Hooked fish w/ potato salad and greens

If it's available, get the purple berry beer!!! Wow! We had three of them. So good! Great friendly and helpful wait staff. Delicious squid appetizer. I ordered the fish, which I believe was baked and it was perhaps the best fish I've ever had at a restaurant. My husband got the fish & chips which came with a yummy asian salad. He says it was hands down the best fish & chips he's ever had. Hokey Pokey ice cream dessert was also excellent. This place really hit the spot after a long day at Abel Tasman.

Place has amazing food and beer along with great views. The only downside of this spot is their service is spotty.

Good looking food. Craft beer at good prices with decent selection of local options. Fantastic view on a nice day!

This is a good place for happy hour, dinning, or just grabbing some baked goods for the road

My partner and I shared a half scoop of chips (with a ketchup packet for $0.50 extra) and two…read moregurnard fillets. We spent around ~$23. At the time that we ordered, there were 4 different fish that you could choose from. The service was quick and there is a clock behind the order counter that tells you how long your estimated wait time will be (ours was about 30 minutes on a Sunday evening). The fish and chips does not come with any dipping sauces or lemon, but there is extra salt and bottles of malt vinegar on the tables. The chips were well salted and thoroughly cooked and the fish was perfectly breaded and fried (not to soggy or crispy). Everything was very tasty! I would highly recommend stopping here for fish and chips if you're in Mapua.

Local fish & chips place that everyone loves in Mapua! We usually get whatever they have on daily…read morespecial (depends on the season.) One scoop of chips is $4.90. I've seen other places offer soggy & cold $3/scoop chips but chips from The Smokehouse is definitely worth paying $5! You can take it to go and have it at the wine bar or the brewery at Mapua Wharf. Perfect for a sunny day lunch/dinner. If you're there on a busy day, be aware of the line up and wait time. I've seen people waiting for their food for 40 mins. I suggest you place your order first and then go wander around the wharf! They also sell smoked fish and pate at the counter. Will try the smoked fish next time!
