Our absolute favorite stop on road trips along Pearblossom Highway -- Charlie Brown Farms is one of…read morethose places you don't expect and end up loving every single time. First of all... it's truly in the middle of nowhere, which somehow makes it even better. You pull up not knowing what to expect, and then suddenly it's everything. They have all the road trip essentials and then some -- homemade fudge, jams, salsa, fresh honey, and an impressive selection of jerky (alligator, elk, ostrich... you name it). There's also endless candy, nostalgic sodas, funnel cake, and Dole soft serve in just about every flavor you could want. But what really stands out is the selection of nostalgic toys, collector's items, and rare finds -- it's honestly mind-blowing. You can spend a lot of time just browsing and still not see everything. I always leave with more than I planned (in the best way), and it's become a must-stop every time we're passing through. And the date shake? Easily one of the best I've ever had. Inside, there's a café if you're in the mood for BBQ, plus a whole section of vintage toys and random collector finds that you didn't know you needed until you see them. It's the kind of place where you always leave with more than you planned -- in the best way. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful, which just adds to the charm. This place never disappoints -- it's become a must-stop every time we're passing through.

The next following years were hard due to the frost, she said they lost about 90% of their crops, but this year has been better due to a some new techniques. This place rocks compared to another cherry farm we visited before, the prices are cheaper, they round down to the nearest quarter and the cherries are better quality. At was at this farm that we got the bulk of our cherry harvest! Most of the trees are sweet, I know because I sampled so many of them XD! Haha I forget that you aren't supposed to eat the cherries like a cherry buffet, but pick them to put in your bucket to take home. This is hard to do when you are surrounded by glowing, red gems of deliciousness just shouting EAT ME!!! Ahhhhh okie dokies NOM NOM NOM NOM. =D I like the Utah Giants the best, they had good texture and were the perfect ripeness. The Tietons were extremely large in size but the texture was more like a plum, not as dense in the flesh. I was sad that the Ranier's weren't to perfect ripeness, but the few I sampled were already sweet enough. If anyone's going this weekend or the next you are in for a treat! I was partial to Ranier's but now coming to an awesome cherry ranch, I determined that I am a opportunistic cherry picker and will go for any type as long as it's yum. I bought a jar of their very own wildflower honey for $8, it's really fresh and has a nice aftertaste. Do take a sample if you are here, they can't call it organic since the bees fly around in a 2 mile radius and most other farms aren't organic. Very friendly environment, the owner and family are willing to show you were the best cherries are and explain how to tell the difference between all the varieties! Bring a hat because it gets hot. I also brought some water and a paper towel to wipe of the cherries, (i'm not bohemian enough to just eat them) they are covered in a thin layer of dust and maybe bird poop. =p

So on Sunday morning at 6:10 am we left our house and got there at 7 am to pick some peaches. The sun had just risen and the orchard looked heavenly thru the peach trees. My husband and I picked a lot of peaches and some plums. I'll be making plum jam this week. But the peaches we enjoy eating as a snack, I also baked a peach galette. So delicious. The peaches are juicy and sweet. It was worth our time and money. We picked over 60 pounds. I have some to family and friends and the rest we are enjoying it daily. I even made a whipped ricotta and peach toast. Delicious. I'm hoping I will have time to go back again one more time this season. Customer service was great, a very nice and friendly family orchard .... Go support them if you are nearby. And you will love the peaches.

Definitely want to come back with the kids.

I haven't been back here since COVID occurred, but I'm so happy to have come back here to…read moreexperience cherry picking again! I came here with family on a weekend, and due to the large crop bloom, there was a BOGO deal going on this year where if you buy 1 bucket, you get another bucket free! It 's always extremely hot whenever we come here as it would be usually in the summer months. I suggest being prepared because you walk up a small incline in between rows of cherry trees, so being hydrated is necessary. Parking and entrance is free, instructions are given by staff and they lead you to where to go to begin picking. General rules include no eating the cherries inside, no yanking cherries off of branches (leaving stems behind help them grow again), and for the BOGO deal, you must fill up an entire bucket. Now, it can be pricey because it's currently at $6.50 a lb (.50 cents increase compared to pre-covid) and I think a bucket can contain at LEAST 10-12 lbs. So you need to shell out at least $65 in order to do the BOGO deal for example. A staff actually said that a bucket might cost about $85 each when I asked. We didn't do the deal because that would be too much for our small family, so I think this is optimal for large groups! We ended up paying $48 for our bucket and we went our ways. Good for a quick hour. Too long and you may overheat from the heat! - bring own water, bottles sold onsite are $2 each - local honey is also sold - 2 lbs minimum for adult to purchase - overall fun and unique experience! - always double check dates and times, sometimes they close at 1/2pm!

It's best to go on a weekday or around open on the weekend (7:00am) to avoid crowds. It gets hot during the day, so going early also helps to avoid the heat. The cherry trees do provide some shade though. Parking is free and easy to find. There is no entrance fee, but there is a $10 minimum per person. Cherries are priced at $6.50 per pound. You pay for the cherries at the end after you're done picking. The farm also sells honey that can be purchased when you pay for the cherries. The staff are kind and helpful. Upon arrival, we were given buckets for picking the cherries and given an explanation on where to go and what cherries are currently ripe for picking. Most of the cherries ready to pick at the time were Brooks and Rainiers. There were a few Bing cherry trees to pick from as well. The crop this year is top tier in quantity and quality due to the good weather. While we were picking cherries, there are staff members who walk around with hooks to help people access cherries that are out of reach. Shoutout to Ramon who helped us reach the ripest cherries on many Brooks and Rainier trees! We chatted with him about all things cherry and he told us about wrinkled cherries. These cherries are some of the sweetest ones due to the sun exposure and partial dehydration which result in a more concentrated flavor. We appreciate his insights and enjoyed his company while cherry picking. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at Villa del Sol and give it 5/5 across all categories. Highly recommend to anyone who has not visited a cherry farm, picked cherries, or looking for a fun date idea. The cherries are so sweet and much better than the store-bought ones. We will definitely be back!
