It's hard not to want to gatekeep this wonderful orchard! I have been on the hunt for an apple picking farm that doesn't feel super crowded and filled with attractions. I absolutely loved the simplicity of this orchard and it's probably my new favorite one that I will likely be returning back to every year from now on. The workers were super friendly too. I went in late September and we shared a 1 peck bag to fill with apples. They take you on a ride around the apple orchard and drop you off at the different apple trees. There were so many trees to pick from and plenty of apples. There's a giant sunflower field right at the entrance that's beautiful too. They also had pumpkin picking, which I wish we did because their pumpkin patch looked great. They had a friendly horse, a couple goats and chickens to pet/feed. They had the best apple cider donuts I've ever had! They tasted so fresh and soft. And their cold apple cider was delicious and refreshing too. I also purchased some of their honey from their own bees. read more

Incredible apple cider doughnuts, lovely staff. And I think the most walkable apple orchard in Illinois you gotta check it out for your self

Sorry folks, I can't give them too high a review. They were nice. Everybody's friendly, location out in the cornfields is interesting. We normally go to All Seasons in Woodstock and decided to change it up this year. So we went West instead of North. Was it worth it?... No way. More expensive than than All Seasons. Cannot believe how expensive. A small bag of apples was 35 bucks, OUCH. They had some animals that were there, cute horse and goat. We bought some donuts. I believe they were like $15 for a dozen and they weren't even hot out of the fryer. We bought some apple juice because we love apple juice. Get home to find out it's unpasteurized and there's this whole list of things that could go wrong with it. It lasted a little over a week, mold already started to grow on the inside of the plastic jug. I'll stick to store-bought. Bought an apple pie, it was good. I've had better for less $. Anyway, like I said, nice people but unless you live out there, I don't recommend driving from the city of Chicago. Long drive little reward. read more

Great apple cider donuts! Nice selection of apples to purchase.( Already picked) Pies, caramel apples, cider and many fall items to purchase. All good. Will be back read more

I took the lazy route and bought apples already picked. The early honey crisp apples were delicious! The apples were sweet and so juicy. The grounds are very clean and inviting. There is a really cute gift shop. I highly recommend going here. Plus it is great to support local orchards and farms. read more

Best apple cider donuts and the apple cider is so good. We make the 1.5 hour drive from Chicago just for these.

Such a fun apple picking orchard, and a family friendly play area. There is a good variety of apple types. We went on a Saturday and took a tractor wagon rode to the picking location. It is a much better deal to purchase a full peck bag rather than a quarter peck. The apple cider donuts are a must. There was a food truck on-site that was really good. There is a nice area of tables and grass for a picnic. Will definitely come back for apple picking again. There are some goats, chickens and a donkey that my kids loved seeing. There is a hay maze and slide for younger kids, they had a blast playing! read more

If you're looking for a no-frills apple orchard, Honey Hill hits the mark. When we went (early October 2022), there were still lots of big apples waiting to be picked. A short tractor ride gets you to where the apples await. We paid $10 per 1/4 peck bag. Each person entering the orchard needs a bag. You'll be able to fit 7-8 apples in each bag, depending on the size you're choosing. There's a small hay bale maze for kids (most kids just stand atop the bales and jump the gaps). There's also a goat you can pet. There are some food options - we saw one BBQ food truck. The donuts were A+. Although there are porta-potties, there are two permanent bathroom structures, though it didn't seem like they were cleaned frequently. The sink had permanent rust stains. While other orchards have more rides or attractions, if you want to scratch the apple-picking itch without enduring heavy crowds or a football field-sized parking lot, Honey Hill is a pleasant experience. read more

Been going there for years always a very nice place and apples! They remain reasonable compared to other places!

Overall: We can't wait to go back to Honey Hill in the future to pick more delicious apples! The good: TONS of apples/trees, which is great considering how many people go to orchards these days. There was plenty of parking and the COVID precautions were in full swing, which was comforting. Even at the beginning of October, they still had 4 varieties of apples to choose from, compared to only 1-2 with their competitors. The orchard is large so that there's plenty of space, and pumpkins to choose from as well if that floats your boat. The shop has plenty to choose from and of course there's a bakery with warm goodies. To top it off, there is a (apparently rotating) food truck if you need some fuel prior to picking. Amazing chicken fingers! The not-so-good: The prices are higher than we would've liked. Not only from the apple-picking perspective, but also in terms of the store goods and food available to eat at the orchard. read more

