Customer service was exceptional. No pressure. No judgments. Easy to do business with and John offered a fair price for items I no longer needed or wanted. Definitely a place I will return to when I find more broken, unwanted jewelry, to sell. p.s. I forgot to add that John, gemologist, offered to look at jewelry pieces and tell me whether it is 14k, its possible worth, etc., no charge. I will definitely be back, nice free service, friendly and no pressure. Can't beat that. read more

Took a diamond and gold ring there to sell was not happy with the price I was given however I went to the Alamoana hotel where they advertise buying diamonds and gold this weekend and they offered me 40% of what Honolulu Trading Company offered. They are the biggest rip off this people at Alamoana hotel. I wouldn't even bother going there. read more

I had some old jewelry I've been holding on to for years. Wanted to trade it in but always afraid of getting taken advantage of. I sat outside his shop in my car contemplating whether or not to go in. I finally did and it was the best experience. I appreciated his calming presence, kindness and honesty. Would definitely go back to him in the future! read more

Gerald and John give Great service and are honest dealer. They treat you like family.if they can't things they will tell you who may buy.

Thank you John!! Small little mom and pop shop - very personable and reasonable priced. We found exactly what we were looking for - ceremonial wedding rings and perfect sizes! read more

Over twenty um years ago my engagement ring was stolen, I thought I was okay with only my wedding ring all these years but my husband surprised me with a diamond ring from Zales, he told me the center was a full 1 carat and the side stones were 1/2 a carat total. Well we got a call from Zales stating we had the wrong certificate for my ring. When we went into Zales and got the correct certificate they didn't say anything to us and I just thought it was a change in the cert #. Well it turned out that my ring had the center stone 3/4 and the side stones were 3/4, total same but BS! Tried to resolve the problem with Zales but only for a 1/4 more carats of diamond we were informed it would cost anywhere from $1500.00 on up depending on quality, what BS!!! I was walking pass the Honolulu Trading Co. and saw a ring very simular to mine so I went in. I met Gerald there and he showed me the ring and also told me there's alot of other loose diamonds he had available that I would love. I tried to go back to Zales to resolve the ring problem but was given the same options, later one of the side diamonds fell out, Zales replaced it since it was insured but to me it was a sign to return the ring. I went home and talked to my husband, I told him that although he experience good service from Zales what they originally told him about the ring he bought wasn't true and they didn't want to resolve the issue that was satisfactory in my eyes. I told him that I am so grateful and appreciative that he bought me such a beautiful ring but Zales ripped him off, I wanted to return the ring and get a better one from the Honolulu Trading Co. It took me three tries to return the ring to Zales and I got a beautiful 1.22 carat solitaire diamond from the Honolulu Trading Co. for the same price my husband paid at Zales! I haven't stopped smiling yet!!! read more

Love the jewelry and vintage items in this shop. The owner will bargain a bit with you over prices, which is a bonus. My only complaint? The saleswoman was totally disengaged while I was searching for a pendant with a Tahitian pearl attached. She was looking out the window, wouldn't make eye contact, etc. I find this irritating when I'm getting ready to drop over $300.00 for an item. Those sales sign her paycheck, after all. I sold Tahitian pearl jewelry at an upscale shop for a year. Our whole focus was being educated about pearls and sales. Any down time was spent reading about Tahitian pearls or how to improve our sales. Whatever happened to a little common courtesy? I didn't expect her to name her first born after me, just make a little effort at being personable. Just letting the owner know that this salesperson probably costs him sales. Thanks for the opportunity to say what others might be thinking when they walk into this store. read more

