Apparently, this is the second annual festival here in downtown Carrollton. It was November 5, 2011 from 11am-11pm. I imagine that next year it'll be around the same time. The name "Festival at the Switchyard" comes from switchyard/railway tribute as there are 3-4 rail lines (including the shiny new DART rail) in the immediate area. It was actually a really cool festival! There were some vendor booths set up for various things (apparel, knick-nacks, etc) including FOOD. The real Fletcher's Corny Dogs had a booth there. Yes, the famous corny dogs from the State Fair were available here. They also had funnel cakes. Another booth had fresh spun cotton candy (with no crazy colorings added, just sugar), the one next to that had fresh squeezed lemonade. Agave Azul (best Mexican place ever) had a booth, right outside their restaurant, selling beef fajitas. There was beer/wine available from a couple of booths... PLUS all of the shops on the square were open. Many of these places being restaurants, which serve booze. I don't know if Agave let people take margaritas outside, but you could always ask! In addition to all of this, they had tons of bands/acts going on all day. Some were in the small gazebo in the square and some were on a big ass stage right next to Agave. The headliner was Third Eye Blind (Hello, 90's flashback!) and they stuck right to their schedule and went on stage at 930pm. They put on a really good show, and it was nice to see them back in town so soon following Taste Addison. If you get the chance to see these guys live and dig the 90's nostalgia of jamming to their hits, then I recommend it. We got there late, because we mostly wanted to see 3eB. But it was still a lot of fun. And most importantly, FREE. Parking is free (though incredibly limited) at the DART station nearby, at various spots surrounding the square, and some people even parked under the 35 overpass. No tickets to buy (like the State Fair) for food, but make sure you've got cash. They did have ATMs available right on Broadway st, but the transaction fee was almost $4 (plus, whatever your bank is going to charge you).. I learned my lesson and will next time just bring cash with me. The biggest problem we encountered was that by the time the headlining band went on, a lot of booths were already completely shut/packing up (out of product), and other booths were out of popular items (out of funnel cakes at 9pm??) and certain kinds of beer. Overall, this was really fun. I'm super glad it was free, but if there were a small entry fee next year (and I mean small- not the way the Wildflower Festival has started gouging people the past 10 years), I'd be happy to support the city where I live by buying a ticket. I highly recommend that people carpool, check the schedule for bands/events/kids things, and plan accordingly. The square is really quite small and I can imagine that it was quite crowded for a lot of the day. Looking at the website, I see that Yelp had a booth there, but I sure missed it! :( Maybe they were shut down by the time I got there (or, quite possibly, I'm blind). For example face painting,which was beautiful by the way, had at least 40 kids in live. We didn't partake in anything like that which included all of the rides and bouncy items... Not all 40 per line but long lines none the less. In any event the crafts and games were a hit with my kids and I was happy to hear other music such as pop like music that the kids enjoy. All the vendors are local so you really do get a taste of Addison. There's one main stage and then two smaller stages on campus where performances are going on through the festival. The mayor even came out to greet the people all 3 days on the main stage. There were also a bunch of art exhibits and vendors as well. Plus some carnival rides and games. So there's definitely a lot for family and friends to do out. My suggestion is come on an empty stomach so you can stuff your face

He was an absolute joy to work with and went above and beyond to help make our day affordable and special. He even let us come set up a day early, when he could have hosted other events at that time and profited. The Plaza's setup is perfect for a reception--the lighting made our dance party incredible (people said it was one of the best they'd been to). The venue has a comfortable atmosphere, and the marquee out front with our names and wedding date was perfect. We got some great photos with sparklers out front at the end! I cannot recommend the Plaza highly enough!!!

I will go out on a limb here, I don't believe you will find a better Bluegrass festival anywhere in the country. 'But this Texas, there ain't any Bluegrass here'-you might say. Well you would be wrong. It's alive and very well right here in Framers Branch. Every act could be or has been or will be a headliner at any other festival that usually might have only one 'big name'. I have managed in two events to see everyone of my favorites. If you love great musicianship and acoustic music this is a can't miss show. I am anxious to see who will come next year. It's a great date for couples & families. Excellent shopping! One of my favorite booths for the pass 4 years has been Penny B Pottery. She's a true Artist! There always some awesome music to listen to and cold beer to sip, or glass of wine. If you can't make it to the State Fair you can get your corn dog fix here for sure! Make sure you mark your calendar every October for this one of a kind Art Festival!

This even was a case from California about an autonomous vehicle killing a cyclist. They put the CEO on trial for engineering the software for the vehicle and taking short cuts. This was a very fun date night and something different. We met some cool couples along the night and of course my partner bonded over parts of the case with them. This place is very clean and the bathrooms are nice and clean. There is a lot of parking throughout the little city of Garland. We did end the night across at a local watering hole and close it down with some good folks. If on Fever and see this as an option go ahead and choose it because it was a blast!

The Plaza Theatre in Garland is an art deco structure that has housed movies, and art events since…read more1941. It seats approximately 350 people, but it feels tight when even close to capacity because what is not updated/modernized are the chairs. Overall it is a decent venue and has good acoustics etc. what I was really disappointed in on my recent visit was that they added seats that sit up higher than the others on the first row, that obstructed the views of those of us on the second row. Also, there is not a traditional concession stand, as that part apparently was done away with in the remodel.
