The poboy wasnt overstuffed but they didnt skimp on the shrimp. My husband also got an order of fried okra which arrived hot and crispy which is no small feat given the travel time in Styrofoam container. This has to be the worst restaurant in New Orleans! They sent some weird breaded patty labeled as a crab cake! That wasn't a crab cake, as you can see from the picture it's some sort of just weird textured science experiment! The fish tasted eggy and the shrimps were unforgettable. Hooks is a spot I've passed by for years. Well on this day I was w a couple of transplants from Michigan and they raved over hooks and said it reminded them if home. This would sound good to an out of Towner but was a red flag for me lol. We decided to go with the VIP platter ($25). It included shrimp, fish, oysters and fries and some hush puppies. Served in the big tin pan and topped off w/ lemon pepper seasoning and came w 2 Cajun sauces. We asked for 2 more due to the size and was charged an additional .50cent per sauce. The portion was ok the seafood was fried hard. The oysters had that pre battered frozen taste but the lemon pepper seasoning was a good touch but overall it was just ok. The best thing was it was hot. I would say it's a notch above long john silver & more expensive. This was sadly disappointing. We spent 45 dollars on food that we can get back home(and better) for half the price. The pictures on doordash are so misleading. My brother and I doordashed the combination plater(shrimp and osyters) and jalapeño poppers and both came unseasoned, bland, and with no type of sauce. To me there seemed way more liver than wings Wings were seasoned well with thin crispy breading and a citrus/lemon flavor. Pretty meaty but also a bit dry, had to dip in the ranch and marinara provided. I got about 4 wings. There was a ton of liver and I definitely couldn't finish it. Similar breading except the lemon. However I feel like the liver has more nooks and crannies it made it taste like there was way more breading than necessary. I also took full advantage of the dips with those. Came here Saturday, Oct 20, to pick up a to go order for a group of people and I'm glad we choose this place because it was sooooo good! I only had to wait a few minutes whenever I arrived for my order and the food was fresh/hot when I made it back to our house. I ordered the catfish and shrimp platter that came with fries and a side of okra. The portion were great and the fish was fried hard just like I like it! I even had leftovers to come back to. They also sell candy bars and bottled soda, for your sweet tooth. My food is always seasoned to perfection and satisfies my hungry. Their portions are so large I usually have to eat the rest later. I called them over the phone and placed my order which was very convenient. You can also place your order online and pick it up. The guy on the other end of the line asked what did I want on my sandwich. I ordered a Shrimp PoBoy dressed with Mayo, lettuce,and tomatoes. I added cheese to it as well. I asked what size did the Po-Boy come in? He said it was a 12 inch Po-Boy that come with fries and a drink. I thought wow it was a combo for a great price. He said it would be ready in 20 minutes. It was perfect timing. When I arrived he asked did I want seasoning on my fries? I never had anyone to ask that question. I told him he didn't have to season them. I didn't want the season to take away the taste of my shrimp PoBoy. I paid for my food and the guy at the window said; and "grab a can drink from the cooler". I was given my food and I rushed back to my family's home so I can eat in peace. OMG..... It was so delicious. The shrimp was tasty, big and juicy, flavored just right. There were more than 12 shrimp on this Po-Boy. The fries were hot and just enough. The sandwich was dressed perfectly, not too much or too little.
