Delish! I am usually not a fan of Chinese food... but for some reason I had a huge craving. Found a spot on the way home, with somewhat decent reviews. Called and placed a carry-out. #23 General Tso Chicken and #27 Sesame Chicken with a spring roll instead of egg roll with pork fried rice instead of regular fried rice. The man who took the order stated 15 minutes and my total was $19.99. Well I was there within 15 minutes, order was just brought to the front counter, & checked out. Fast service on picking up the carry-out. The portions were very large, all hot and fresh when we opened the containers. We had left overs for lunches today which were just as good re-heated. Great small & yummy spot! read more

Hong Kong Express - #23, General Tso Chicken, comes with Fried Rice, Eggroll and Fortune Cookie. - Chinese Near Me - Waterford, Michigan

This is the worst Chinese food we've had in years! We ordered Chicken sub gum, and Broccoli chicken with rice! Both entrees had ZERO flavor!!! Sooooo bland, not any taste! We used to get take out there for years but Wow! also the Broccoli was so hard as it was not cooked just mixed in with what little sauce there was! May be new owners? Management? What a waste of $40 !!!! read more

Hong Kong Express I really wanted his place to be good. I've lived in Saginaw for about 20 years of my life and we make some good Chinese food. I've had the best Chinese food. Bar none. I've been a dishwasher for a good Chinese restaurant, waiter, and a cook. I know my menu and how each dish should taste. Here we go. Another test. Can this place live up to the name? Let's go. Small place. Express only. Few chairs. The woman at the front desk was very nice. Good service. Service with a smile. I ordered Pepper Steak and Szechuan chicken. The two basic dishes. Pepper steak tasted correct. Spot on. Szechuan was clearly off. Did not taste correct. The sauce was more like sweet and sour. Clearly the wrong sauce. I really had high hopes. Another disappointed. You might enjoy, but to me, I'm still looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant. Not here. I see a lot of customers. It's sad they don't know what good Chinese food is. I also want to express that this place gives small portions of meat. "Dragon Palace" in Vassar gives huge portions of meat and everything. That's what sells. Cutting corners does not sell. My Szechuan dinner was basically all veg and hardly an meat. Yes, I can see the difference. Hit up "China 1" in hazel park, MI for excellent Real Chinese food. Also try "Dragon Palace" in Vassar, MI for great Real Chinese food. Enjoy. To each his own. Highly Recommended read more

Consistently great food; flavorful, plentiful, and delicious. They always wrap the food with care so it doesn't spill on the way home. Hot and fresh! read more

Waited almost an hour after the estimated time, which I'm okay with, but then they gave us the wrong order. We went back to try and sort it out and they INSISTED that they gave us the right thing. I showed them the app and they just didn't believe me. The food wasn't even good. Horrible customer service, horrible food. read more

Hong Kong Express - "Chicken chow mein" according to them... - Chinese Near Me - Waterford, Michigan

4 of us got dinner from here Christmas night, we all ended up with terrible food poisoning. Would never eat here again

This business had great service, flavorful and authentic food, and my orders are always ready in a timely fashion. This isn't ideal for a sit-down venue, as they only have a few tables, but it's perfect for takeout orders. This is my go-to Chinese restaurant in Waterford! read more

Had food delivered from there. It was disgusting! I had vegetable egg foo young and they gave me the sauce that they use for pad Thai so it had a peanut flavor. Disgusting! I paid extra for chicken fried rice, which was just boiled white rice, nothing fried about it, that I can tell and some some chopped onions were in it. I was scraping Chinese before I go on a detox and tell disappointing. This place has really gone downhill. Stay far far far away!! Literally takes the meaning "shoot on a plate to a whole new level"!! read more

Very good food. The egg rolls are so good. A friend recommended this place to me and I would recommend Hong Kong express to anyone looking for good Chinese food. read more

Sesame chicken was plentiful and very tasty. Cashew chicken was just as tasty and plentiful. Egg drop soup was very good. I really enjoyed the egg roll. The service was very quick and the staff taking our order was helpful. However, I was very disappointed with the crab Rangoon. Too many onions. There are a couple tables but we did carry out. Overall very good and we will return. read more

Stop by for a quick lunch. I have placed online order for the Hunan Chicken and Szechuan Beef. Food was pretty good, just a new favor profile for me. Good size proportion. Can't wait comeback. read more

Awful experience. The lady who took our order was aggressive and quite rude on the phone while we placed the order. She abruptly hung up without providing a total or a time frame. The crab Rangoons were just chopped onion in some sort cheese(?). The dishes we ordered were lack luster, mediocre and the best part was the vegetables in the rice. To top it off - they don't give fortune cookies with the meal. Take your money literally ANYWHERE else. read more

I like this place owner is very nice and if I ask for some extra sauce never a problem

Usually China jade is our spot to go to for Chinese in town but took a coworker's word on trying this place. It was awful. We ordered the orange chicken and lo mien dinners both with fried rice. Everything tasted old and not very fresh. Very disappointed with this meal and won't be back. read more

A great little carryout place for a quick bite. Tasty hot n sour soup and cashew chicken. They certainly don't skimp on the portion size! I'm a fan! I like how they have pictures up on the board for easy ordering. I've gotten carryout from them a few times and they are always pretty consistent. read more

Almond Boneless Chicken was inedible!!!! Burnt deep-fried everything! Will not go there again ...

