Only one guy Tommy who I booked with online since they make you put a card on file to book with them and have you pick your tech. I had heard good things with Tommy so I booked with him and put my card in file. I come to my pedicure appointment that was confirmed online with Tommy and I see him with another client doing a acrylic set with, designs, cool I sit down, totally waiting to wait for my nail tech to finish and start with me. Well the little Hispanic boy doing a pedi asks what I need, I reply I have an appointment with Tony well I got the name wrong and he got attitude with me. I was told to sit in a pedicure chair and wait. Cool totally fine. I here them speak I'm assuming Vietnamese about me and then this old lady from the back comes and starts my water for my pedicure cool I've always seen the old mama come and set up the pedicure chairs till the actual nail tech comes to do my service no worries I can show, but then this old lady starch, removing my nail polish and wanting to go on my feet. I pull away and ask why is she doing my pedicure when I have an appointment that I pre-booked with a credit card with Tommy they said well we don't do things here. No he just didn't wanna do a pedicure because he was busy making more money on the acrylic set with design which I was so cool to wait for him to do me or come back at a later time. No one communicated that no one wanted to talk to me or communicated. They just talked their mess in Vietnamese and thought I would go with the next nail tech. I immediately got up apologized to the lady and said OK I'm good then and got up all of a sudden everyone was shocked that I had the nerve to reject a service from someone I did not request or want a service or had the decency of them explaining their policy or how they did things or that I would be getting taken care of by the mama not Tommy.. we all know the old grandma mama nail tech is the worst one in the building and just is there to clean up and set the bowls. I want a good pedicure since I have trouble feet not someone slathering product and not massaging or getting my cuticles done correctly this is the problem with the Asian nail tech in this city. They bully and force people and don't talk or communicate. They just speak Vietnamese and speak bad about you and take your money. I will never go to this place and I will tell everyone I know and come across since I am a manager at a very popular coffee shop not to go to this racist establishment that profiled me because of how I looked and the service I bought I would rather spend my money at a black owned nail shop where people speak English and communicate and not try to have an attitude with you. I grew up with immigrant parents, so I know when people go into their mother tongue why they're doing it not professional at all seems like magazine nails got too big for their britches when the two girls ( Ni and I forgot the other name) that own it Magazine Nails used to be the D squad nail tech at Golden file. After moving to New Orleans I have been trying to find someone who does Russian manicures…read more I have had several appointments with nail techs who seem to believe if they file around the bottom of your finger enough times they're doing it right. They are not. It got so bad that I took my question to Reddit, which is how I ended up booking at this place, which sadly was no different. When I sat down (twenty minutes late) I was informed by the nail tech that she does Russian manicures, but doesn't cut with a scissor. Immediate red flag but I had already paid in full and needed the disaster set I walked in with removed. This person then proceeded to not follow any of the steps of a Russian manicure. No orangewood stick. No flame bit to lift the dead skin. A jagged cut around the cuticle with oil added to hide it. Abrasions where my live skin was filed with the ball bit. I was then informed that I would need to pay an additional $60 for the hard gel application. To be fair, it was applied nicely and the shaping was great. It just wasn't a Russian manicure. If it had been billed as a hard gel manicure and left at that it would have been fine. The gaslighting at the end - I was told I should book hard gel fills moving forward because I don't "need" a Russian manicure - was the icing atop a very shitty cake. If you don't know what you're looking for, this is the place for you. The vibe and aesthetic of the salon is nice. If you're looking for an actual Russian manicure, keep looking.

I was able to schedule an appointment the day before and I was immediately greeted upon entering. The technicians and manager were all so nice and friendly, taking a genuine interest in what I wanted and my plans for the weekend. They have so many nail polishes to choose from - you can find your polish either by looking at the basket in the waiting area or just beyond at the two walls they have. The waiting area is nice and clean, though I was able to be sat right away. Since I got a mani/pedi I was in the big massage chairs. They worked well, were very comfortable, and the water/jets were a nice warm temperature. I also saw them cleaning all the bowls before they opened which leads me to the highlight of my experience: I'm an epidemiologist and I noticed that these women take infection control very seriously. I saw them wiping every surface down as the store was opening, each step of my service was followed by a spritz of what I believe to be alcohol, and they would also spray their tools immediately after they finished a task so that it would be clean if they had to go back! While it stung at times, it was so greatly appreciated because that is a level of cleanliness that I have never seen before! My mani/pedi itself was incredible, I wanted a deep red regular polish but Lillian convinced me that gel would be better for my wedding this weekend. They didn't have the exact color so we found a similar color (based on the bottle) that didn't end up being the same when on the nail. Lillian noticed before I did and went to find a more appropriately matching color. I really appreciated that because it showed she cared about my intended look. Cam did my pedicure and it was the most thorough pedicure that I've ever had! She had incredible attention to detail and my toes look so adorable! I got the special pedicure which came with a massage, callus removal, and lotion/oil, all of which were lovely. I truly cannot say enough good things about this nail salon. Annie, the manager, told me that they're undergoing renovations to upscale the place and it already looks so amazing! Please if you are looking for a spot to relax, get an amazing manicure/pedicure, you have to come to Lilly's!
