Matcha
Nhi R.

In a city filled with coffee, boy was I happy to stumble upon Honeybrains to get my matcha fix. Oat milk was an option for an additional charge and added honey as well. Grabbed a quick matcha to go and to enjoy over at Washington Square Park.

The staffs were friendly. I only ordered a drink, a large lemonade kick; like it's name it has a kick with a spicy taste. Would like to come back and try their food menu. Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5

I wish they'd bring this NY chain to LA! The salad was everything I wanted and more. The perfect serving size and mix of greens/toppings. I'm always a bit hesitant when I see that the salad is premade and sitting in a cooler but after trying the salad, it's freshness was nothing to fear. Would get this for lunch at least once a week if I lived nearby. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick and nutritious meal that's also delicious!

My friend raves about this place so I decided to visit. The fast casual is very spacious, bright and has ample seating. It had two places for ordering and picking up orders. I ordered my food a head but I still had to wait a few minutes to get my order. The staff was very friendly and sweet. This one customer was dominated the space without allowing other people to get their order. The server saw me waiting and smiled and said I hope I have a great day. I ordered the chicken and rice. It had good amount of protein and rice but, I thought it had a bit too much spinach. The honey pesto was interesting and I wish I had thought to ask for two sauces because it was tasty. The bowl was big enough for two small meals. I wouldn't recommend saving for later as it didn't re-heat very well. I think it is a good option for people who are looking for a healthy lunch.

Catch of the day bowl with chickpea sub

I'm torn, I liked what I ordered but the added sauce/dressing really carried the dish. This was the Daily Catch bowl, with a chickpea substitute instead of the default sweet potato. The components of the bowl were nicely prepared and plated nicely. But the dish overall was missing a refining touch. I ended up switching the original sauce I chose for the honey sriracha and I thought it complimented the bowl better.

I thought nothing would ever contend for a place in my heart with the Sweetgreen harvest bowl. People had said before that Honeybrains was a Sweetgreen competitor, and I balked at the notion that anything would even come close. It wasn't until a girl that was exactly my type said she preferred it to Sweetgreen where I decided to give it a real chance. Women truly do run the world. I broke down and tried a chicken + rice bowl subbing Kale for Spinach and Chickpeas for sweet potatoes, obviously. It was fantastic but I still preferred Sweetgreen, or so I thought until yesterday. 5pm on a beautiful Monday I found myself sandwiched between Lafayette and Bowery on Great Jones St, which is quite literally equidistant from Sweetgreen and Honeybrains. 2 people in my internal dialogue started running rampant: "Well Sweetgreen is a bit more of a salad so I think I'm" -- "Yeah but Honeybrains has way more protein and we just had a great workou" -- "True but the sweetgreen dressing is bette" -- "I mean I feel you but those sweet potatoes at honeybrains are objectively fresher and" -- "I'll give you that but we get that piece of bread at Sweetgreen..." This went on for a few minutes with me taking a few steps towards Sweetgreen, then pivoting back towards Honeybrains. I really had to say okay I'm insane I'm just going to go to Honeybrains because I've been to Sweetgreen more. But yeah, keep an eye on this absolute dogfight for the superior healthy fast-casual meal.

The Cobb Salad
Danielle B.

Ok, the name of this place kind of threw me off when I was first looking for somewhere to eat, but I read up on the story of how the name came to be and how the food is based entirely on neuroscience. Very cool concept, indeed! While visiting NYC, we did a lot of walking, exploring different parts of the city and of course, looking for good places to eat. I was immediately interested when I started reading the menu here, and even more excited when I saw how good the food looked. I had the Cobb Salad and it was absolutely delicious. I loved the turkey bacon and the egg was perfectly cooked. All the ingredients in the salad were fresh, and it was such a great find in a city filled with pizza, hot dogs and pretzels. I also had a side of the honey and butter, which was really disappointing because the bread was quite dry like it had been sitting out uncovered for a period of time. For almost $8, I expected fresh bread. The butter was really nice, but couldn't save the bread. Perhaps if it had been toasted it would have been better, or probably would've been good earlier in the day. Oh well. I definitely recommend this spot for a nice healthy and delicious meal.

Excellent service and really good coffee! I ordered the iced coffee. If you're someone who enjoys coffee, honey and are thinking of trying adaption mushrooms in your coffee, or you already enjoy them, this is a really great place to order them in the city. I love the sunny positive vibe of this cafe. All the employees are so friendly and happy to help. They also have a good menu for food too. I'd give them even more stars if I could!

Avocado crunch toast with egg

Enjoyed this little place for a quick bite for breakfast. I ordered the Avocado Crunch toast with an egg and thought it was perfect. The staff helped answer my questions. I liked the complimentary lemon infused water pitcher that was available. The overall space was clean. No complaints!

Chicken Paillard
Ellen L.

I like the setting of this location. They have booths, tables, and bar seating options, making it a great place to do individual work or meet up with friends. I ate lunch and read here for a bit, and it never got too loud. Food: I got the chicken paillard which was under their brain bowl section on the menu. I honestly was expecting it to look more like a salad with more greens, but regardless, it was still yummy. The chicken was juicy, and underneath the bed of arugula and cabbage there was mashed potatoes which were also delicious. The mashed potatoes had hemp seed and basil which gave it a unique flavor. It also came with a dressing on the side which tasted like some kind of ginger dressing, and that paired really well with the chicken, veggies, and potatoes. Drink: I got the London fog tea which was decent. Nothing too outstanding here outside of a regular London fog tea, but I enjoyed it! Will definitely come back again since it's a quick place to grab a healthy bite to eat or have a casual spot to eat.

Tuna sandwich had thin layer of tuna could be called a smear. It's not cheap and for the price they should fill the sandwich.

Weird name. I'll read the reason they came up with it? Very crowded. Super healthy food. And surprisingly pretty darn good flavors.

His local rooftop honey is the perfect remedy to seasonal allergies and he has rooftop beehives all over the city! 1 spoonful of local honey at breakfast is more effective than any allergy medication I have tried - and tastier too! It is so nice to now have an Andrew's Honey shop on the Upper West Side. The woman at the cash register today was very professional and warm and answered customers questions while I took photos. There was no pressure to purchase but of course I was there to stock up for my parents and friends suffering from seasonal allergies right now. I love seeing all the other goodies too- flavored honey sticks, nuts in honey etc., I even have Andrew's book- it is so wonderful to read about urban beekeeping and to follow along his adventures on social media. Fun fact: before I tried Andrew's honey at Union Square Farmer's Market 6-7 years ago I really thought I did not like honey at all- turns out I just don't like ultraprocessed honey. Andrew's honey is delicious and each neighborhood and batch will have a slightly different flavor. If you're lucky enough to run into Andrew, he explains the reason for the variation in flavor and color across seasons and locations! Note: Andrew's Honey no longer offers samples (since Covid) and kindly note, there are no returns once you leave the store. There is a slight cash discount on most items Enjoy!
