If you're looking for a no-frills apple orchard, Honey Hill hits the mark. When we went (early October 2022), there were still lots of big apples waiting to be picked. A short tractor ride gets you to where the apples await. We paid $10 per 1/4 peck bag. Each person entering the orchard needs a bag. You'll be able to fit 7-8 apples in each bag, depending on the size you're choosing. There's a small hay bale maze for kids (most kids just stand atop the bales and jump the gaps). There's also a goat you can pet. There are some food options - we saw one BBQ food truck. The donuts were A+. Although there are porta-potties, there are two permanent bathroom structures, though it didn't seem like they were cleaned frequently. The sink had permanent rust stains. While other orchards have more rides or attractions, if you want to scratch the apple-picking itch without enduring heavy crowds or a football field-sized parking lot, Honey Hill is a pleasant experience.

Overall: We can't wait to go back to Honey Hill in the future to pick more delicious apples! The good: TONS of apples/trees, which is great considering how many people go to orchards these days. There was plenty of parking and the COVID precautions were in full swing, which was comforting. Even at the beginning of October, they still had 4 varieties of apples to choose from, compared to only 1-2 with their competitors. The orchard is large so that there's plenty of space, and pumpkins to choose from as well if that floats your boat. The shop has plenty to choose from and of course there's a bakery with warm goodies. To top it off, there is a (apparently rotating) food truck if you need some fuel prior to picking. Amazing chicken fingers! The not-so-good: The prices are higher than we would've liked. Not only from the apple-picking perspective, but also in terms of the store goods and food available to eat at the orchard.

We came here this last weekend. My daughter found this place which thank God for GPS because there was no straight routes. A lot of maneuvering through country roads etc. Very cool place for families. This is basically an Apple Picking excursion so make sure you have some apple baking skills or just really enjoy apples. They had an amazing little bakery there as well. We got a caramel nut apple pie which was to die for!! I had my first legitimate apple cider donut which was fantastic! Their barn store had an excellent array of homemade jams, apple & pumpkin butter, honey, etc. they had tons of different apple cookbooks and gifts. They had a taco truck which was great. I guess each weekend they have something else to choose from probably a local vendor? There was a little petting zoo and a hay maze. Very nice little Fall fest. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes.

Best Apple Cider donuts! The apple cider and pies are also amazing. My daughters loved feeding the animals! Such a great place for families.

Very fresh pressed unpasteurized apple cider, caramel walnut apple pie, and apple cider donut.

Love this place. Small, friendly, not commercialized like the bigger orchards. Their fresh unpasteurized apple cider is the best. And can't leave here without some apple pie and apple cider donuts!

Get to this place early because parking was at a premium on a weekend! Apparently no one minds driving out to Waterman to get their fill of cider, donuts, pie and other goodies (& that includes me). There's the "feeding trough" where you can nosh on goodies like cider (hot or cold), fresh donuts, cider slushies, cider floats, and pie a la mode. Then hit the bakery for take-homeables like pies (pretty pricey but darn tasty, though the Dutch Apple i bought had collapsed by the time I got it home) & more donuts. Indoors in the barn is more shopping: apple products and other local goods like jam, popcorn, and candy. You can pick apples yourself, or just buy in bags from the barn shop. No entrance fee at this place, unlike some of the other orchards around here, so if you're just planning to stop in for a slice of pie and do a bit of shopping, that's a draw. Definitely a fun stop for fall!

My wife and I have been going to Honey Hill for 8 years now for our annual apple picking tradition. This was our sons second year and and we will continue to go there for apple picking. Staff is great, apple cider doughnuts are delicious and the all around experience is amazing each and every year. We drive over an hour to go there and it is worth the drive if you like family owned businesses.

Today was a first. First for me visiting this cute venue and first time visiting an apple orchard. They have pick your own or you can buy already picked varieties. Had an apple cinnamon donut and coffee and then wow, needed to purchase a dozen donuts to go!!! So good. Cute little shops, bakery, and place inside for coffee, cider, hot chocolate and more. Oh, and of course I purchased a Carmel Apple with nuts!!! Forgot to take the picture before devouring the yummy goodness. Maybe the best Carmel Apple I've ever had. They have a little petting zoo, hay bales to climb on for the kiddos too. For finding this on a whim, unplanned- we sure enjoyed the impromptu visit.

