Hook, Line & Sinker - This is the head of a massive lingcod caught off shore of SB using tackle from the Shop! - Hunting & Fishing Supplies Near Me - Santa Barbara, California

Convienient (when they're on time) this is the second time I've chose this tackle shop and it's the second time I've showed up at their advertised opening time (8AM) and still had to wait for anyone to arrive at the shop very disappointing when you just need to buy quick bait read more

I'm a Midwest lake fisherman learning ocean fishing. This place has amazing service. They are knowledgeable of the area, current fishing habits, what's working and what's not. Good range of lure/bait selection for fish in the area. First trip out, went solely on the recommendation of the staff for bait and location. Came back with a bucket of sand bass! Best place around! read more

Hook, Line & Sinker - Striped Bass - Hunting & Fishing Supplies Near Me - Santa Barbara, California

They are a family owned business and are open 6 days a week and offer a huge selection of freshwater and saltwater fishing gear and are very knowledgeable about both types of fishing . I highly recommend them. I would also say that when you go into their establishment you will become part of their family. Trust me when I say that HL&S is the best store for fishing not blowing smoke lol. Thanks again HL&S for all your help. Ty Smith read more

I've been surf fishing for over 25 years and I know my way around a tackle shop. And I know my baits. I called to ask if they carry live blood worms. I was met with a scoff and a "no, we carry lug worms- L U G - same thing". First of all, I know my baits and fish with lugs a lot, but I prefer bloodworm if I can find em. I don't need someone to spell the name to me like I'm a kid, and then proceed to tell me they're the same. Very different worm. He went on to tell me that he begs to differ...dude I was just calling to ask if you had em, not get a attitude and snarky remark and even have him spell them for me! Can't stand bad customer service when I'm trying to support your small business, don't act like your doing me a favor. Guess I know where I won't be recommending to tons of my fishing buddies in the area. I've heard the same from other fisherman but now I know for myself. read more

Great local tackle shop! Under new ownership, we'll stocked, and carrying on the legacy of this great establishment!

This little shop is filled with good priced fishing tackle for all our local type fishing areas. As a novice and a female I was a little shy to enter but found the owner most helpful in every way possible with my questions . I didn't feel pressured and I loved the friendly/local/family vibe they had offering to help me tie things and get set up even with some things I didnt buy there. One if my favorites in Santa Barbara. read more

This is a great little LOCAL shop to frequent. they have tons of fishing tackle in their shop or can order what you need. They do repairs as well. I would say, if you cannot find what you need, just ask them. It is under new ownership as of this year and worth a shot. Go fishing!! read more

Nice place. Friendly. Fair prices. Was greeted warmly. The layout of the store was easy to navigate as well.

I am a novice fisher"woman" and was so thankful to both Tiffany and Captain Bacon for their help and support. I didn't know a thing about what I needed, just had a location picked out to fish. They helped me pick the best items and were mindful of my budget and inexperience. Tiffany was so friendly and gave me a bunch of tips and didn't tease me too much! I'm happy to say I caught a few fish, had a great time and will visit the store in the future. read more

It seems like Hook Line & Sinker has been around forever. I know the ownership changed a few years ago (at least) but am happy to see them keeping it going. It is a bit of a hole in the wall but is packed with everything you need for fresh or salt-water fishing. The also sell licenses and run their own charter fishing boat (I hope to check that out with a small group some day). I have had them restring my reels (the machine is so much faster!) and usually find a reason to stop by a couple times a year at least. They have a load of consignment rods and reels so you can find a good deal. They were backordered on a crabbing item I was looking for and the stock was a little less than usual on this visit. Maybe that is because it is winter. I would recommend starting here for your fishing needs or some advice as you pick out your gear for the local holes. They may even point to some not-so secret spots. And, if you stick around for a bit, you are likely to hear some old fisherman wander through with a tall tale or to muse the weather.  I was told they are catching halibut and bass on the charter. So, I am getting excited for the new fishing year! read more

I was currently looking for a fishing set up for my 4 year old daughter. Shawn patiently provided me with great advise, tips, and provided me with the perfect combo for catfish along with some real cool nightcrawlers for bait! I took my daughter out this evening and she caught her very first fish using her first rod/reel with HL&S combo! Great store, great service, professional service at it's finest! Highly recommend for all your fishing needs! Thank you!!! -Raul read more

Really helpful staff - helped my 6 year old get a new pole and even helped us rig it. Great spot!

