When I was younger I would only ever eat like three things, which drove my parents to despair. So once they found another type of food I liked (no matter how unhealthy it might have been) they made sure that once a week we'd get it! My Granny used to live in the Turf Lodge area of West Belfast, so whenever we would visit, we'd make the trip to Aldo's for our tea. The shop itself is pleasant, its tiled interior is always clean and the glass always perfect. The food is always fried to perfection and even though the pallet of baby Conor has grown significantly from the good old days, Aldo's fish is still the best.

What I like about this place is that they do the basics right - they cook their food with care and attention, give you well portioned meals and use good ingredients to make it worth your money. Well worth a try if your getting fed up of fish and chips or cant be bothered cooking for yourself!

I have never had something delivered and called for a refund immediately after putting it on my plate but tonight I did. The price has gone up but portions are smaller. The chicken looked like rubber. Onions were raw and there were no mushrooms (you used to get onion mushroom peas). It looked like they dragged the bottom of the chip pan with the hard dry ends. Not a full properly cooked chip in sight. I wouldn't put it down to my dog. So my favourite Chinese in Finaghy is officially stroked off my list and I advise other Finaghy folk to avoid

One of only a few in Ireland ER's is already proving to be a big hit on the Lisburn Road. Yesterday when I paid a visit it was absolutely jam packed. But the pin striped, attentive staff managed to deal with the hoards of burger lover admirably. The whole restaurant follows the USA diner theme, red tiles, bold brash posters with American slogans and red leather booths. Right down to even the tiniest details this place is perfect - they have mini duke boxes (50's style) where you can pay 20p for your choice of song. Right on to the important bit, the food. The menu is full of tempting delights but I went for the Smokestack burger upon a recommendation. I have to say I was not disappointed! The Burger bun was soft and fluffy, the burger was meaty and the extras combination were sublime. The best part of the burger was definitely the 'secret' sauce - sort of like a vinegary mayo. I'm underselling it with that description. Burgers will set you back £6.45 but they are not small and you certainly won't be hungry after eating them. I loved Eddie Rocket's - the only tiny thing I would mention is that it took a while for us to get our food which made us rush eating it. I will put this down to how busy it was. The place certainly isn't understaffed. Top marks from me - there's so much on the menu to sample that I will have to make a trip back soon!

When you enter Eddies you can see that it is just like stepping into a real American diner and a great touch is that there is a juke box at every table. The food is great also. This is at heart a burger joint and they do it well. I had a smokestake burger and it was delicious. Applewood cheese, onion rings and secret sauce allll gooooood!!! The staff here were incredibly accommodating for my family, as we have an allergy kid in the ranks, who is anaphylactic to eggs and nuts, and has a few other "minor" allergies. They allowed my sister to order food for her son, and wait for my son and I before putting hers, my brothers and my mums order in with the kitchen so we could all eat together as I was running late. They couldn't have done enough for us, and Noelle kept checking that our little man was the only one among us with an allergy. The meal deals provided offer great value and look like set meals on a set menu that you would actually order from. Instead of those special combinations that always leave you with one item that you can't pawn off to anyone sharing the meal with you. Secondly (which arguably could be seen as an part of point 1) is portion size. Anytime I have ordered here, I always have more than enough to enjoy. To put this in context, let's just say I'm a man who enjoys his food. That may have made me sound fat. I'm not... Well not really... Probably does me no favours that I chose portion size as my second point. Anyway, some might say that one portion is enough for two people. Not me though. Great! Now I sound greedy!
