Had an absolute blast fishing with Captain Steve Mitchell yesterday. Took my son and his friends for his birthday. Caught the boat's limit of Halibut. Couldn't be happier. Will definitely be doing another trip with Hook'd Up Sportfishing again in the near future. Thank you Captain Steven Mitchell!!!

Halibut Fishing Trip May 24, 2019 We booked a private charter (6 men) with Hook'd Sportfishing. Captain Steve and Deck mate James was fantastic. We left from the Berkeley Marina J Dock. Captain Steve and James were early, which is always good to see when your scheduled to leave at 6am. We had a late start due to a fellow charter couldn't get his boat started and Captain Steve jumped into help. I thought that was really cool, he didn't have to, but he did. Once we got ready to move they went over the safety instructions, where the life vests were, etc. Once we started to move, Deck Mate James showed us different things from other fishing charters catching fish, to site seeing like Alcatraz Island, Golden Gate Bridge to a swimming sea lion. Our first stop was in SF to pick up ice for our future catch, and over to the live bait section. Then off we went. Captain Steve hit his first spot and within minutes we had fish on. From that point forward, we fished. If it got slow he would reposition us according to his fish radar or other areas he knew about. Right around 2pm when most charters quit and you got what you got you go back in to dock. Not Captain Steve, we were 4 short of our 18 Halibut and he asked if we want to limit out, and we said heck ya, let's go. He went to another 2 spots until we got our limit. Captain Steve said it ain't over until the fat lady sings, he was right, it got us pumped and we tried our hardest. In addition to the Halibut we caught 2 Stripers., 1 sand shark (released) and a stingray (small bat-ring) I caught that one, that was a nice fight, he was released. Everything on this boat is according to the rules, they measure every fish, too small by a 1/4" back in the water they go. Forget any bad reviews you read, this was my first trip on this charter and we have already booked a Salmon Trip in July. For any future trips, this is my boat. Prices are fair, you can bring an ice chest with drinks and food on board. I've been on other charters and they try and get you fish, if you do, you do, if not too bad and they leave on time. I loved the personal attention Captain Steve & James gives you, you end up becoming family. I can honestly say this is my BEST fishing trip ever. There is a small restroom onboard just in case you need it. When you return to the dock, Captain Steve brings out all the fish for you for a photo op. Then he will fillet them. Another great job, we ended up with so much fish fillets. We tipped him for this service, filleting 18 Halibut & 2 Stripers was a lot, but he didn't complain. If your looking for a fishing trip, definitely use Hook'd Fishing aka "Top Gun". Fishing is always hard, you don't always catch fish, but I believe with Captain Steve you have the best chance to do so. Thanks again Captain Steve and James, we will see you again in July, let's limit out in Salmon!!

Captain Steve knows sturgeon fishing. If you want to get on a sturgeon, this is your boat. The fish were not biting that well but the sturgeon were under the boat all day and saw more than a handful breach the water. I have nothing but compliments to say and will for sure be coming back for round 2 before the end of the year. Thanks for the awesome experience Captain Steve!

This review is long overdue. 2 weeks ago I had the pleasure of experiencing an amazing fishing day with my family and Captain Steve @ Hook'd Up Sportfishing. I've only been on a charter in Cabo while fishing for Mahi. This sturgeon experience was a level up. I'm out with the cuzzos to take their 95yr old Grandpa out fishing as this could be his last trip. God's plan worked out as on first bite Grandpa reeled in a 5 footer! It wouldn't have been possible without Steve's coaching and patience to get the fish hauled in. Soon after we all got some action, with my fight of a lifetime coming in heavy. Never have I ever fought a fish that hard and Steve was in my ear the whole time to ensure we didn't lose it. I'm eager to go again after that experience that Steve made happen. Look no further when it comes to choosing your next charter. Captain Steve will ensure your journey from sunrise to sunset will be worthwhile. Thank you Steve for being so cool to work with, your passion you put into your craft and the energy & knowledge you filled us with that day. I appreciate you brother!

Captain Steve and his crew are awesome. My hubby booked a trip, thinking we were going to be fishing the Bay, not the Delta. Long story short, Steve and company patiently waited for us to arrive after we fudged the driving directions - and didn't make a big deal about us being late. From there, it was a great trip. Steve is a good host, he sets expectations well and is very excited to coach you through landing some big fish. Our morning started off with some undersize sturgeon - which we released - and then no bites for a while. Undeterred, Steve changed strategy and was happy to stay out on the water until seeing it come good. In the end, we caught 51" and 58" sturgeons, which made for a really happy fishing party. We were back after dusk, with our late-in-the-day catches. The team then cleaned and filleted the fish, so we had plenty of sturgeon to take home and cook. Worth noting is that you should confirm the pickup location, so you don't end up on a manic drive. Also, this is a sunrise-to-sunset trip during the winter, so bring plenty of food and drink--and of course, warm and windproof clothing. Facilities onboard are basic; it's definitely not a cheese-and-bubbly cruise. But, as far as skipper and crew go, they do their best to keep the day fun and catch them fish! Thank you Steve and crew for a memorable day out!