Best apple cider donuts and the apple cider is so good. We make the 1.5 hour drive from Chicago just for these.

Honey Hill's apple pie is the best I ever had (right up there with my Mom's)! Also the cider is delicious! But that pie is outstanding!

No interest in U-Pick, thank you, though they do this throughout the season (check their instagram for info on when they are allowing U-Pick). It was a fine place but I'm not sure if I would make the trip again. It was an hour drive and we got our strawberries, walked around a bit, and left; all told we were there for maybe 20 minutes or so and I don't think it was worth the drive. I'll probably pick up from a farmer's market instead, unless I'm nearby. They have more than just the produce here, as there's a little gift shop area on the one side of the building that has gift items, children's toys and clothes, and more. They also have a counter where you can order food, and a nice outdoor area to eat at. I will say that what I REALLY appreciated was that it wasn't a farm carnival, as some of them are now with rides and lines and parking that's blocks away. This is a more straightforward farm stand, which is what I wanted.

My recent experience is an example of this, I have been a long time customer since Mr. Norris owned the business; I was planning on continuing to use the services of the new owners/Not Just Grass as usual for all my landscape needs. Last April 2024, after working out details in March, I had old shrubs removed from the front of our house and new and different types planted. However, the work supervisor (Tyler) did not come with the work crew to lay out the planting plan, he had given them a work diagram, so unfortunately some of the shrubs were planted too deep, spacing was wrong on one side, and no soil amendments added, etc. I had asked for dirt and mulch to be added, but no mulch was added around the new plantings (I had to do a couple of bags myself around each plant later to help keep the soil moist after watering). They also left deep ruts in the yard/grass with equipment while removing the old, large yews. I contacted Tyler about the ruts and he did have them come back to fix that, however a year later now and the area is still sunken and no grass in spots (I will have to do a proper repair myself again). Tyler did not come back to supervise that original rut repair work. Flash forward to Spring 2025 in March, I contacted Tyler again because 1 of the shrubs had died last Fall (it was planted too deep) and another also looked dead at the time (before leaves started coming out), I let him know this and asked about replacement plants since they were under the 2 year plant warranty that Mr. Norris always provided and currently, Not Just Grass still honors. I never got a response, it was basically crickets. I sent text, e-mail, I called and left a message. I called the office and spoke to Kris who relayed my concern/messages on, but still no communication/follow-up from Not Just Grass/Tyler. Finally, I had run out of patience and had enough of the poor quality of service and called the owner, Greg V. (spoke to Kris again because he was out) and I also sent an email to the plant nursery. I explained to Kris and in my email(s) the lack of communication on their part and that I just wanted a replacement plant for the dead one (that I expected the same variety, a certain size to match the ones that did survive, and for it to be healthy), and that I would come to the nursery to pick it up myself. I also explained that I would be taking my business elsewhere from now on because of the poor service and quality of work. The owner did respond once in an email trying to tell me that Tyler had reached out on May 9, 2025 (nope, I never received a text, phone call or email from him and give me a break - May 9th 2025, when I had been trying to communicate with him since March 2025!!). The owner offered to have them come plant the replacement plant or I could pick it up as I had told them that was my plan. I replied that I hadn't heard from Tyler and that I would come pick it up and what I expected the quality to be, etc. When I went to pick up the plant, I was basically given the cold shoulder by Tyler (landscape supervisor) and Mackenzie (the plant nursery manager), I did see them, but they ignored Kris when she asked Mackenzie if she wanted to talk to me, Kris was told they were busy as they whizzed past us. Tyler indicated to us that the plant was down at the end of the nursery building. Kris, their Admin. who is basically in the office the majority of the time taking care of phone calls and orders, was actually the person who helped me find the plant (it did have my name on it) and load it into my car for me. The soil in the container was very dry, but that also made it easier to lift, and helped us out. I watered it well when I got home. So, there's my recent experience with this company (Not Just Grass) still using the Spring Bluff Nursery name, but not providing the quality of service, plant knowledge, and dependability that the former owners provided to their old and new customers. Also, their prices have gone up! It's just sad and no way to treat loyal customers! I have found another landscape company, thankfully, who have already planted the replacement shrub, added soil amendments, fixed the other planting that was struggling, and nicely mulched the area the way it should have been done last year.
