Visited 6 June 2022 My cousin was visiting and planned to return home in 2 weeks (he is a U.S.A citizen but lives in Antigua). However, his passport was expiring so he needed to renew it. He called the passport office on 31 May and was able to get an appointment for 6 June. (The passport offices has in-person appointments for urgent and emergency services; his was considered an urgent need). For his appointment, he had to show printed proof of his international flight. (No walk-ins are allowed). On the day of the appointment, we arrived early since we were not familiar with the building. Luckily we did. There was a short line and before entering, visitors are screened by an agent outside the door. Then, once you state the reason for your visit, you are "approved" entry. After that, you go through a security screening and body scanner, similar to the airport screening, except, you keep your shoes on. However, everything in your pockets, metal including belts, watches, keys, and all electronic devices must be placed in the bin and through the scanner. Additional people are allowed in. I was surprised I was able to go in. I walked up expecting to be rejected entry since I was not the one with an ap. But, I had no issues accompanying my cousin. There were other families with multiple parties too. After that, visitors can proceed to the office where they are conducting business. The passport office is to the right once you exit the screening area. Once at the passport office, their are two more security agents directing visitors. First, you join the cue to check-in. The passport agent checks you in for your appointment and verifies you have all the required documents then gives you a number to wait for the next agent. The second agent then verifies your international flight and need for an urgently made passport. I read other comments that some people received their passport the same day, just a few hours later but my cousin was given an appointment for the following day to pick up his passport. A few things: - To pay the passport fee - a major credit card, or money order, or cash - have exact cash (they dont give change, they don't accept more than the fee amount, and they don't accept coins)! - print your international travel itinerary - leave gerbers, Leatherman, and other knives, multitools, and definitely all weapons in your vehicle - phone use, especially taking pictures, is prohibited unless explicitly allowed by the passport agent (that goes for the rest of the federal building too) - have coins for street parking Park in a designated slot on the street. Although there is a parking, I believe it is only for employees. There are guards at the parking lot entrance and signs the annotate the requirement for a permit. I was worried my cousin would have to reschedule his travel but making an appointment, visiting the agency, and being able to process the application on short notice was an impressive service I witnessed. I don't recommend abusing this process as a standard means to renewing your passport but if absolutely necessary in urgent or emergency circumstances, I would highly recommend it. Kudos to the Honolulu Passport Agency.

Renewing my passport... Ten years ago, I renewed my passport. I remember mailing my old passport to the mainland right before I went to Egypt. I received it back in time, so I wasn't too worried about mailing it to Pennsylvania this time. I went to my neighborhood post office to look for the passport renewal form, but there were none. I don't have a printer, so I'm unable to complete and print the form online. Therefore, I went to the Federal Building on the corner of Punchbowl and Halekauwila. I found metered street parking and entered from the Halekauwila door. After passing through security and showing my ID, I followed signs to the Passport Office. I understand that this office mainly serves those who need an expedited transaction and an appointment is recommended. I just wanted a form to fill out. I had my passport photos from AAA, so, the woman at the counter helped me staple my photo to the form and showed me the address which I need to write on my envelope. I also enclosed a check for $110. Nowhere on the form states the amount. I'm glad that I went in person for help in renewing my passport. I'm not leaving the country until next month, so I have time for a regular renewal. If I had to rush it, it would cost $60 more! Thanks for the great assistance with this process!

my wait time which was supposed to be "1hour30min" but ive been on hold for 3HOURS.
    Trevor T.

I am trying to set up an appointment and it is IMPOSSIBLE. I called this morning although the number was not working/busy, then I proceeded to email NPIC@state.gov and still nothing. I tried calling again and the automated voice said the wait was only about 1hr30min so i stayed BUT it has been 3 HOURS (which is so ridiculous) and it's just so frustrating, yet still nothing. Now the office hours has closed so there was no point on being in hold. Now I have to retry again another day which is very unfortunate because I was calling as I need to get a passport immediately due to my emergency travel but it is so difficult to set up an appointment.

    Call history

Selvena from call department (if that's how you spell her name) I told her my fly date will be on June 7th, and today is May 24, which is 14 days from my fly date. She was not willing to assist me because, according to her calendar, it's not the 14th day. I told her, and I know she's aware that the call was long, that my phone was ringing for 3 hours, unfortunately Selvena has no compassion and to be blunt she is that typical bîtch who works at job she doesn't give a fûck. She hung up the call on me, she clearly does not represent the core values of the company she works for, the passport agency in Ala Moana Honolulu.

