Great atmosphere, friendly service and the burger was amazing! Good selections of beers to go with it too.

They definitely did some pretty unholy yet righteous things with their budgets. Winds were great as well. Great local hangout.

We found out about The Nelson Market through chatting with one of the winery hosts. Lucky because…read morethis one was great! It's only on Saturday's from 8:00am to 1:00pm (or more likely to about 1:30pm). We dropped in right around Saturday during lunchtime. There's an excellent variety of vendors; a mix of food, arts and crafts. This is definitely the best market we've been to in New Zealand! We checked out a couple places: 1) Banjo Brews Kombucha We always love trying new kombucha places. This one you can sample all their flavours (around half a dozen). We ended up getting one bottle, the Himalayan ($4.00 NZD). 2) Dutch apple donut ($4.50 NZD). I never caught the name of this vendor but they were making fresh apple donuts. We got one fresh out of the fryer! Tasty and filled with a bunch of goodies. 3) Little Shaggery Farm We spotted some dried fruit (apple crisps and dried plums). We tasted both and really liked the apple crisps ($7.00 NZD for 150g bag). They were just the right sweetness. Perfect for snacking. We also tried two varieties of their pears ($4.00 NZD/kg); chojuro nashi and shinseiki nashi. 4) Windsong Orchard We spotted this place selling organic plums. They had two types: elephant heart and omega plums ($6.00 NZD/kg). We sampled the elephant ears, which were super sweet, so we ended up buying a few for the road. 5) Bratwurst Grill They specialize in traditional Bavarian sausages. This spot was non-stop busy and ended up selling out! Crazy. We tried a bratwurst ($5.00 NZD); great bread, tasty sausage and the mustard was fantastic. The lady ran out of bread and was selling just the sausage ($4.00 NZD). People were still buying them. They have a counter selling sausages to take home. The dried/fermented salami looked really, really good. Authentic and great prices. 6) The Wrapshack We shared a falafel ($12.00 NZD). Homemade chickpea patties with fresh herbs & spices, garlic hummus and mint yoghurt. This is one hefty wrap. Flavours were decent but nothing overly memorable. We sampled a couple other vendors and browsed the wares. If you're in Nelson on the weekend, it's a must!

Also food to eat while you are there such as empanadas and ice cream (mixed berry and ginger and mandarin were both great). Local country and blues guitarist added to the atmosphere. Don't miss if you're in Blenheim on Sunday morning

My hubby had the burger - it was massive and he loved it. Daughter had the chicken and waffles which were a little spicy for her taste. I had the brisket and eggs. Perfectly poached eggs and great bread. Unfortunately the brisket wasn't great, a little tough and lots of fat. Overall I would recommend and would return to try other items. They had a nice looking outdoor area also.

In my final few months in New Zealand I lived in a super small town, less than like 7k people small. It only had 1 main street and this was one of the few highlights of it. This restaurant is popular for the bbq, the inside of it gives off a USA vibe too. It had a big old looking front of a farm truck that they used as their cafe order window, barrels everywhere(hence the name) felt like I was somewhere in the middle of America eating here. As far as the food goes, it's a versatile place. The BBQ is their specialty but they also have some fun breakfast items and, a fantastic gourmet donut selection. I've had the pork ribs and lamb ribs, I loved both equally as much. Can't go wrong with either choice. If you're there for lunch give the brisket burger a try! And for breakfast try out the donuts or get the smoked slamon eggs benny on a bagel with a Chai Latte! Chai in New Zealand just hots different. They also have a carnivore brunch platter which is something I would expect in the deepest parts of Texas haha. So if that's your thing go for it. Sausage and bacon are really the only meats I can do for breakfast. The nice thing about their breakfast menu is it's all day! The prices are pretty high here, but it's one of the only "nicer" restaurants within about 20km, so I guess it's understandable that you pay for some quality food and a nice night out dinner. I enjoyed this place a lot. All the memories with friends, the friendly staff, great food at any time of the day. It kinda reminded me of home and that was comfy. It's a 5 star from me!