This place is my comfort food when I'm visiting home. I remember skipping school to come here and eat egg rolls (that's what everyone does when they skip school, right? LOL). This is "Detroit-style" Chinese food, mind you, so if you grew up somewhere else it's going to be different from what you're used to. No one makes it the same as they do in Detroit. For example, the dish Almond Boneless Chicken (a/k/a ABC, a/k/a deep fried with gravy atop a little sprig of iceberg lettuce so you can pretend you're eating vegetables) is crave worthy and unmatched anywhere else. Cashew chicken, shrimp lo mein, egg drop soup ... big fluffy dinner rolls that are a Chinese culinary non sequitur, but just go with it. The name of the game here is carbs and fat. Everyone wins. Everything is just the best. I miss you so hard, HKE. read more

Worst Chinese food I've ever tried ! I ordered chicken and broccoli but usually it has a sauce, it looks nothing like there menu online! The chicken was literally barely cooked, it was nasty just when we opened it! The "low mei" looked nothing like what it usually looks like. Definitely won't be going back, they forgot my wonton soup and charged us $40 bucks for this piece of shit read more

The food is delicious and service is exceptional this is our new favorite spot definitely will be ordering from there again.

Actually really good, a lot of the Chinese "quick bite" places are meh around here, not this one. Sweet and sour chicken is insanely amazing and everything is piping hot every time. Egg rolls a little greasy but as fresh as it gets and fried rice is very flavorful. Excellent service as well read more

Very good food or take out!. Prior to Covid one could sit and dine there. Good pricing as well.

Hong Kong Express offers take out chinese to the hungry folks in Waterford. I typically order either the General Tso's Chicken when I'm lookin' for something a little spicy, Almond Boneless Chicken when I'm looking for something rich in gravy/fat, and (forgive me if my memory is going the wrong direction here) Cantonese Chow Mein with chicken - yum. The first two options come with combination platters for a reasonable price (under $7 last I ordered). The Cantonese Chow Mein is a pint/quart type thing and a side of crispy noodles comes with it to pour the wonderful chicken/celery/etc. on top. Very friendly counter help - and a quick turnaround on most evenings of about 10 minutes for your order. I highly recommend Hong Kong Express when you're jonesing for some chinese food in a hurry - maybe during halftime of a Michigan football game, for example. Go Blue! read more

This used to be my favorite Chinese food restaurant. Until this morning. It took them 45 minutes to make me the crappiest general tsos chicken. People would come and order carry out just like I did and then they would be gone with their food within 5 to 10 minutes. Except for mine. The batter was NOT cooked on the chicken and was sliding off. I even called them. I was hung up on. I will never go back to this place ever again, read more

I really like this place, big portions, fast, nice staff. Glad I found it after trying a bunch of Chinese places in Waterford!! Will be going back for sure read more

Personally I thought the food was lowkey gross. I love Chinese food, but the orange chicken I had was like raw and the fried rice had tofu in it and I don't really like tofu. Couldn't really eat the $16 meal I paid for. But the workers were friendly and nice so that was good. read more

You can tell they make their food with the right oils and ingredients because it is not too salty and loaded up with random sauce. They have a huge menu and vegetarian which i LOVE. Love this place, i was skeptical but way better than other places around. Way better than wonton palace on cooley. We probably order from here once a week. Love the sesame chicken and hot and sour soup. They know how to make soups here!! The sesame chicken i posted is half eaten already my boyfriend ate it right when i took it out. read more

Three different orders and they all were horrible. Szechaun was greasy, hardly any chicken. Orange Chicken was too sweet and the egg rolls were terrible. Very disappointed. Won't be returning read more

This is an update to my previously glowing review. Last night, my hubby and I were craving Chinese, and since this place was so good in the past, and they're near my office, I decided to swing by on my way home and grab us the goods. Today, I am still reeling from the incredible bout of food poisoning I got from the egg roll I ate. How do I know it was the egg roll? Because I was the only one who ate one, and my husband was fine. How do I know it was this place? Because I got sick about an hour after eating, and this was the only food I had eaten all day. It got so bad, my husband went out and picked pick me up some medicine, so I could have some relief from the vomiting and get some rest. It was awful. As I said, I'm still reeling from it. I've been able to have some water today, but I'm too afraid to eat anything of substance. My stomach is still angry and painful. read more

Worst Chinese food I've ever had. Egg roll had nothing but cabbage. The Chicken Fried rice was flavorless and contained very little chicken. The Kung-pao chicken was not spicy and very bland. I suppose it's perfect Chinese food for people that don't like Chinese food. I knew it was going to disappoint when I saw saltine crackers instead of rice noodles with the hot sour soup. Also, I've never seen water chestnuts in hot sour soup. Yuck! read more

awesome place to get chinese food. a pint of beef fried rice is enough for a full stomach and leftovers. always very good and always hot. the lady who usually works the front desk is very sweet, knowing my order whenever i come in. high recommendation! read more

I grew up in Waterford and now live in Texas. I'm here visiting and my sister brought me here on a whim. No bells and whistles just good food. Their pork fried rice is the best I've tasted since the old Joy Garden in Pontiac which was really hard to beat! I will now crave this place and come back time and time again every time I visit! Reasonably priced and just plain good stuff! read more

Recently moved to the area. I've tried three different Chinese spots looking for the best one. Ugh, I've had so much bad Chinese food during this experience that I wasn't expecting much. But to my surprise, this place was on point! I'm not a rice fan but I shrimp fried rice came with my meal and it was pretty damn good. I like to order a variety of things I like, so I got Sesame Chicken, it was different, when I opened the box I thought it was sweet and sour chicken because it didn't look like the norm. Im used to seeing a dark red sauce and the chicken being completely covered in it and the chicken being cut in squares. Instead the chicken was it in strips and the sauces was like squirted lightly over the chicken. But it was very good. I also order Shrimp Egg Foo Young, that was very good and Sweet and Sour Chicken and that was ok. The Egg Roll was good too. Overall, I've found my go to Chinese spot. A little further than I'd like to travel but the food is worth a 10 minute drive when I'm in the mood for Chinese. read more