Best tackle shop around. Always has what I need (and more) and comes with free tips and advice from the shop owner/crew! And they have bait too. One stop shop. Thanks guys! read more

Hook Line & Sinker is a great bait shop. I've purchased a lot of good gear and had them spool several reels. No complaints. Would go back again. They have good frozen squid and I always get it there. Reasonably priced and a nice selection of saltwater tackle. read more

With Tiffany and her family at Hook Line and Sinker in Santa Barbara, fishing is a passion bordering on an obsession. They have the knowledge, experience and gear to help any fisherman, beginner or expert, salt water or fresh. Best fishing tackle shop ever. read more

Captain Dave runs a first class operation. Yes it is small but very much oriented to the local fishing scene. No big box crap. Why would you want to look through tons of unnecessary garbage to find maybe the right stuff. A real fisherman's tackle store and very friendly. read more

Good local fishing store with good pricing willing to give out-of-towners good advice. Skip the chain stores, buy local.

The woman running the store seemed to have more important things to do. not very helpful discussing the local fishing. The tackle shop on the pier is a lot better. read more

I am a fishing novice and went into the shop needing equipment for an upcoming fishing trip. Tiffany was extraordinarily helpful. She not only picked out all the equipment I needed but also handwrote instructions for every type of hook, bait etc. This is the wonderful part of shopping in person at a community store and not an online warehouse. read more

I live in Central Cal but travel through Santa Barbara on a monthly basis. I love stopping by their tackle shop. Their staff is super knowledgeable and have everything I need in one spot. Its worth waiting until I travel through town to pickup tackle that I need. I have also have my reels serviced by Tiffany. I use my gear hard and she always has the best recommendations to keep my gear in top shape. Coudlnt be happier Thanks everyone at Hook Line and Sinker! These guys are hacks! I brought in a beautifully wrapped rod to have just the butt end changed and these morons ripped all the beautiful turbo guides off along with the beautiful marble wrap and intricate triple thread wrap for reasons unknown, and then did a shit job reinstalling weird ugly guides from the early 60s. Then this dumb ass girl tries to pass it off with I don't know anything about it! Unbelievable!!! We'll see what they do about it read more

I went to Hook Line and Sinker today as I usually do my tackle purchases there. At the door was a sign that had been there awhile, stating that the person inside was not wearing a mask due to medical reasons and if anyone wished they would deliver the persons items to the door. When I inquired why they couldn't wear a mask while dealing with the public they gave what appeared to be a made up answer. Although the person at the counter had a buff around his neck he did not put it on to protect me, like I was doing by wearing mine and protecting him. If this store will not follow the guidelines set by the health department I will no longer be able to give them my business. read more

The selection at this store is big, these guys are super knowledgable about local fishing (and picking the right gear for it) and they're also a fun bunch of folks with just the right dose of sassiness to make you feel like you're with friends. read more

Great selection and affordable prices on tackle, friendly and willing to offer plenty of tips. However, I was forced to warranty a brand new rod that I bought here through the manufacturer due to misaligned guides and a no return policy on rods and reels. I should have meticulously inspected the rod before walking out the door with it (an assistant pulled the rod off the shelf for me after I had decided on brand and price point) but placed a little too much faith in both the reputation of the maker (Shakespeare) and the magnanimity of the shop owner (Tiffany). The rod directly from Shakespeare was almost as poorly made. As a result, Tiffany offered to sell both rods at well marked down prices in order for me to recoup my costs. I had to spend a little too much of my time to make all this happen, and it would have been nice to have the shop owner fight that battle with her distributor in my stead - or offer an exchange on a product I had never used. read more

Just realized these guys sold me a $100 used rod that was only worth 50 new. Don't trust them. Disappointed

Well it's easy for you to say that in hindsight. I assure you, that they not only gave me attitude for bringing in a different real, but they were also smarmy about it. Would not recommend, go elsewhere! read more

I am a manufacturer's rep, so my review should be taken in context. But I can tell you that when I dropped in on my way down the 101 to pay the store a visit, I was met with an understandably suspicious, then friendly and open smile by Tiffany. She happily shared with me their focus on tackle, bait, and equipment focused on local species only. Yes, their retail strip square footage is tight, but they cram a lot of product on their shelves for the local angler. If you want box store, then drive however many miles @ $3.75 a gallon to save $2 on a $12 lure. If you'd rather spend that drive time FISHING, then support this local business, maybe ask for a tip/pointer (which I suspect she'd gladly give), and get out on the water! Since I'm not a customer of the shop I will mitigate my rating accordingly with a solid 3 star.... read more

My son and I came from Northern California on a family trip for 5 days to Santa Barbara. We went to the store twice, and I think he called there about 3 times! My son loves fishing more than just about anything. Tiffany was amazing. She patiently answered all of my son's questions, taught him how to read a tide chart, recommended the best tackle for the kind of fishing he wanted to do, and gave him plenty of tips (plus trouble-shooting advice when he didn't catch fish on the first day out). I really appreciated the kind and full attention she gave us. I'd go back there any time we come to town. read more

Went to the store not sure what I was looking for. Found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Lots of stuff to choose from, seem to focus on local stuff which is great.
