When you pull in the parking lot and the place is packed to the gills...that says two important…read morethings to me-- good food and decent prices. The sign out front advertises Thursday night special is a prime rib dinner. Hmmm. I wonder how much a piece of prime rib will cost here? Prime rib elsewhere runs about $26 or more, depending on the sides you get with it. So I go in and wait while they're clearing some tables, but this nice tall fellow asks me if I'm also waiting for a table and I reply with a smile and a yes. He asks how many? I hold up my index finger and he smiles and asks if I'd like to be seated outside on the porch--it's a nice evening, not hot--it's screened in and there's no bugs, so I knod approvingly and grab myself a small table with just the two seats. Also seated outside happened to be a lovely older couple who asked this fellow about their reservations coming up to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. I was unaware you could reserve the back porch for special events along with the "back yard" that's littered with the odd seating from rocking chairs to picnic benches, games of all kinds and even a quasi fire pit. Looks like they're going to have a great time with their family--some of whom are flying in from as far as Oregon. The interior is almost like walking into a Cracker Barrel but not as crowded--gifts, canned goods, pickled things, candy and lip balm. Cute cards and bottled wine. Everything intriguing and eye-catchingly clean and dust free. I've found that annoys me when items are left to gather dust and I think to myself "is it extra for the accumulation of dust on top?". I go ahead and decide to try their prime rib special, but forego the baked potato because there's no way I could eat all those carbohydrates...I get a small side salad and a small serving of "cowboy" beans, which are probably pinto beans . I also order their "cowboy" egg rolls and figure I'll eat a little and take the rest home. My salad comes to me and it's nothing fancy, but fresh and crisp. Then my egg rolls. Dipped in some ranch, they're really good. Coleslaw, briskety goodness. Not far into my first 1/2 of an egg roll, out comes my prime rib and it looks GORGEOUS! So glad I decided against getting a huge baked potato, because I ended up pouring the beans on the same plate, where they took a nice swim in the accompanying au jus. I've had lots of prime rib before. Always cooked in an oven and with tons of herbs on the outside. This is one I'd never had before in my whole life. Smoked prime rib. What a flavor difference! Usually, what's on the outside and the au jus and/or horseradish adds some flavor to a prime rib. Smokiness never enters that picture. It's a whole other taste/flavor sensation you're not expecting and are surprised when this tender piece of meat hits your tongue! So good! Will I go back? You betcha! $19.99 for a huge chunky slice of smoked prime rib and two sides? Heck yeah! There's a special most days, I heard. I'm going to hafta check out the rest of the days! Good service, good food and fabulous prices--NOW I know why they were packed!

The exterior is clean and simple. When you walk in, it's clean, simple, and a bit Chip and Joanna-esque, which I love. I was quickly greeted and told I could sit anywhere. I was given a menu and their drink menu. After being off coffee for a week, I saw that they make their own coffee syrups, so I got an iced decaf almond milk latte with their salted caramel syrup. While I waited, I looked over the menu. I really wanted to try the french toast or the waffle, but opted for the bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant and cup of their cheese grits. The latte came out quickly and tasted exquisite. Sometimes you get decaf and it tastes watery, but not this latte. My friend ordered a salad with grilled chicken on top. Everythign came out quickly. The first thing I noticed were the cheese grits. They were delicious. Rich, creamy, and flavorful. Get them. The bacon egg and cheese on a croissant was also really good. They sell coffee at their shop to bring home.

It was just after noon on a Friday when we arrived and there was a 10-minute wait for a table. Upon being seated, we were presented the menu. We both considered ordering the Reuben Sandwich but I opted instead for the Club Sandwich on Ciabatta (as recommended by our server) and a side of Seafood Chowder. We both just ordered water with a slice of lemon to drink. Our server eventually came back with my wife's Reuben sandwich served with a bag of chips and she also had my cup of chowder, commenting how the club sandwich will be served shortly. My wife liked her Reuben, with tender meat and sharp sauerkraut. She also liked how the rye bread held up to the strong flavors. My chowder was equally good but it wasn't served with crackers. We waited a while for our server to return so I could ask for some crackers but she went ghost on us. Finally, more than 10 minutes after my wife was served her sandwich, a gentleman, who we can only assume was the manager, came over to ask if I've been served my club sandwich. Of course I pointed to a clean table to indicate no sighting of my sandwich and I also asked for some crackers. A few minutes later, the same man came back with some crackers and apologized for a mix up in the back. That's when I told them to forget the club sandwich so we can be on our way. To the manager's credit, he had the club sandwich boxed up and gave it to me free of charge. He was very apologetic. I was still a bit miffed and thought about leaving the sandwich there but my wife convinced me otherwise. Needless to say, service wasn't at the forefront during that dining experience. Despite the service mix up, however, I was still inclined to give this place 4 stars for the taste and quality of the food. The staff can have some inconsistencies and I tend to believe that's not the norm for this establishment which has earned high marks on Yelp.

Tatum was so kind and on top of my to‑go order! She greeted me right away, and when I told her I had a to‑go order, she knew exactly what it was without any confusion, which made the whole pickup feel really easy and calm. The green smoothie was fresh, The Works bagel was loaded and REALLY satisfying (and perfectly filling), and the chickpea salad from the fridge case made an easy, healthy meal for later. It's the kind of 'healthy hippie' spot I look for on trips, and I'd definitely stop here again!! I don't know how many times I said "oh wow, that's so good!!" even though I was eating by myself. It wasn't exactly what I was going for, but that's more on me than the place. We also got a Pick Two combo: a strawberry banana smoothie (with oat milk, banana, strawberries, flax seeds, and agave) and the Thai Chicken Crunch salad (romaine, red cabbage, roasted chicken, carrots, celery, and wontons). Everything was decent and fresh, just nothing that really stood out flavor-wise. We took everything to go since we were busy getting her room set up, and it worked for what we needed--a quick, fairly healthy option. One thing I wish they offered was a smaller portion size; everything felt a bit too much for a light lunch.
