The service is okay you rarely run out of drinks but the servers are hard to understand. What gets me is the food. Nothing is appetizing. The buffet makes people sick! Everything is old and cold. Food was below average even for a buffet. The restaurant had a strong bleach smell, which I assume meant they cleaned, but it was a bit strong. The food was soggy & barely warm. We had a party of 6, but only 5 ate. We were told we still had to pay for 6. Pass this one up. read more

Best Chinese I have had I'm in the Berea Richmond area. The lady was very friendly when I called in an order, very receptive. Order was ready to pick up a n less than 15 minutes. I ordered the fried dumplings, a pint of the house fried rice, and the pepper steak combo, and three egg rolls, everything was hot and delicious. Food was good. We did go late (830pm) so some of the food was not as good as I believe it would be if it was hot & fresh. We asked for more crab Rangoon and they made it fresh and it was very good. We will definitely go back (earlier this time) and give them a 2nd try. read more

Hands down, our go to Chinese restaurant. The staff are friendly and always ask about our kids. We've been going here religiously for over 10 years. We've stopped at several Chinese restaurants and get disappointed when their food turns out subpar to this place. They've set the bar high on flavor. Best crab Rangoon in Kentucky. Egg rolls are incredible. Pork fried rice. No explanation. Theirs is perfect. Indian chicken is our go to meat. You should definitely give it a chance. Indian at a Chinese place? Yes, yes, yes. My oldest kid loves their meatloaf and my youngest loves the chicken on a stick. We just love their food. read more

Took my dad and nieces here for a goodbye dinner. The service was pretty good. The food was hot and the buffet was stocked well. Some of my favorites were the buttered potatoes, fried rice with mushrooms on them, the cheese steak (yummmm) oh and the crab ragoon. It's your decent Chinese buffet fare. Nothing out of the ordinary. You do feel nasty after about two plates. As someone who grew up eating superb Asian food, it's not my favorite. If you REALLY need a Chinese food fix this will suffice but order to-go. The buffet is tired looking and the restaurant interior is worn and not that clean. The food they cook to order is better (hot and fresh anyway). They have all the standard Chinese fare. Nothing special but the only Chinese food in town. read more

Hands down the best Chinese food I've ever had. It is a buffet, so I wasn't expecting much at first. But not only is it super cheap for a buffet, the food is just as good as the dine in places I go to and the service is just amazing. My favorite is the teriyaki chicken here, which is just absolutely delicious. Every time there is a family gathering or some event, I always come here. Definitely recommend! read more

If I could have given them a negative rating, I would. I and my family have eaten here many time due to lack of variety in Berea. I have killed roaches on 2 separate occasions. Food is mediocre at their very best. It is so run down and tired looking. Why do we go their? My fault. I love chinese food. If you go, my advice would be to go on a Friday around 6 p.m. food will probably be at it's best. It's only about $10.00 per person. read more

Easter Sunday, and neither my daughter nor I had a desire to fight the crowds pouring into the traditional Easter Buffets serving ham and eggs, so we opted for something different. Tucked away in a strip mall a couple of blocks off of the main road leading to Berea College, the Hong Kong Buffet seemed to fit the bill beautifully. Pleasantly surprised that it showed open at 11:00 a.m., we made our way in. Although it was already 11:15, we were still the first ones there. The three buffet stations seemed relatively empty when we walked in, and fearing that we had come through an unlocked door and they were still closed, we asked the waitress if they were indeed open. Assured that they were, we were told it would be a few minutes before they were fully set up. We ordered, and quickly received, our sodas. The décor is sparse and typical Chinese buffet: Oriental decorations around with a couple of very large backlit scenes hung on the walls. We noted a couple of young children running around, obviously part of the family. They were well behaved, and waited patiently for their food (they too, hit the buffet) as we did. A few moments later, were told that the buffet was ready. Although one of the three sections was still in the process of being prepared, there was plenty to choose from in the remaining two stations. I started off with the hot and sour soup topped with some crispy noodles (as always), and piled on the usual assortment for my first plate: Shrimp and (imitation) Crab with cheese, Mussels, Lo Mein Noodles, Mushroom Chicken and Meatloaf. The Hot and Sour soup was very good, warm and earthy with plenty of vegetable and tofu pieces in the broth. The other items were all hot, fresh and well-seasoned. Nothing was too spicy, even the spicy things. A return trip with a second plate revealed that all of the wells were now full, with the addition of steamed and fried fish, fried and peel and eat shrimp, crab Rangoon, pepper steak, sweet and sour pork .....And the list goes on. There is a section for the kids (non-Chinese) that include chicken nuggets, fries, pizza; the usual American food one finds at these things. The rest I would describe as "typical Chinese Buffet fare", but the quality here was very high. Now keep in mind that the buffet had just opened, so we had the luxury of getting to it all just after it was presented. The real test of any buffet is a few hours later. How full is everything kept? How well maintained is the temperature? Hot food hot and cold food cold? New food dumped into old? A buffet can be a dark, scary place in the food world. Thirty minutes after opening, it seemed to be going OK in the food safety department. Nothing super fancy or exotic here on this visit (except for some frog legs, which were absolutely delicious), but good, quality fare. The buffet price was reasonable, and although the atmosphere was a little dark and sparse, I was not disappointed. I would put this as a place to go when in the mood for Chinese while in Berea country. read more

Duck Dynasty meets the food trough crowd in this quaint, dated Chinese buffet. Foodwise, it's basic Chinese buffet---limited, though tasty. A two buck charge for one tea bag in a pot of water seems excessive, but hey, if they pay, do it. Did anything stand out? The Hibachi Chicken and the Swimming in Water poached Salmon! Ambiance? Not really, unless looking at steamy windows and comparing woodland camo is your thing. But, if you've tumbled off I-75 and have a hankering for good hot soup and a limited selection, and are hungry, put on your camo hat and stomp in. The food is good here as long as you go at the right times. Meaning if you go while busy you will get good fresh food. but if you by chance go when its not busy the food is horrible. The staff is always nice. read more

Terrible. They do not even deserve a one star rating. One dish of hot food on the buffet was cold, not even room temperature. I ate nothing else after that, for fear of food poisoning. If one tray is not the correct temperature, there may be others at incorrect temperatures, also. This is a real threat of food poisoning. The fried food was excessively greasy, due to either old grease that had broken down, or grease not at the right temperature for frying. Notifying Health department about food temps on the buffet, and possibly old oil. read more

I always get the take out, my family and co workers love their food. I personally love the moo shu pork, Mongolian beef and steamed dumplings. I've lived in Berea a few years now and eat there at least once a month and the service is always pleasant and professional, the prices fair.
