Marengo is one of Vienna's Bosnian grill restaurants .... and personally I think it might be the best Bosnian grill restaurant in Vienna. (it is also attractive inside.) I picked up two sudžukice sandwiches with grilled onions inside the always tasty lepinje flat bread. Marengo has the best sudžukice in Vienna ...... (the Ćevapčići or ćevapi is also excellent and I highly recommend as well.) At home I added Serbian Ajvar sauce I had picked up at the Brunnenmarkt in addition to some serious hot sauce I had brought with me from Philadelphia, My friend said that this was the best sandwich he ever ate in Vienna. Its off the beaten path but easy to access via taxi or public transportation. This is a traditional style Croatian restaurant. Decor...Feels like you are in Croatia with the painted walls, wood bench seats and general decor. There's a small outdoor section under umbrellas where we sat. At an intersection of a fairly quiet street so the car noise wasn't too bad. Service...This is a husband and wife team from Dubrovnik and are as sweet as you can be. Feels like you are being welcomed into their home. Food...Very traditional which means simple and clean flavors. + Fish stew - Started with fish stew with a yellow broth - swore it was spiced with saffron but the warm, yellow color and flavor came from vegetables. Notably carrots. + Fish - Salted whole Bronzino which is a Mediterranean Seabass. Delicate and perfectly cooked. They brought 3 raw whole fish to the table to allow us to pick which one we wanted and to show us ow fresh the fish is. This is typical for the Adriatic region. Fileted the fish at the table! + Grilled veggies - they were simple and straight forward. I would have preferred more veggies because they were so good. So that's the worst I have to say...a bigger portion of veggies Yes, I recommend this place!

All of this was highly recommended by our waiter Grohan -spelling? There was a wait but believe me it was well worth the wait! In addition or waiter highly recommended the almond parfait. This consisted of a cold ice cream parfait with caramelized fresh almonds to die for. The restaurant had a great atmosphere very quaint and on the outskirts of the busy city of Vienna. This was the last restaurant after spending a great seven days in Vienna and my daughter and I both agree it was by far the best restaurants so far - a restaurant not a mess.

I had different dishes here - schnitzels (stuffed and regular), goulash, soups, deserts and although every meal left me satisfied, it wasn't memorable. The outside seating garden patio is great and justifies a visit to this restaurant when the weather is nice. The service was also acceptable.
