She had cavities at a very young age and had to be placed under anesthesia to fill and he made sure he explained the process and we had it at the hospital because he was concerned with the size of her tonsils. Long story short his concern led to her pediatrician (who had to clear her for surgery) sending her to an ear nose and throat specialist. We had her tonsils and adenoids removed and we would have never known the issue existed if it hadn't been for Dr Hicks. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The new office is absolutely gorgeous -

It's by far the most beautiful dentist office I've seen, with a lobby that looks like a Vegas hotel lobby. There's a movie room to keep your children occupied while waiting, or adults waiting for their kids. He does such a great job, when my daughter had 8 cavities (yes, 8, oops), he took care of it swiftly and she had no issues. In the new office, they have a gold coin to give to them where they can pick from several candy ball-like machines as a prize. My daughter literally asked when the next time she can get a cleaning because she wanted another gold coin. Brilliant! Highly recommend!

The dental office is beautiful but there is a fine line between being treated as a consumer instead…read moreof a patient. They offer private rooms at an additional $100 (optional) but only in the mornings and if you agree to a private room once- the office categorizes you as a patient who can graduate from that room but only based on the discretion of the people who are getting paid by such private room⁉They will refuse to schedule an appt with a regular room moving forward. You are stuck paying for the private room and front desk can't do anything about it. This feels unethical and not in the best interest of your patients. Every other dental office will offer you a private room due to hipaa and osha ( this is a clear violation) and not charge additional. The only difference is there is a door here and not a partition. At this office they make it so the chairs sit SO close together like in a dental college ( a dental bay is a clear osha violation) - that naturally the parent will request that private room bc all it takes is one crying child to scare the others. Either way, you do have to agree to it so it's not a secret either but again feels off and completely on purpose! This area is like the, "nicest," in the neighborhood I guess and the other offices around are pretty old, making it so that these type of businesses provide care in a different way, more like you're a number and not a person. The slide and toys are nice but not what most important here. It's too bad bc Dr.Diaz was very kind and the hygienists were lovely as well. Ultimately, I thought maybe I was not the target audience until the office manager called me back to smooth things over and never acknowledged the issue. She went out of her way to tell me why the have private rooms while still not addressing that the issue is they lock you into a room you have to pay $100 additional for and therefore cant even book a regular appt without their permission, the dr didn't bother to call me and Elaina even admitted there were no notes from Dr saying my son had to stay in private room. She kept saying you could graduate (wth?) I'm paying for this!! Delusional. This state is ranked the worst in health care, there is a reason.

Our six year old child is Autistic but still capable of having routine doctors appointments…read moreperformed by a typical doctor. The key to helping her through her appointments is informed consent, and giving her time to process the presented information and feel her feelings, which is typical for many autistic people. This accommodation typically takes 10 minutes, and has been respected by many of her other doctors. When we took her to Dentistry For Children to have her spacer, which is causing significant pain, removed, the dentist instructed us to lie to our child about needing a shot for the numbing agent, and to instead surprise her. Our child has gotten shots before and, as we firmly believe that children are people who deserve to be told the truth of what will happen to their bodies, we attempted to explain the process to her. The dentist continued to interrupt and speak over us, trying to convince our child that she would not be receiving a shot, while explaining that they prefer to use "more child friendly terms" like "sleepy juice" and they would "hide" the needle so our child wouldn't be aware that she was getting a shot. Personally, I prefer to know if I will be stuck with a needle, and I know my child does as well. Furthermore, our child is 6, not 2, and is difficult to surprise without a dramatic response. After explaining that we would not lie to our child, the dentist left and we were asked to come back that Friday, when the dentist would have more time to talk it over & explain to our child what was happening. We spent the next day or two explaining the procedure to our child as it had been explained to us. On the day of the appointment, despite having been told we would have more time, we were rushed, introduced to a tool that none of us had been aware of which panicked our child, and when I tried to ask the dentist what the tool was, I was asked to leave the room. It seems clear to me that I was my child's loudest advocate and the dentist was looking to remove opposition, but 3 minutes later they urgently requested my return as my child was now even more upset, before cancelling the procedure entirely. We were recommended to reach out to the DDD, an autistic-friendly facility, but they were unable to accept new patients for 7 months, which is not plausible given the amount of pain the spacer is causing her. When we contacted Dentistry For Children again to request another attempt, we were told the dentist would not see her period. I feel entirely gutted, disrespected, & uncomfortable that this dentist office lies to children about medical procedures, refuses to see disabled patients, and ignores a parent's expertise about their own child. If you can, find your child a different doctor.

Everything was thoroughly explained which put me at ease as well as my 2 year old that had only had one previous experience with a dentist that was very traumatic. I am excited to switch over my other children to this practice to continue their oral care. They are out of network for insurances but will submit on your behalf. You wind up paying a little extra but honestly it is not that much of a difference, but of course check with your insurance to be sure.

I took 4 of my kids here after being severely overdue for some work (didn't like other offices I took them to in the area), and this place did not disappoint! The treatments were scheduled so that it didn't hurt my time or my pockets! This went on for about 3 months until completed for all 4 of my girls. A few weeks later, I received a call and was told that my ins plan paid more than anticipated, and I was offered a REFUND for the overage. WHAT? Um, yes - please - thank you! Now, me. I had to make an emergency appt for myself as a first time patient same day on 7/5 - YES, they were open the day after the 4th (while I was off). They saw me that day, gave me a list of the work I needed, told me the amounts, brought me back in 2 days later, and did my extractions within an hour's worth of an appt from start to finish! The staff was very attentive, I was even given control of the Pandora station to be more comfortable - so we listened to gospel my entire visit, lol! Most impressive? I did not feel the shots that I was given to numb the areas to be worked on. THAT is a win for me! I like THIS dentist, and I like him as a person as well. The entire staff was great, and they didn't make me tear up when they told me the costs of the work to be done. I highly recommend, and I will definitely be back!
