Hubby & I came here as we had an appointment for a consultation with the tattoo artist Bahador. We decided to get matching tattoos, a celtic love knot. I had sent them the image ahead of time with another image for an idea of shading. We talked to Bahador & made an appointment for the actual tattoo session for both of us. The day of the session we waited a bit as Bahador was with another client & finishing up. We showed him the images again & decided on the size & placement of the tattoo on each of us. Hubby went first & I waited on the couch nearby. It took about 1.5 hours for his session. Then I was next. Hubby had his tattoo placed on his forearm & I had mine placed on my left shoulder. Bahador was professional & nice. I kind of wondered if he was bored because our design was really simple. But we picked him because we really liked his other work that we saw on instagram. I think if I get another tattoo that is more elaborate I would like him to do it. He's very talented. The receptionist Talin (spelling) was really nice also. Her personality is friendly & bubbly. She offered us a drink while we waited. I opted for a simple bottle of water. There is a single washroom on the main floor for customers. There is also a lower level where some other artists work but we didn't go there so I'm not sure what it looks like. The main floor though is very brightly lit. The floors are white tiles. And the walls are white also. The tattoo chairs are black with silver hardware. Everything is very clean. Anyway, we were very satisfied with our matching tattoos. Hon Tattoo is now doing piercings! My friend and I came in to inquire about them and was able to get piercings on the spot. The piercer that was available at the time was Serena. Serena was so amazing! She explained all we needed to know about getting piercings, even though we've already gotten them done before elsewhere. She sterilized the area very thoroughly and walked us through the process and every step she was going to take. She also explained how getting 2 piercings at once will mean the 2nd might bleed a whole lot more because of the pressure. Serena really made sure we were ready for when the actual piercing would begin, that we weren't feeling faint or anything after, and that the areas were gently cleaned up before letting us head out. She was also just totally fun to chat with while we waited for our ears to finish bleeding. Amazing experience with Serena and would definitely recommend! Prices are also pretty good! Very comparable to piercings you'd get at tattoo shops. We both got one lobe and one helix piercing, total was $70 before tax and tip. I don't know which costs how much, but I believe it was something like $50 for helix and $20 for lobe. Since piercing is a new service for them, they actually haven't gotten a full range of piercing jewelry to use yet. At the time we went, they just had the basic stud. read more

Honestly, I want to start this review by saying I've gotten 4 tattoos out of this shop and have been a client since 2018 would have gotten more as well, but I do not take kind to me addressing a valid concern I have and having my appointment canceled and not be given an alternative artist out of the shop or resolution. When that's not at all what I wanted I just wanted some reassurance and possibly a solution to my already existing tattoo. Then after their apology I was told that "the tattoo was done a year ago" insinuating that is why the line work is uneven... Tattoos are supposed to last a lifetime and I can tell u I have many tattoos and they look the same years later. Even tho I was there last month for them to correct the issue and even booked another tattoo with the same artist. I had a previous issue in this shop as well back in 2018 with the way one of their artist conducted themself on the phone they actually told me to take my business else where. They apologized for that even provided me with a free tattoo as an apology and a reason to come back. I will not be back after this. read more

I attended today to get a tattoo from HonTattoo. I had tattooed my Korean name and a meaningful word on my forearm. My first initial visit and consultation with them was very inviting and I felt very comfortable with the service I was receiving. When I attended today to receive the tattoo I met the owner and I had advised him and his staff why I was getting the tattoo. The owner suggested a different meaningful word that symbolizes the reason why I was getting the tattoo which was very important . The owner, assistant and JiYoo, the artist, were very caring and understanding. The professionalism and care that they provided was incredible. Given this was my first tattoo I did not feel scared or uncomfortable at all. They guided me through the entire process with the utmost professionalism. I highly recommend Hon Tattoo! I got my first tattoo here! Very happy with their patience and service given I was a walk-in!!! Def would recommend a first-timer to here! The other tattoo shops seemed to have a long wait (according to their Yelp reviews) and mine was somewhat impulsive so I decided to do a walk-in on this one! Minsol was my tattoo artist, I feel like she was more of a perfectionist than I am on my own tattoo which felt very reassuring. I had a design in mind so I was showing her pictures and giving a description of what I actually wanted. She went over every single detail with me very patiently and SUPER friendly. At points where I felt bad for being picky, she encouraged me to keep adjusting until I am happy with it completely. I got my tattoo on the wrist, it didn't hurt me at all (everyone's pain level is different though), I just felt some buzzing on my arm! It came out exactly like how I wanted it to be. The staff there were also very friendly and WELCOMING :) which is a big thing for me given I don't know much about tattoo stuff. I am on post-care day1.5 right now, will update my review as it heals. Came here with my girlfriend to get matching tattoos, so we decided to just walk in without an appointment and see where the universe takes us. It was snowing heavy on a Saturday and it's right alone Yonge and steeles which is a busy intersection. The parking in the front if very limited so we parked in the back which is private property so I asked the guy inside the shop and he said it was fine. Came in and he helped us right away which made us feel comfortable from the jump, we decided to get some Roman numerals and a heart, outlined with black and filled in with red. Btw it was a finger tat and a hand tat There was an artist there Isvy who helped us feel right at home and comfortable, my girlfriend went first and she was a trooper, I definitely felt the pain right away. The artist did such an amazing job since we got matching tattoos he did it crispy and exactly the same which u expect. The placement on the tattoos were perfect everything aligned and clean! They put a tape on it after which you have to leave on for 48 hours which kind of sucked because you can see the blood and getting dried up once we took it off after two days the tattoo looks clean and crispy... it's almost been a week and the tattoo is healing perfectly. The shop is clean very comfortable environment and the staff were very friendly. Definitely would come back again! read more