Get to this place early because parking was at a premium on a weekend! Apparently no one minds driving out to Waterman to get their fill of cider, donuts, pie and other goodies (& that includes me). There's the "feeding trough" where you can nosh on goodies like cider (hot or cold), fresh donuts, cider slushies, cider floats, and pie a la mode. Then hit the bakery for take-homeables like pies (pretty pricey but darn tasty, though the Dutch Apple i bought had collapsed by the time I got it home) & more donuts. Indoors in the barn is more shopping: apple products and other local goods like jam, popcorn, and candy. You can pick apples yourself, or just buy in bags from the barn shop. No entrance fee at this place, unlike some of the other orchards around here, so if you're just planning to stop in for a slice of pie and do a bit of shopping, that's a draw. Definitely a fun stop for fall! read more

We came here this last weekend. My daughter found this place which thank God for GPS because there was no straight routes. A lot of maneuvering through country roads etc. Very cool place for families. This is basically an Apple Picking excursion so make sure you have some apple baking skills or just really enjoy apples. They had an amazing little bakery there as well. We got a caramel nut apple pie which was to die for!! I had my first legitimate apple cider donut which was fantastic! Their barn store had an excellent array of homemade jams, apple & pumpkin butter, honey, etc. they had tons of different apple cookbooks and gifts. They had a taco truck which was great. I guess each weekend they have something else to choose from probably a local vendor? There was a little petting zoo and a hay maze. Very nice little Fall fest. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes. read more

Love this place. Small, friendly, not commercialized like the bigger orchards. Their fresh unpasteurized apple cider is the best. And can't leave here without some apple pie and apple cider donuts! read more

The best apple cider donuts I've ever had. The best apple cider I've ever had... folks are friendly. They have apple picking, hay rides, pumpkin picking. They have a few barns filled with foods to bring home and try, like their own honey produced on the farm, pies, popcorn, jellies/jams, and the list goes on. Also, did I mention they have the best cider donuts... they are literally cooking them fresh as you walk up! They sell thwm frozen as well, and the frozen ones don't miss a beat either. You won't regret a trip here! A must go to every season! read more

My wife and I have been going to Honey Hill for 8 years now for our annual apple picking tradition. This was our sons second year and and we will continue to go there for apple picking. Staff is great, apple cider doughnuts are delicious and the all around experience is amazing each and every year. Today was a first. First for me visiting this cute venue and first time visiting an apple orchard. They have pick your own or you can buy already picked varieties. Had an apple cinnamon donut and coffee and then wow, needed to purchase a dozen donuts to go!!! So good. Cute little shops, bakery, and place inside for coffee, cider, hot chocolate and more. Oh, and of course I purchased a Carmel Apple with nuts!!! Forgot to take the picture before devouring the yummy goodness. Maybe the best Carmel Apple I've ever had. They have a little petting zoo, hay bales to climb on for the kiddos too. For finding this on a whim, unplanned- we sure enjoyed the impromptu visit. read more

We picked raspberries and they are so delicious! Highly recommended this activity. Such Fun!

The best donuts anywhere! We always come for the cider donuts and apple slushies. It is a must every fall.

Best apple-picking experience we've had. Six varieties were available the day we went, and the staff actually encourage tasting the apples as you go. We initially bought 1/4 peck bags but quickly went back and purchased a full peck after starting to pick--they were that good. Frequent tractor rides to the different parts of the orchard ensured that you could pick any variety you want, though the golden delicious ran out toward the end of the afternoon. The staff members were very friendly, the grounds were well maintained, and the pie, cider, and donuts were unbelievably tasty (if you want to avoid things like high fructose corn syrup, however, ask the bakery cashier for the list of ingredients in baked goods). There are limited children's activities in addition to apple picking, but since we were there for the apples, that didn't concern us. We look forward to coming back next year! read more

We visited the farm the first week of regular season and did the pick your own raspberries. The raspberry bushes were pretty sparse due to a bad year but we had tons of fun searching for the good ones. To do the pick your own apples you have to take a tractor ride to the orchards so we opted out of that one. I loved browsing their store and bought Christmas presents of homemade jams and other goodies. Be sure to stop in the bakery because they have the best apple cider donuts I've ever had! They also have homemade pies that looked amazing but i couldn't go too crazy. We also bought a small jug of apple cider and as soon as we tried it, we regretted not buying the gallon. We will definitely be back as the apples continue to come in season. read more

Perfect place for a family outing! Even when it's crowded this place is pretty manageable as it's a large property with plenty to do. From apple picking, to feeding the farm animals, climbing on the hay bales, indoor shopping, or just chowing down on warm apple cider donuts, there's plenty to see and do. The apple tree fields are absolutely massive and offer a huge variety of apples, my favorite being the Cortland! Give one a bite for me! read more

First time here and it was awesome! We couldn't pick from the apples, but we sure bought a bag of them. We enjoyed their delicious donuts. And took lots of pictures. The only trees that gas apples were the ones in the front entrance. Next weekend will be their official last day of operation so I guess they were all picked out. This is mainly an attraction for kids. They had a pumping patch and a petting zoo. Their store had Amish hand made products and honey. read more

A local favorite. And the best cider donuts I've ever had. A wide variety of self-pick apples makes a fine afternoon!

