I very recently was asked for some more variety in the food instead of just sandwiches they usually get, so I took a good look around. This is my breakdown of Honey! I'm Home! catering services for the lunch that they helped serve us. Customer Service: 5/5 There was no updated and fancy menu to look at online, so it was hard to digest however Beth made sure to make everything go down smooth. She worked with the cooks to help make a menu that was the right budget for us. Through the whole process of haggling and talking about what kind of menu to make, she was absolute delight to deal with. The delivery person was Lyle, and he was also an incredibly friendly person. I highly appreciate these kinds of workers. Punctuality: 5/5 Beth got back to us as soon as possible, making sure that everything could go without a hitch. She is a great planner, and Lyle was a fantastic driver, getting here right on the 11:30 dot. Food quality: 6/5 It is one thing when the dishes each shine on their own, it is another thing entirely when they complement each other. Their cooks know what they are doing, not overpowering any one flavor and allowing for more discerning flavor palettes to enjoy extra layers of flavor on each dish while keeping a great mouthfeel and aftertaste. Stupendous. The only complaint we had was how the portions were smaller, but that is what you pay for quality. Honey! I'm Home! I was fortunate enough to be a guest at a bat mitzvah catered by Honey! I'm Home! As I guest and not the booker/payer, I can only comment on the food. Oh. My Gosh. What a culinary delight! We were treated to the most tender lemon chicken, creamiest herb-baked risotto, succulent marinated veggies, and al dente vegetarian raviolis. I was lucky (and hungry!) enough to make it back for a second plate of everything. Our party was unique in the sense that we had a relaxing family dinner before the kids all arrived for their activities and fun. The kids were also treated to appetizers of a beautifully arranged veggie plate and cheese plate, smoked Gouda mac n cheese bites, and veggie pot stickers. Of course I sampled all this despite my already expanding belt line. Everything put out was simply fabulous. The other key driver to this five-star experience: H-I-H comes prepared with to-go boxes. Nothing goes to waste in this operation. Either the guests/booker take the food home or it gets sent to a shelter. Waste not, want not. Thus, don't waste your time looking at other caterers because Honey I'm Home is the one that will have your guests wanting more. read more

I would have loved to have worked with Honey I'm Home Catering after reading their five star reviews however, Beth, wasn't interested in doing business. Beth, the owner, told me twice that she would send me a menu proposal (the second time was because she failed to get it to me the first time). She missed both deadlines and she's never returned my call. I called HIHC on 3/5/15 seeking their help for my daughters graduation party in June with a guest list of 50 people. I'm not sure why they were not interested in doing business. My guess is, a party of 50 is not worth their time. Nonetheless, Beth wasted my time when I should have been finding another caterer to work with during this busy season. Common curiosity would have been letting me know. We have seen Honey I'm Home for years around Ballard. My wife met Beth through her work, and was quite impressed with her personally. When it came time to choose a caterer for our giant (to us - 100+) costume party, we decided to put HIH in the mix. Beth was terrific to work with, helping us think through party layout and flow, and iterating with us to find the right mix of food, rentals, and service to fit our needs and budget. Everything ran exactly to plan - her staff was there when she said, ready to rock - and were a real highlight, cheerfully and energetically helping us set up and finalize decorations. They brought their own costumes, and were everything you hope for for staff for a party like this - discretely making sure everything is taken care of, graciously interacting with guests when needed. The food was great - we had exactly enough. It was perfect, and here again HIH worked with us to let us bring the simple stuff to keep budget down while they brought the super delicious fancy stuff. It was great, the food was all so good and the mix of everything: the different appetizers, and choices of main course, worked really well for us for our budget. Every other caterer we got an estimate from had very limited choices and the food, if they even had a menu suggestion, just didn't sound good. I really liked that they had sample meals online, too. Their menus are prepared using fresh, local and organic ingredients and their recipes are wonderfully inventive, delicious and broadly appealing. I'd give Honey I'm Home 4 1/2 stars, if possible! I sought out a caterer to help me throw a fun birthday party, and enjoy the evening myself. HIH rose to the top of my list through Google searches and Yelp. My initial estimate of buffet-style catering for a party of 20 - 30 people was a bit unrealistic. However, HIH co-owner and business manager Beth worked with me to refine several menu proposals until we reached a final menu that I accepted. I opted to take care of a few nibbles and salads myself to reduce expenses, but kept the hot dishes that HIH offered. I also decided that I DEFINITELY wanted to hire a server to take care of delivery, heating, and food presentation during the event. Cynthia arrived about an hour before the party to deliver food and set up. She did such a terrific job assessing the party space and suggesting the best layout for food, table service, beverages, etc. that I just abandoned by own initial ideas and let her direct! I gave some guidance for food timing, but she was very proactive in anticipating my needs and filling in the gaps, in absence of my attention. She was so adept at wrangling placement, heating and presenting the dishes, and even asking guests for empty plates and loading the dishwasher before leaving. I allowed her to stay later than originally planned, because I could clearly see how much nicer the event was with her presence. Cynthia is worth her weight in gold! As for the food itself, co-owner Karelle is the chef responsible the culinary delights of HIH. I have only great things to say about all the dishes. My guests and I enjoyed mushroom duxelle in phyllo cups (oven-fresh nibbles), herb-baked creamy risotto, roasted seasonal vegetables with garlic aioli, salmon filets with the best salsa verde-ever(!), and easy-to-handle pulled-pork sliders. My 25 guests enjoyed a great menu, and echoed many compliments for days afterward! I strongly recommend Honey I'm Home for event catering. The only caveat I would offer is that you need to be firm about trimming upwardly-revised estimates, if holding to a tight budget is important. But if you value paying for delicious food skillfully served, while you glide amongst friends laughing and enjoying your own party, Honey I'm Home is worth every penny! read more