Found "THE RING" at the Honolulu Trading Company..... it only took us a few dozen visits of snooping their cases of used, antique and vintage jewelry until one day a perfect oval cut sapphire with two triangle diamonds nested on either sides of it screamed out at me. I knew I wanted something different, not a ordinary diamond engagement ring but wasn't exactly sure what I would fall in love with.. until that sunny day the sapphire caught the light and sparkled like the cool blue ocean. I still get butterflies looking at my perfection. The staff at the Honolulu Trading Company is friendly and helpful, even after many visits of "just looking" and not puchasing.. they were always so welcoming. And when we finally found "THE RING".. they resized it free of charge, ready to pick up in just 3 hours. After finding "THE RING".. we stop by occasionally to find other treasures... like a pair of antique ivory rose earrings that I wore on our wedding day. Thank you Honolulu Trading Company! We Love You! read more

My friend and I decided to bring in our gold here to see how much we could get for it. The staff were so nice and accommodating, especially the woman (sorry I forgot her name) who helped us. My friend recvd a little less than a $1000 on her gold pieces, some of which they detached the pearls for her bc she wanted to keep it. They even took her silver Tiffany jewelry. I had some small gold pieces that got me $200 but I was happy. And when they said that a bracelet I brought in was fake, they said it in a way as to not embarrass me. Yes, though, I was a little disappointed. Overall great experience. Didn't have a chance to look at the jewelry but did noticed some beautiful pearls. read more

Can't say enough good things about Gerald & John..honest and ready to make a good deal

John was a delight to do business with, fair prices, lots of knowledge about gems and jewelry. Also looked at my coin estimates and told me those were fair prices, too, even though from another dealer. Easy and quick money. read more

First of all I'd like to say I was a little unsure and apprehensive about selling my jewelry, but one step into this place and I was out at ease. I cant you how friendly they were and how it didn't feel sleezy or high pressured at all. I came here because of the yelp reviews a d they did not steer me wrong. If I ever need to get something appraised or sell something I know without a doubt where I'll come. Thank you for making this a please experience. read more

This was such a pleasant experience! Gerald was courteous, professional, and generous with his appraisals. Not only is he knowledgeable about jewelry, but he also said I could send him pictures of, or drop by with a few of the rocks I am in possession -- and that he would help me establish who might be interested in them and what their values are. They also have a beautiful rock collection at the store! read more

Went in to sell some American Eagles "$50" Gold Coins. These gold coins contain 1 ounce of gold in them. They offered to buy our coin for 73% of the NY Gold Spot price. This is the absolute rip-off gold pricing we've found while shopping around! And in a rinky-dink store in a so-so location to boot. We eventually sold our gold coins at Hawaiian Island Stamp and Coin on Bishop Street for 98.25% of the London Gold Spot price. This may not seem all that big a deal to you, but on March 10, 2012, this is a difference of $433 that Hawaiian Island paid more than Mr. Ripoff Honolulu Trading Company. Note: Hawaiian Island Stamp and Coins deals in gold coins, not gold scrap. UPDATE June 2014: Au contraire dear OWNER/YELP ADVERTISER. You never told us about selling instead to a coin dealer for a higher price instead of taking your lower price. YOU JUST LIED. Everybody, do you think the owner would say this to someone who walked in? Really? If I recall, I felt you to be a slimy wheeler dealer. That was my impression of you at the time. Your pricing also bore this out. And your written excuse below is just more of your sliminess! Your place is really hard to get to and if you park in those other places, YOUR CAR WILL GET TOWED. Your store is indeed a two-bit (that's 25 cents for you young ones) place. read more

So glad I came here again. Don't know the guys name but he is super friendly and to the point. And like another review said, you don't have to take pictures of your stuff before making an appointment; you can just walk in. read more

A friend recommended that I go see John at Honolulu Trading Company when I had to clean up my aunt's hoarder house and try to raise money to help pay for her long-term care. I can't tell you how many bags I had to bring of assorted pieces that may or may not have been valuable. John and his staff always welcomed me and gladly and patiently inspected Aunty's jewelries for me. He paid me fair prices and helped us tremendously! A-1 personal and professional service. I knew there was a gold buyer in the building so I stopped by with my old jewelry that's been sitting in a drawer for the past ten years. John was there and buzzed me in, right away I felt secure knowing that you couldn't simply just walk in. He was very pleasant and friendly as he went through my stash. Separating the karat weights (10k, 14k, 18k) and checking a couple of items that I had doubts about being real...I was right. I also sold an old platinum set and an old class ring. I walked out of there very pleased with the amount I got. Quite frankly, I did an estimate at home using my food scale and an online gold estimator, I actually got more than I thought I would! Overall, I'm very pleased with not only the amount I received but also with the great service! read more

