I needed a battery replaced and found Adkins. I was very happy with the service, he replaced the…read morebattery and did a diagnostic scan. It was quick, same day and very convenient for me.

I put in a diagnostic request for my mother in law's 2009 Kia Rondo. She doesn't have much money,…read moreso I was hoping to try and save her some money. I had to have a tow truck it to her address due to it not wanting to start in Park, I found out though that the shifter was very stiff as well and would only move when I used the bypass button. I couldn't get it to start but the tow truck driver showed me that it would start in neutral using the bypass switch and shift into gear but when in park it would still move. So, we didn't want to risk driving it to her house and so we had it towed. The tow truck driver said any mechanic should be able to fix that for you with no problem. So, I called Adkins that evening, and he diagnosed it the next day. He said, he tore the whole console apart, even tested the neutral safety switch but it was seized and couldn't be moved out of neutral. He told me it starts but will not shift. I was told the rod was welded internally within the transmission. I thanked him for his time and effort and he was paid by my mother in law. We'll, then myself and a friend came over and found the shifter was indeed froze in neutral, but after we re-tore the console back apart, and diagnosing it ourself we got it to shift. Took it to a transmission shop, who said this is not a transmission problem at all. We were told to take it to a mechanic and that it's either in the shifter itself or the cable, but definitely nothing to do with the transmission. The mechanic from Adkins confirmed over and over that he's torn many of these apart and he knows his stuff when it comes to vehicles. The question is, then why did he not diagnose the issue correctly and refer me to a transmission shop who then sent me back to a mechanic. I got the shifter out of neutral but he couldn't. He said he tested the neutral safety switch but it didn't look like it had been touched. I'm just saying, I will never trust this company to touch another vehicle of mine. Didn't seem to know as much as he claimed. Did not give a correct diagnosis and still took my mother in laws money. You decide what's right or if you would trust this mechanic.

He then notified me they have loaners to use while repairs are being done. I had a a difficult time to come pick up the loaner due to kid's schedules. I had an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with this shop. To put it bluntly,…read morethey operate like con artists. I have a car warranty that is supposed to cover everything, yet somehow, I still ended up with a bill exceeding $800--above and beyond my deductible. Why? Because they overcharge for repairs, and when my warranty company refused to cover their inflated costs, I was left footing the bill. But that's not even the worst part. My truck's power steering went out, which wasn't covered by the warranty so I asked them for a quote. They told me the repair would cost over $2,000. That number seemed ridiculously high, so I decided to get a second opinion. I took my truck to a far more reputable repair shop in Canton, and guess what? The actual cost to fix the problem was only $238. That's right--what they claimed was a $2,000 repair was done elsewhere for less than 10% of their quote. This place is nothing short of a scam. They prey on unsuspecting customers, inflating prices and hoping people won't question their estimates. If you value honesty, fair pricing, and reputable service, stay far away from this dealership. I wouldn't trust them to fix a bicycle, let alone a vehicle.