First, I want to say that I have been deep sea fishing in charter boats in both the bay and open ocean more times than I can count. None of them compare to my experience this past weekend on our trip with Captain Steve and his deckhand James! This was my first time doh g a 6 pack. Meaning that only six people are on the boat. What separates Hook'd up from the other charter boats is that they took the time to teach me the little things that helped me catch more fish. Mind you, I have been on several boats and I never knew that I wasn't supposed to hard set the hook when I feel a halibut bite. Just real slow and keep pressure on the fish. I have lost soo many halibut in the past. I caught five keepers during my trip with Hook'd up. (only got to keep three) There deckhand James is the best an he's super helpful and Captain Steve will do whatever it takes to put you on the fish. Benefits to the 6 pack: - You get individual attention. And don't have to wait to get your bait, and get your lines uncrossed etc. - You learn far more. There is more time for the deckhand and Captain to teach you the nuances of fishing for halibut and striper or whatever you are fishing for. - You catch more fish. The boat is more nimble and can pin point the best spots to fish. Ps. Hopefully next time I go, Captain Jay on that other boat doesn't punch in on our spot again.

Tons of fun! He knew all the fish hiding spots, we reached our max within a couple hours. We fished for cod. He hooked up his poles for us to use with bait and weights, everything you need, helped whoever wanted help with unhooking fish, and filleted them all for us when we were done! We all want to go again for sturgeon next time! Such a cool dude

Hey everyone I just want to say if your looking to go on this boat it's the best decision you can make . Captain Steve is dedicated to put you on a fish and he definitely knows where to find them . Not only that he is a real cool guy and it's really important for him to make his clients happy . If I where you I wouldn't go on any other charter but this one

Hook'd Up Sportfishing is hands down the best charter that I have ever been on. LIMITS... LIMITS... LIMITS!!!! The 6 of us all scored limits of monster halibut on 6/25/21, the day before the salmon season opened up, and a bonus striper from inside and outside the golden gate. But it would not have been possible without Steve and JT's drive and perseverance. The conditions were less than ideal and Steve informed us the night before that tides and wind were not favorable halibut fishing conditions and that most of the other charters weren't catching that many quality keepers but we wanted to go no matter what. With odds stacked against us, Steve and his deckhand JT kicked into high gear and put us on the fish. The 6 of us ended the day with 19 quality halibut (the crew caught one) and 1 striper, plus a couple of sharks that were released. We were close to getting limits at the end and Steve let us stay out there a little bit past our allotted time to finish with LIMITS. The biggest halibut we caught weighed in at 31 lbs. with an average of about 13-17lbs. Steve and JT cleaned our catch at the end of the trip. In total, we ended up with about 130-150 lbs of fresh California halibut meat to divide amongst the 6 of us. I will be definitely booking a salmon trip with him soon and a sturgeon trip once he returns back to the delta.

On Sunday, October 21, 2018, I went out fishing on Hook'd Up Fishing with Capt. Steve Mitchell. Steve is very knowledgeable about the different types of species inshore and offshore. This was first time fishing for Sturgeon and what a success. Steve taught everyone on board the boat how the technique of how to find the fish and how to catch them. You have to listen to the instructions, he wants you to catch fish and enjoy yourself. We lost two, due to our errors and landed a shorty which we immediately released, 43" and 53" White Sturgeon. Steve actually stayed out later, to try and get the third person his sturgeon. This was all completed by Steve cleaning the Sturgeon the way you want them. Plenty of pictures taken and great day on the water. Make sure you bring you license, sturgeon tag, food, drinks, warm clothing and sunscreen. Capt. Steve is the person for Sturgeon charters, SF Bay fishing and Salmon season fishing. His prices are reasonable and he fishes all year, even with a light charter.

The great thing about DSF is that they provide all the gear necessary for your catch. We were going out for Tuna as Bluefin are now found in the waters off the west coast, we were all pretty excited to go fishing. All we brought with us was food and drinks, having everything else included was a bonus. In the event we caught anything, they'll cut, clean, gill and give us fillets. The boat ride was awesome, no one got seasick thank goodness, there's ample seating inside and out. It was super foggy in the early morning, but cleared up by the time we started. I've not been on a fishing boat prior to this trip, and I was blown away at how scenic and beautiful the water was out there. The bright sunshine gave the water a super bright blue appearance, it was cool. Captain Kyle and his deckhand got everyone rigged up and ready to fish. The Captain is youthful and took his time answering questions and giving advice. His mixture of humor and knowledge of where the fish were was certainly a bonus because as soon as lines were in the water we heard, " Fish On!" That first Tuna took everyone on board including my son Parker to reel it in ( Posted Picture). What a freaking rush. It was exciting watching as everyone reeled something in on the boat. We laughed, joked and had such a fun day out on the water with friends. On our way back in to harbor the Captain pointed out several whale pods swimming around the boat, it was a trip seeing them jump. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about who caught the biggest tuna. In all honesty, that first one was the biggest in my book. I can't say enough great things about Captain Kyle and his Diamond Sport Fishing. Reservations were easy as charters go out practically daily either 1/2 or full days. The waters off of California are changing, getting warmer, they're seeing Bluefin Tuna and Marlin so who knows, maybe our next trip we'll catch something epic! Overall Impression: A+