First 'Pawn Shop' experience & I was completely blown away... Expected to be haggled & given the run around & my; was I surprised! Customer service AT IT'S BEST, & even better! 'John' & his crew were not only very knowledgeable & courteous, their entire shop had an aura of 'aina' & respect. Took well over 110% care of me & my items & even linked me in with private collectors who made offers on the items they were not interested in. While I sat & talked story, John appraised personal items for free & even fixed another customer's gold chain free of charge also! Truly 'loves what they do' & it shows! Will be utilizing this connection frequently in the future... Thanks John, Greg, & the whole HTC crew; synchronicity is no less than AMAZING :) read more

I visited 4 well known jewelry shops in my quest to exchange my unwanted jewelry for cash. Honolulu Trading Company was by far, the most friendly, helpful, and encouraging of them all. Not to mention that they offfered me up to 3.5 times more than some other shops. The second closest offer that was made was still 20% less than what Honolulu Trading Company offered me. An overall great experience! I would highly recommend them. read more

Spoke with John, one of the owners. He was great, very engaging, friendly, and professional. He even asked if I shopped around just to make sure I got more than one quote before I made a final decision. I have to say, out of all the places I visited (not gonna mention names), this shop was the best and they gave me twice of what I was offered at the other places. John even offered me something to drink while I waited! Great service. I highly recommend this place! read more

Was very helpful and honest with his assessment and did not try to hustle.

John and Joe were so nice. Prices were fair and we purchased a few items. Wish we lived here as we would be regulars..

Gerald and John are rock stars! They are knowledgeable and reasonably priced. They even repair jewelry at a decent price.

I had read almost all positive reviews for Honolulu Trading Company and went there to see for myself if they were true. I certainly thought so! My mom and I were looking to sell some gold jewelry we no longer wear, and John was immediately able to help us. He was very knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. We really appreciated his professionalism, and when we had questions, he was able to answer them and even recommend another store to better help us with something else we were considering selling. We thought his prices were extremely fair; I also noticed they have a wide selection of jewelry available to purchase. It's so nice to be able to go to a store with such qualified employees that also offer great customer service. I would absolutely recommend Honolulu Trading Company to anyone looking to purchase beautiful jewelry at a great price, or to sell their no longer used gold. read more

I had never sold gold before but was told about Honolulu Trading Company by my sister who had researched various places and who'd had an excellent experience there. When I arrived I was warlmly greeted by Shirl who was able to assist me. After selling my gold for top dollar I was interested in possibly purchasing a ring setting and having my own diamond set in it. Shirl was not the least bit pushy but patiently showed me a large variety of settings, of which I chose one at an extremely reasonable price. The outcome of all I'd wanted to do was nothing but positive! I would definitely recommend Honolulu Trading Company to anyone who wants to buy jewelry and/or sell their no longer used gold! read more

When I first walked into this shop, I was disarmed by a young and beautiful woman, who smiled and asked if I needed help. I said I have some things to sell, and she guided me to John, I believe. Now when you look at these two people, you already know your not gonna have problems. They both had a casual, professional look about them and they were both knowledgeable, friendly and most of all, honest. I knew when he told me " why don't you keep that one because its a nice piece and you should give it to your kids or someone special". If that wasn't enough, he also advised me to take another piece somewhere else because you probably will get more for it because we don't sell much of those here. The way he said it was genuine concern for me, and I took his advice. Prices were fair, no waiting 3 days or a week for an appointment. This place for the staff alone gets 5 stars, and 5 stars to the shop. Looking for a fair deal..?? Check these guys out. read more