I've been wanting to get another tattoo for quite some time and I had been checking reviews with Hon Tattoo for months now. I finally took the plunge and made an appointment for this past Monday. I'm so glad I did. As simple a tattoo as it was how it came out and Shem did such a great job on it. I love it! It has a lot of meaning for me and I absolutely love it! The North York studio has an open and relaxed atmosphere which was completely different than the last place I went to. I love that you can see the other clients and artists. They also had some music playing in the background which for me, helped to tone down the adrenaline while Shem got to work. Lots of pictures on the walls also provided a nice distraction and gave a feel for each of the artists' work. I'd recommend coming here if this is your first tattoo or just another in your lineup. Went to Shark for my first ever tattoo. Got a realistic lion done and it was amazing. Came back a month later for 2 scripture tattoos done by San and a Vietnamese refugee boat tattoo by TK. Their work was amazing. Got 4 tattoos done in total in a month. Very friendly atmosphere. The atmosphere is good. The staff are very friendly. CT did my tatoo. However, this being my first tattoo, I didnt receive any after care instructions and they didn't check if I signed everything on the waiver. As days went by I had to frequently call or email them to explain problems I had with after care or to know if parts of my healing process was normal. I went for a touch up and even after the touch up ( its been 6 months since the touch up) I still see empty spots or rather areas that haven't been touched up properly. Areas that were worked on the most during touch up still have a scarred look to it. After my first tattoo experience here, I would probably go to a different place for my next one. read more

I had a very horrific and upsetting experience with this shop. My first semi big tattoo that was very simplistic and easy to accomplish turned out very badly. I'm still incredibly dissapointed with it even months later and am finding other pieces to cover up majority of it. The job was done by "shark". Let me start off with how the tattoo was initially booked with a different tattoo artist in the shop but a few hours later upon more research I realized that "shark" was a better suit for the rose tattoos I was going for. Two small roses with one small bud. The quote was for 600$ which is quite steep for a shop of this calibre and the artist- I still decided to give him a shot! Got a confirmation email saying that it's no problem and the switch has been made. Secondly. On my appointment day I received a phone call telling me to come an hour later then what I was scheduled for over a month ago- ok fine no problem. I get there and I'm waiting a half an hour for shark to finish his client. I was really not impressed right off the bat with how unprofessional this man was. You have your muppets call me to come an hour later then what my appointment was scheduled for and then have me wait another half hour while you're working on someone else? Thirdly. The image I came into the shop with was blown up and very straight forward for a professional artist to mimic. I was put on the spot before the session began to choose from other rose tattoos online that were more clear and easy for him to copy. I was insanely nervous and uncomfortable about doing this as the image that I wanted was something I took about 6-7 months looking at before I decided to make the jump. In the end I choose another rose as shark seemed uncomfortable and uneasy about one of the roses being too "dark". I told him I didn't want anything dark even if the image appears slightly dark it should all be light shading with no dark thick lines. As a professional doing this for decades apparently... you would think that they can be a visionary and do something as simple as that. With the rose I was forced to choose on the spot I told him that I will go with this one but "please leave this leaf out". Fourthly. The contract and agreement was for 600$. I noticed while shark is drawing up the stencil he's whispering with some snake next to him quietly. 5 minutes before the session began, I go to use the washroom and upon returning from the washroom this snake decides to tell me that this tattoo will now be 800$ and not 600$ as it's being done by shark. No notice prior- no heads up a Month ago when I requested for the change, no NOTHING! 5 minutes before the session. Is this normal? Fiftly. I tried helping as much as I could to explain where I wanted the tattoo but showing him repeatedly, but shark stencilled the portrait too small and not levelled correctly. He had to put it on and wipe it off about 5-6 times. I wanted it wrapping around my elbow and where my arm bends so i can continue on with a half sleeve. Instead he placed the tattoo upright on my upperarm going downwards? I don't know what's wrong with this fucking imbecile and this lowlife tattoo shop! There's more people! Keep reading ok! I'm not making any of this up, I'm being as sincere and genuine as anyone could possibly be. There's absolutely no exaggeration going on. This happened like 4 months ago- I never considered writing anything until now as I have to spend so much more money in COVERING majority of what I got after spending 700!?! Sixthly( if you can believe this). Tattoo session begins I'm nervous but excited and I trusted in shark to do a decent job as I seen some of his work and the roses he's done- shading he's capable of and his lines. During the whole procedure which lasted about 2 and a half hours he had some man beside him talking to him the entire time. This makes me believe that he was distracted in doing a proper job and focusing at the task at hand? He was almost screaming at one point having this discussion with the other man because the conversation they were having was so serious. It made me insanely irritated, irate and uncomfortable with how unprofessional he was. I didn't want to say anything as this man is putting permanent ink in my body.
