It is understandable that Levante is somewhat more expensive due to it's 1st district location, but all said and done - a EUR 3.5 donner wrap should not cost EUR 10+ in any circumstance. Donners are good - not great, not spectacular, just good. Made with veal, and wrapped together with salad in a soft, yet chewy wrap. The meat is tender, but way under-seasoned and the the salad inside the wrap as well. This makes the donner taste bland. Also, no sauces are added inside the wrap itself, making it a bit on the dry side. On a positive note, the meat is cut fresh from the hand rotated donner grill, which is set up in a traditional way, using wood (like an open wood-burning oven). Also, this donner is not dripping with grease, unlike most of the ones you will find on street corner kiosks in Vienna, which is a good thing. Pide(s) - very good! 4 stars. I liked it a lot. It is prepared fresh and comes in 10 different varietals. The dough tasted good, properly seasoned and just delicious. Next time, I'm coming back just for this. Tzatziki - above average, so 3.5 stars. They don't use authentic Greek yogurt, which would make all the difference. The dish lacked a certain kick (garlic? more seasoning?) to be considered very good. That said, it made all the difference when combined with a dry-ish donner. Both of the above items are in EUR 10+ range, which, as said, is totally unjustified. The side dishes were unimpressive - french fries were 1 star at best and the side salad was not properly dressed and completely tasteless.

That turned out to be an excellent decision because the food I had for a couple of lunches was pretty good. Most customers choose a mains style, such as "Punjabi" or "New Delhi" or "Goan" (I don't remember the exact names, but you get the idea), then choose a kind of meat (lamb, chicken, etc) that will be cooked in the sauce, or choose the vegetarian thali option. You specify the level of spiciness/heat you want -- dont' worry, "medium hot" in this kitchen is pretty mild as far as In addition to the main dish, each thali comes with an order of fragrant rice, some small servings of vegetables dishes, a bit of freshly-baked naan, and a sweet dish. The restaurant also offers snacks like samosas, but I didn't try any of these. (The samosas seemed a little small for the price, and not enough customers seemed to be ordering them for me to try any until I knew the restaurant better.) Mango lassis seem to be a popular drinks option -- the one I tried was a bit tarter and not quite as sweet as I usually like. (It would also be great if they offered plain sweet lassis -- I didn't bother to ask if I could get that instead of a mango lassi.) Some definitely better than the others but still you are served same dishes just differently spiced. Portions and flavours are just like the rest at Thali down scaled, rationalized and modernized to a fast food chain style that is for an Indian place, in my opinion, impersonal, bland and somewhat sterile. Price-wise Thali is not an affordable Indian place as one might be used to having tried many in other European countries but considering the fact Austria is not a cheap country I'll say it is not all that bad.

The inside is equally well designed: cow-pattern couches and stylish chairs, nice table design and arrangement as well as a wonderful counter. The tables come with chili, hot sauces and Heinz Ketchup on them. I ordered a Classic Regular Burger with Classic Salted Fries as a side. The price was somewhere around €11 without a drink. I waited for my burger at the counter although I probably could have sat down but I chose to take the burger to the table myself. I took the seat on a well lighted table at the corner of the restaurant. The cow-pattern-pillows were comfortable to sit on. The first look at the Burger was somewhat disappointing. The salad looked sad and the bread unusual. The first bite was even more disappointing. While the meat tasted incredibly great (I really have to emphasize that) the rest of the burger was unspectacular if not boring. Tasty is something different. Trying to figure out what the cooks have messed up I disassembled my burger: meat - very good, salad - not that good, tomatoes and onions - as fresh as they could be and delicious, BBQ sauce - delicious but nearly not existent. I figured that the Burger actually was made up of delicious ingredients but the composition was bad. Let's talk about the fries: hand-cut, goldish and crispy. Extremely salted - too much in my humble opinion. Delicious aside from that. To conclude I'd say that I wouldn't recommend the restaurant at the moment unless you want to stop in for fries.

I think the breads are the same, aside from that fact that they seemed a bit more limp I didn't notice much difference. Flavor is on point, and the more rye breads look and taste like it. Meats at this location (particularly Chicken Teriyaki) seemed to be of slightly higher quality. Also, since they don't use little paper trays to add meat, but spoons, you get a little more! As for cheese, you can definitely get more types of cheese at an American location. Here they have two types, one is a shredded cheddar, and the other... well when I asked the clerk what kind of cheese it is, he answered "cheese". There are for sure fewer vegetable offerings here, I can say banana peppers and spinach were missing, but can't put my finger on what else. I will say that an advantage of this is that when it comes to vegetables, for me anyway, it is easier to say "everything", rather than have to list all the things I want. I do like that they have the same selection of dressings as U.S. locations, as from my 4 months in Austria, I get the impression that dressings are not as much a thing in this country as they are in the States. I deducted a star for more limited cheese and vegetable offerings. While it is nice that the meats seem to be of slightly higher quality, it does not over-rule the negatives.

I was at both restaurants and I have to say, the new deco and menu is a nice improvement. The food was fresh and amazingly so given the vast selection. Even the sushi was good. You can choose from the already prepared foods buffet or from the raw meats buffet and can have your choice of how you like it prepared. There are around 8 or 9 different ways you can choose such as red curry Thai, garlic, bbq etc. The staff is friendly and the place was very clean. I recommend.
