With plenty of trees and water areas one could hike for hours. It is a good raft or canoe launch site as well. From what many of the locals tell me this place has a history of producing large strippers and black bass. When I went today many of the ponds were full of algae but fortunately the river ran clean. From what I gather if I had a canoe I probably would have landed some good size black bass. Unlike some of the other people fishing I did have a few bites on my line. Instead I get to the exit gate and find out they locked me inside. Called the police non emergency line to see how I can get out.. I had 3 of my dogs with me and it was already dark outside at this time. Police were helpful and got a hold of the employee working at the park. She came to the gate to open it but demanded $50 in cash before letting me out. I didn't have any cash so I offered it via Venmo or Debit and she refused and demanded cash. She let me out as a one time courtesy after pleading with her that I didn't have $50 on me. Are we really endangering people who visit a park to let their dogs play so you can extort them for money after locking them inside?

Not able to find d much online about this "community gym" other than it is partly managed by parks and recs (ie supplemented by my property taxes), and the lonely sign offering self defense classes. Seeing people in there and the door open, I popped my head in the first room to look for any more signage, to no avail, and saw older gentlemen playing basketball in the next, court room with the doors closed. I decided not to bother them, and went to leave. When already outside, and clearly about to leave, one of the old men came out hurriedly to say "you can't be here" in a very rude manor. I was so taken back that I didn't think to explain my simple curiosity, but said I was just looking. He said we paid, you cant come in.... I waited until staff came up, hoping they would be helpful and willing to inform (as I assume that is what they are paid to do), he instead was as belligerent and just mentioned that the people paid and I wasnt welcome. Excuse me, but it says community center. There are little signs, I am new and only know the place has a basketball court, does classes, and some old guys can claim it to themselves. Nice. Maybe telling me how to reserve the space? When I am allowed to be there. Just basic information? Or is this just my taxes paying to subsidize some old guys to play in the ac all alone for what I assume is some nominal fee to them? Who do they know? Taxation without representation?
