First off, they advertise themselves as a "local" company. THEY ARE NOT. They just cut and past…read morethe name of your town and insert it into their business name and throughout their web page to make it appear they are local. It's BS. I made an appointment with them to repair my Kenmore oven that went out after a power outage. They scheduled an appointment for the next day from 9 am - noon and asked for my credit card for the minimum appointment charge. That made me nervous, so I used my American Express because they're very good about handling problems if there is a bad charge. The company then called back within the hour from an "888" number, which I didn't notice until after I looked at my call log, and moved the appointment to 1 pm - 3 pm. In the meantime I received an email from American Express that my card had been charged $59.99 from "THE APPLIANCE REPAIR MEN". I looked up the company name on the credit charge, different from that listed in their ad. It is apparently out of Phoenix, AZ, not Texas and definitely not a local company as claimed. I then looked at Better Business rating for the company and it was very poor with a LOT of serious complaints. I was prepared to question the repair person regarding their certifications to work on Kenmore appliances when the arrived. Well, they never showed up and never called by 3:30 pm for the 1 pm - 3 pm appointment. I tried calling the company to let them know they didn't call or arrive and selected the option "2" for "existing appointments". It connected me and all I heard was household type background noise, but no one every answered my repeated "Hello? Is anyone there?" I hung up and called back a total of three times with the same result. At this point, I called back the main number and told them I want my money refunded, they connected me with "Customer Service" and I told them to credit the charge on my American Express and if it's not done I'm filing a dispute on the charge. That was yesterday, I'll see if my card it credited. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. They are dishonest and it is just some big clearing house that makes an appointment with God only knows who and just has a big foreign call center behind their numbers. It's BAD NEWS!!!!! I'm glad I didn't let these people into my home!

UPDATE!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! After the fiasco…read morelisted below, my refrigerator still did not work. I ended up calling another repairman who informed me that the tech with Alvin Appliance did not replace the capacitor and relay as he stated (and charged me for) but instead installed a $10 hard start kit. Turns out, my compressor is bad and because of this modification, the warranty on my 3 year old refrigerator (compressors are warrantied for 10 years) is now void. RUN...DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY!! What a fiasco! We realized on Sunday that our fridge/freezer wasn't cooling and need to call someone out to look at it. Called this company and setup an appointment for the following Monday morning. Repair guy was supposed to be there between 7am and 10am with a call 30 minutes before arriving. The guy did call to tell me he was running late (which I appreciated) and that he would be there between 11am and noon. Great! I thought, I'll just head home for lunch and wait on the guy. He didn't show up until 1pm, a full hour after he said he would with no additional call about him being late. My fridge needed a new capacitor, which he didn't have on hand, so he had to order one. He told me it would come in on Tuesday so we made an appointment for repair on Wednesday. Fast forward to Wednesday and the the guy calls about 2pm to say that the wrong part was delivered he would have to reorder so the part wouldn't come until Thursday. I told him I would like to setup an appointment for Friday. I asked if we could be the first call on the list Friday morning for the inconvenience, to which he agreed. He said he would be at my house between 8am and 9am Friday morning. Fast forward to Friday, 9:30am and still no repair man. I text him and ask if we are still scheduled and he replies that he will be at my house in 30-45 minutes. At 11:20am, I still have not seen or heard from the guy so I text again. I took the morning off work for this repair and I'm trying to be courteous and keep my boss posted. I tell him that I am missing work and ask when he will be arriving. He replies that he is 25 minutes out. He finally shows up an 12 noon and it takes him about 20 minutes to repair the fridge. The guy was super nice and seemed to be knowledgeable and quick with the repair, if only he could be a little more courteous of others time. I missed almost 2 full days of work for the original service call and then the repair. I would not likely call this company again for repairs.

I have had my sewing, a Husqvarna Pro for several years, over 12 and she needed a tune up badly!…read more Alvin sewing was recommended by several ppl. But I also read reviews and reading some of the reviews I was considered. But I trusted my gut and called about bringing her in and they were so nice and very helpful. It took a bit to get it back and that is fine as I figured she needed work got it back yesterday and she is sewing like she did when I first got her. I am very grateful for them and will be recommending friends to them as well. Thank you again for taking such good care of me and doing and excellent repair and tune up. God bless, Laura weidle

I dropped off my Janome 4120 machine on April 9. I was told 4-6 weeks for repair. Okay, kinda long…read morebut I get it. I didn't actually call to check on my machine until June 4, 8 weeks after drop off. The lady was very rude when I asked why it was delayed and gave a snark response when I asked for an ETA, seemed like a reasonable inquiry since we had gone 2 weeks past estimate without communication. Fast forward an additional 4 weeks. She told me today that it would be "blue tagged" - she didn't realize it had been waiting so long. Seems they need a better system. Again, I asked for an ETA, not unreasonable to request at the 3 month mark. She told me that hopefully soon when "he" returns from vacation. I assume this "he" is the repairman? I do wonder if this is the same vacation from my June call or a new one? I told her I would come pick it up as the manufacturer repair time quote was 2 weeks. She proceeds to laugh and tell me someone lied because it is at least 6 weeks, she "had just spoken with them". Funny. I called original dealer moments later & was told max of 2 business days after receipt for a phone call to discuss estimateand repairs done within 7 business days. I am 100% for shopping small, local business as much as possible, but I will never be back to this place. ]
