up to this theater.

We recently saw Project Hail Mary here on a Tuesday night. My husband bought the tickets in advance on Fandango so he could reserve our seats. He said it was surprisingly cheap, and my husband NEVER says that! LOL! The strip mall has a lot of parking, so you are bound to find something close. Check-in is just inside the door. The different screening rooms wrap around the hall. The aisles are wide so that you and a server can get through without bumping into the recliner chairs. The chairs are decently comfortable, but the middle seats get used a bit more than others, so you might notice that they aren't as supportive nowadays. There is a swing table with a QR code to access the menu. WiFi is free. ADH is really strict about phone use during movies and with unnecessary talking. They will not hesitate to boot you, but they have softened their stance a bit now that the menus are accessible by phone. I ordered everything online. The process was super easy to add drinks and food. I didn't like having to pull out my credit card and try to enter that in the dark. I really wish they had offered payments through PayPal and Apple Pay. We had margaritas, bottomless popcorn, and a pizza, but NO NAPKINS! My popcorn was given to the guy next to me, but he was nice and said, "This must be yours.". I handed it to my husband. The servers cane and went several times bringing food and drinks to various people. The movie started and still no pizza. I was not happy about this. We got there early so I wouldn't have to eat in the dark. It finally arrived, but I was not impressed. I ordered the Margherita. It was soggy, so the crust didn't hold the ingredients. I had to fold each slice NY style to prevent myself from wearing it. The mozzarella rounds on top were not really melted. They were still thick circle slices. I would not order this again. The popcorn was good, but I wasn't sure how to get seconds for our bottomless order. The QR code did have something that said seconds, but I didn't dare turn on my phone to put in a request during the film for fear of being booted. Maybe next time I will just get a standard popcorn. It's cheaper. Film was loud! Too loud for my hubby. He had his fingers in his ears the entire time. I was okay with it, but you definitely wouldn't want to make a habit of coming to see films here and risk your hearing longterm. ADH has some fun old films that they show each month. These special events often include props related to the film. It looks like fun. We will have to check it out eventually. We usually come here for new screenings that aren't available on streaming yet. They also have a monthly membership that allows you to see multiple films each month without the hassle of paying each time. That's a great idea for the movie aficionado or someone who likes to go out regularly. I do love the movie experience and try to support this local film house whenever I get a chance.

Unfortunately, this event was the complete opposite. I booked a private premiere screening of The Devil Wears Prada, and the Event Sales Manager made multiple promises that the theater ultimately could not deliver. We were told we'd have early access for setup, access to Studio 1 with space for a private cocktail hour, and several other accommodations that simply did not happen. The day of the event, my team and I were left scrambling trying to adjust in real time while hosting guests. To make matters worse, every single filet mignon steak served was overcooked. For a premium theater experience with premium pricing, that's unacceptable. But the most alarming part came after the event. I left with a confirmed zero balance. Then, TWO DAYS LATER, I was hit with an unexpected charge of nearly $2,000 on my Amex. When I questioned it, I was told the Event Sales Manager's "last day was tomorrow" and that I should direct any questions to a local representative. No accountability. No transparency. Just chaos. This was supposed to be a polished, memorable premiere experience. Instead, it was stressful, disorganized, and financially questionable. Never again.