They told me to go to USPS Passport Center to get my passport since I don't travel until 2 months from now.

I am taking a tour to New Zealand which requires a visa with current (6 months) photo. Can I get my photo taken at this HNL Passport Office? Can i process my visa application at the same time?

Air & Sea Travel seemed to always give me the best "bang for the buck". They manage to find the best hotels and restaurants one can find at a fair price. So far the Air & Sea Tour Leaders who accompany the group on the tour have been courteous, organized, and careful. They look out after everyone in the group and always give helpful "heads up" suggestions about the place we are visiting next... and sometimes suggest what items are good to buy and bring home. I've done some Air & Sea tour packages going to Japan and China. I just recently came back from the Silk Road Xinjiang Tour and had a blast. For this tour, we had IMO the best local guide, her name is Risa. She spoke passionately about Uyghur culture and was one of the few local guides that I did not notice anyone falling asleep to on the bus (at least from where I was sitting in the back of the bus). In contrast with other different tours... the local guide will speak in a monotone voice and give text-book like lectures on the bus. People will then start to tune out and fall asleep. The company tour leader would then have to interrupt and tell a joke to wake everyone up. Pleasantly... this was not the case with Risa and this Air & Sea Xinjiang tour. The group also found Risa fun to hang out with on this tour. The Air & Sea Tour leader for this particular Silk Road Xinjiang tour, Derrick K., was outstanding and organized. He kept everything together like super glue and made things go as smoothly as possible. Having great local guides and tour leaders are what help make any tour successful. Actually... all of the other Air & Sea Tour leaders on my previous trips (Ryan, Mike, Derick S.) were outstanding as well. What I like about Air & Sea overall is that their tour itineraries are carefully thought out. They don't try to cram too much stuff into one day like other companies do as that can be tiring. Air & Sea tours give one the experience to try foods that are not usually found in Honolulu. I've been on their Tibet, Kyushu, Hokkaido, Harbin, Niigata, and lately Xinjiang tours. All were great. These Air & Sea tours have been a culturally educational and fun experience for me.

Karen, Ken, and I were walking through Chinatown Cultural Plaza (in Honolulu) on our way to lunch when we saw this travel agency right across from the parking lot elevator. The knowledgeable man said that they would be able to assist and gave me information on what documents were needed. One week later (on St. Patrick's Day), after I got my passport photo, copy of my Drivers license and valid passport, I returned and presented these documents. There are two types of people: first type are ones that they preferred to do everything themself and the second group of people are ones preferring the booking by the good old style of travel agent style. The first style are who would just login into computer and look for the cheapest seats available on line, book the best available seats next to each other if possible and ASAP try very hard to reduce the connecting flight time, avoiding stay at airport until the next day. Type one people would have so much pressure put so much pressure on yourself since there are so many people are seeking the same destination and seats are together. It becomes much more difficult when booked with 2 international airlines together, the walking distance of an unknown gate to the connecting flight, try to make the long stop over short and avoid overnight stay in a hotel because you will pay for it. Alice has booked us in a section that seats were not together, reduce to the waiting time to minimum, no hotel needed and got us almost $1,000.00 cheaper. She checks the seating configuration daily, change our seating arrangement to a cheapest seats.....in a total of 3 weeks. This is how wonderful Alice Wang is by arrange out seats, no overnight stay between with cheapest tickets. I have already told her that she can work on our tickets yearly. SHE IS AWESOME PERIOD and spent 3 weeks to get all my request done while other travel agents would just tell me that this is the best I can do. It's so sad that almost all the travel agents are closed for good. Booking your own tickets is not as easy as you think. When there is no connecting flight or overnight stay and travel within the USA booking by yourself maybe OK, but international route maybe much easier on yourself. One thing most of us can't do is to put the seat(s) on hold to exchange for better and cheaper ones next day. Booking on line is more difficult on international route with more than Honolulu to Las Vegas. THANK YOU for all of your hard work to make our flight much easier. I am more than happy.

I got my Visa on Friday, thank goodness.