Honey Hill's apple pie is the best I ever had (right up there with my Mom's)! Also the cider is delicious! But that pie is outstanding!

A wonderful adventure. Got great apples, cider and pumpkins. The fresh donuts were to die for! Can't wait until next year!

Went with a group of girlfriends and a couple babies and it was great! From apple picking, pumpkin patches and animals, definitely a great option, especially since you don't have to pay to get in. Even though it's not "as busy" as many other patches, there's definitely a possibility that it gets quite busy! One of my friends had to wait for someone to leave for a parking spot. You can wait to get a tractor ride to the U-pick, but honestly it's very walkable. No strollers are allowed at U-pick, so plan accordingly if you have a little one. There's even a raspberry patch, which I didn't expect. Also, as others have noted, make sure you get cider donuts!! Our group agreed it was the best donuts we have ever had. read more

Amazing fall family fun. Was camping at Shabbona Lake and did a quick trip to the orchard for apple picking, fresh donuts and cider, a pumpkin, squash and way to many other goodies to mention. We were a group of three adults, but they had so much to offer a family with little ones too including a petting zoo. I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about this farm. My family loved it! The staff was exceptional, they are above and beyond when it comes to customer service and communication. We will be making this a new fall tradition! Thank you Honey Hill!!! read more

Such a nice laid back experience. Not a bounce house in site! Staff all very friendly, apples were easily picked by those of any height and choosing a pumpkin in the field was fun. Only issue was lack of masks by customers in the indoor market space. Can't to to return for raspberry season. Drive through NIU (class of '84) on the way home. read more

Products are of good quality but they have prices that are way too high on everything! Local who cannot get into the place on the weekends because it's too crowded. Also, they allow patrons to park on both sides of Waterman Road which is not only dangerous for patrons exiting and entering their vehicles but also to traffic going down the road. The combines don't dare use Waterman Rd as it's impassable due to patrons parking on the sides of the road. Get it together,HH. Expand your parking and manage the demand. read more

It's a little bit of a drive if you're coming from the Chicagoland area, but definitely worth. The farm has both apple picking and raspberry picking (probably the best raspberries I've ever had). We went on a weekend that had pumpkin specials, so along with their fresh baked apple cider donuts they also had pumpkin donuts. They have a cute little shop filled with fresh honey, jam, homemade fudge, and other little trinkets. There is a little shop inside for snacks and a variety of apple cider drinks. Keep in mind while many spots within the Orchard take credit cards, this little food spot takes only cash and checks. That's the one piece I wish I had known going into it, I was hoping to try their apple cider slushy which everyone seemed to have in their hand. Overall, fun day trip I'd recommend for any age! read more

We enjoyed our visit to Honey Hill Orchard immensely. Unfortunately the apple picking was winding down for the year, so we didn't get to do that. However, my daughter enjoyed seeing the animals and the corn maze. It was refreshing to see activities available for the kids without needing to pay extra for it. We also liked the option to buy a cup of cider and an individual donut, rather than a huge package. This place is really great about giving a non-commercial feel and we will definitely be coming back next year as well. Well done, Honey Hill Orchard! read more

Have I ever told you how much I love Yelp? It's because of Yelp we found this awesome orchard out near DeKalb. It's a little off the beaten path, but 100x better than some of the orchards closer to the city of Chicago. The people working here are as nice as can be, and the cider donuts are worth the hour drive from Naperville. First, they don't charge admission and they don't nickel and dime you for every little thing like other orchards do. You take a hayride out to the growing area, and there are several varieties to choose from. The Saturday we went, we were able to pick Fuji and Cortland varieties. A 1/2 peck (about 5 lbs) was $13, and I think they said a full peck was like $22. For my kids and I, a half peck was plenty. There's also a store and bakery onsite. The store sells homemade cider, candy, and other snacks. The bakery sells the most amazing apple cider donuts I have ever tasted. I'm not a bug fan of donuts, but after trying these I'd eat them every day. They're homemade on site, and are like $9/dozen. On the drive back my kids and I ate 2 each, and finished our other 6 the next morning. These donuts should be in a donut hall of fame they are so delicious. They're nothing like Dunkin Donuts, and that's a huge compliment. The people working here were super-friendly and loved to talk. My kids and I really enjoyed this experience, I would highly recommend them. read more
