I wish I knew about Wiltse's Farm sooner! A beautiful well kept farm with a ton of local produce. It is so nice to see all of the fresh veggies and fruit. Everything I bought was tasty. I also got two big beautiful bunches of wild flowers and some pumpkins. I think the prices are reasonable. Friendly staff. I love to support local. Check them out! read more

I've been going to Wiltse's for years for summer produce. Always fresh, always affordable, with a great variety of goods. Sadly no longer. Everything is bagged in large quantities with no options to buy by the pound or individual items. Since I live alone that's too much food to go to waste. Also, everyone used to be so friendly - what happened? Will be looking for a new farmers market instead of driving the 12 miles for this. read more

This has been our go to for Pumpkins for the last four years!! They have an AWESOME variety of sizes, colors and shapes and almost every pumpkin is perfect in one way or another! Depending on the weather, they offer the ability to head out into the patch to pick your own, or they have 100's already picked and in most cases clean, ready to take home. In addition to the pumpkins, they have lots of different gourds for holiday decoration including decorative Indian Corn and corn stalks. So my wife & I are super excited about Wiltse's Farm Produce in Maple Park. Perhaps too excited, you might be saying, but then again you should probably make some time before the season is over to get some of the best produce in the world! Sure, it's only been open for 50 years ~ But new for us, we have been longing for the homegrown taste since having left the Old Country ~ Today we made the trip to check them out and our only regret is not having done it sooner! They've got the best tomatoes, onions, corn, squash, green peppers, honey, cantaloupe, watermelon, ( all fresh and homegrown, among other things) We walked away with a fridge's worth of fresh goods that, actually leads to us spending less money at restaurants this next couple of week and buying from stores that we are always disappointed with, and it will keep us from going completely broke buying things that end up in the bin. And another plus we had a home cooked meal that reminded of my youth in the old county , We are hooked for life! Thanks Wiltse's your simply the best! read more

Great family owns this place. Super friendly and kind. Asparagus is the best. Corn is the best but gotta until later in the summer for corn. I can't wait I'm counting the days because it's so good it's scary. Awesome veggies plants too. I purchased all my plants from here this year. They also have gorgeous flowers. I purchased my mom some for mothers day. Some hanging flowers with these cascading leaves that has grown so gorgeously I want to go back and get some for my house as well. Nearly every time we are out to visit our horses, we stop at Wiltse's to stock up on fruits and vegetables. Much of the produce is grown right there and the rest is local. Today was onions, leeks, tomatoes and peppers. Corn is over for the season, but the place is stocked with pumpkins, squash and gourds. So, if you are out of your gourd, this is the place to visit!!! read more

The BEST asparagus I have ever tasted! It was sweet and crisp. I will never buy any other asparagus! The flowers and plants we picked up were gorgeous too! People were extra friendly and willing to help out! I can't wait till later in the season to buy more produce!! read more

I stopped by this farm on my way out to visit family. Service was friendly and the place was well organized, with a wide selection of produce. I was able to get about 12 ears of corn for decent price as well. This was the first farm I have visited on my own, outside of visiting farmers markets, and it was interesting to see, and support a local farm. I will definitely be back in future. read more

This is a gem of a place. It is a family run farm which offers a variety of fresh produce from their own and other local fields. However, the thing that I most appreciated about them was their pick-your-own option for the flowers which they grow. I was doing the flowers for a local (Chicago) bride who wanted eco-friendly, locally grown. When I called, Kate was super nice and made arrangements with me to go out to the field. When later, I had to reschedule, Kate connected me with her sister, Peggy. Peggy walked us out to the field, shared some water with us so we didn't melt and was generally super helpful. The prices were fantastic and I couldn't have asked for a nicer experience. Yay Wiltse! read more

What can I say about wiltse's? Fan-freakin-tastic. The sweet corn is always amazing and the candy apple red onions. I slice them in half, brush with oil and grill for a few minutes... then devour about 100 of them. Sure, I get a little gassy, but it's worth it, and I blame it on the dog. read more

The produce is good and they probably have the best sweet corn I have ever had. The nursery is a bit overpriced. The main reason for the low rating is that I ordered black dirt, which I asked for and he reassured me on the phone is was, and it was everything but black dirt. I mean everything. about 80% was clay and it was full of shotgun wads. Dont waste time or money getting landscaping material from them. read more

I tried to use this farm to purchase pumpkins for my wedding. I called the winter before so the farmer could plant additional white pumpkins and discussed the exact number I needed. I was assured that he had handled wedding pumpkins before and there wouldn't be a problem. When it came time to pick-up the pumpkins the farm owner could not commit to a plan. He couldn't give me a date to pick them up, a set price, and could not set aside a quantity for me. Instead, he told me to stop by his farm stand and pick them out. I drove over an hour to go to the stand and was severely disappointed. There were not nearly enough pumpkins for my needs and the workers could not guarantee me there would be more. Additionally, almost all of the pumpkins were beat up or damaged. When I explained my frustration the staff was completely unsympathetic and made it seem like there was no solution. Needless to say I found the pumpkins somewhere else and will never use them again. There are a lot of great farm stands in the area, but this isn't one of them. read more

Best corn on the cob all season long. I would put this corn on any day up against any farm stands best day. It's that good. They must plant 60 days in a row and then pick 60 days so it's perfect every day. It's one of my favorite places in the summer. Used to live in Geneva and now I am about 50 miles away and I still make the trip frequently. read more

Not sure why anyone would make a trip out to this place for the produce in their "farmstand", which is really a cash business evading the IRS(no receipts). You can get the same stuff at Captuo's for less. The cucumbers are inferior to the grocery store. Seeds are big which ruins the flavor of fresh cucumbers. Prices are not cheap especially when you consider they have no middle man nor transportation cost or grocery store overhead expense(or income tax). When we did the the u-pick the woman farmer gouged us on a partially filled bag we used for a couple of melons and a few peppers. She had to put her "thumb on the scale" to squeeze out a couple of extra bucks which was really disgusting. The little friendly farmstand is about nothing more than making a buck. If you go, do only the u-pick and make sure you fill your bag. read more

Very, very sorry to write this review. For probably about twenty years, I've stopped at Wiltse's Farm for vegetables. The original owner was one of the nicest, friendliest people you could ever meet, the vegetables were fresh and great quality, and the prices were fair. Now, I still can't fault the produce or the prices, but the friendly, nice atmosphere is gone. Last year, I was overcharged several times, and wasn't given a receipt by a young man who worked there. The last time it happened, I was polite and did straighten things out. That employee was no longer there as of 2017 season. So, this year, back to shopping as normal, I thought. But for some reason, I'm being given the cold shoulder, not welcomed as I come in the door as other customers are, never given a receipt, and when I check out, there's some issue when they try to run my charge card. Other customers get held up, I get held up, and one time when it happened, someone behind me said that I should have paid my credit card bill on time! Talk about embarrassing! Yesterday,I was left to carry a massive pumpkin to my car without help, when there were many employees standing around. It seems that the problem is all on the part of a woman who now appears to in charge. Too bad good things can't stay that way! read more