We had a great experience with Beth and her crew. Several guests independently remarked that it was the best reception food they had ever had. We were extremely well taken care of by her crew, who anticipated our needs during the event, which meant that we could fully focus on friends and family rather than the details of the service. I used to go to the old Honey, I'm home store front in ballard -- many years ago. I have used them a few times for corporate events and they have done everything within their power to get me exactly what I wanted. It's hard to cater to really large groups and still be yummy (that is a general comment) but Karelle and Beth want to make people happy with comfort food. read more

Iv'e worked with Honey I'm Home for years, and recently chose them for catering the Shorecrest High School Booster Club's Fall Fundraiser, "A Night at the Savoy" which was a jazz infused casino and auction night to raise money for the club. BEST WEDDING EVER. HIHC not only catered our wedding, but Beth basically was our wedding planner as well. Our ceremony was at a park and then guests met us at the Sunset Hill Community Center in Ballard, which meant we had to organize everything ourselves. Which is what Beth did. Beth organized the food, drink, staff, and cleanup. She met us in advance at the site and helped us figure out the layout of tables and seating, the buffet and bar, and the timing/flow of the whole evening. She suggested awesome gluten-free and vegetarian options (all fantastic) we needed, worked with our budget, and all of the food was OUTSTANDING. I know everyone tells everyone that they had the best wedding ever, but I honestly believe our friends and family, and they always specifically mention the food too. The buffet looked stunning. Her staff managed the bar and everything else professionally and with unassuming ease. The next morning, she also catered our day-after-brunch at our house, brought everything over on-time and hot, it was amazing and so delicious. We wanted to keep our wedding simple but fun and with our favorite foods, and Beth was the perfect person to understand and deliver that. I can't even tell you how STRESS-FREE the entire process and event was, she is full of solutions and help, and always positive and reassuring! I had SO MUCH FUN at my own wedding. My mom just gave us a gift certificate to HIHC for our anniversary because we are both busy, and now we are re-enjoying Beth's food and service and remembering our wedding!! This is our new GO TO Caterer! Honey! I'm Home! has done a few events for us and now we've decided this is our GO TO Caterer! First off, she can plan and create a menu like nobody's business. She has a lot of great ideas and is so helpful when trying to stay within your budget. She and her staff are top notch. They were here ON TIME and made sure everything was in perfect order for our noon lunch event. From beginning to end, it was outstanding. Everyone in our law office absolutely loved the food!! She came ahead of time to stake out the venue and get the lay of the land. She even took pictures of the kitchen. I have catering experience, and this group of caterers is bar none, the best. I can't say enough good things about their service. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM.So many compliments even as I write this review, on how great the food was. I organized a fund raising event on Novenber 5th of this year and used Honey I'm Home. With several choices I am so glad we choose this caterer. From the first phone call to the actual event, Beth was so helpful and gracious. Her staff were fun, hardworking, and a joy to be around. The food was excellent, the food choices were local and tastey and Beth made several suggestions to suit our palet preference. The lovely presentation and tasty food made it all worth while. I chose these guys because the reviews looked good, etc --- but they sucked. The owners, Beth and Karelle were nice to work with and the sample of food Karelle gave us was good so we felt great going in. Unfortunately, the food we had catered by them was below average. When you are paying premium prices, they better ALL be good! No excuses. Whatever you do, DON'T GET THE CRABCAKES! They charge $4.50 a pop and were the worst!!!! They were undercooked! On top of that, the bartender and server they sent hardly smiled!!! Elaine was our bartender and Jessica was our server. If you can believe it, Jessica was texting during the party!!!! It was unbelievable. Also, I hired them so the server would occasionally pass out apps to the guests but she never did!!! Beth told me over the phone afterwards that she "forgot to let them know." Are you freaking kidding me? We made it VERY CLEAR that's how we wanted it. Was I expected to babysit them so they would do their job?! I'm trying to socialize with all the guests!!! $30/h per person for the staff?! I strongly recommend you to take your business elsewhere. Some others charge only $20/h for the staff and I'm sure they are much more professional --- you may get lucky and they may do a reasonable job for you, but why would you risk it when you are throwing a party for a very special occasion are shelling out thousands of dollars for their food and services? Yeah, mine was for a wedding/housewarming party --- so this sucks big time. I thought Beth would be more apologetic on the phone but she wasn't at all and I got the "that doesn't sound like them" garbage. Well -- excuse me ---- uh, I was there, I heard comments from friends, the food sucked, and I had to pay premium prices for all of it. Beth could have helped alleviate at least part of the awful aftertaste in my mouth by being more sincere, but she chose not to. She didn't deliver what she promised and we still had to pay full price and 18% gratuity. Know any other business you can get away with that crap? read more
