She fell at 2am on a Sunday. The facility is supposed to check on their residents by 9 am. No one checked on my mother that day at all. Infuriating. I talk with mother usually every Sunday so when I didn't hear back from her by Monday morning, I called Crestview to do a wellness check. Tori said she went to check on mom and said that mom was just tired but okay. So it took me calling to get them to check on her. Turns out that later in the day, another gal named Lisa, found my mom at 3pm still lying on the bathroom floor, in pain. She called 911 and my mom was taken to the hospital - after lying on the floor for 37 hours. So much for good care. We found a new place for mom and when I went to clean our mom's apt at Crestview last week, the director Christina asked to speak to me. She denied that we had left her any voice messages and said she didn't receive any - from myself, my aunt and also mom's social worker. Christina insisted we give a written 30-day notice and that mom has to pay for September rent despite her move being involuntary, as she can no longer live independently. I asked Christina if there was any way we could reach an agreement since we are not a litigious family, but she was unwilling to budge at all. OH, P.S. The State of Missouri is now investigating them for the elder abuse.

We have used a few services that you pay for such as Senior Helpers when she had a wound that needed daily tending and that was very helpful and reassuring. Also the on-site salon for haircuts and pedicures is convenient. One huge downside to caution about is that meals are not served at all on Sunday nights. This has been burdensome for our family and other residents have grumbled about this repeatedly. They get used to not cooking and then there is no meal and families are not always able to help. So then it's cold leftovers or PBJ. But that is the only down side, other than that, it's a wonderful place and we would recommend it!

Mom was a registered nurse until she retired at the ripe old age of 83 and the last 30+ years of her career was spent in nursing homes and care facilities, so she knew what she wanted in one for herself. While Mom was at Southview, she was well taken care of, and despite having a difficult personality (to say the least...), the staff was always friendly and accommodating whenever I came to visit and as I watched my mom interact with them. The facility was clean, attractive, and updated. It is a smaller facility, which is what my mom wanted, and there were many activities available. My mom's space was perfect for her while she was a resident there.

Two days after posting my initial review,this unit had done a 180° ! Employees who were problematic had been let go,the staff was working as a diligent team,treating eachother and residents with help and kindness without bickering or complaining,tasks getting done in a routine manner,and more managers present. I emailed them to let them know how impressed I was with what I saw and then had a terrific conversation with the overall director . She took no sides,just addressed and took action professionally. We learned at 1:00 p.m. that we needed care for our Mother that same night. We called Home Care Assist at 1:00 and they met with us at 3:00 the same day. They were able to have a night care giver that same night. After that, our Mother had the same care giver every night, Monday through Friday. Different care givers came on the weekends. They were very dependable and punctual with their service. If there were any changes in the schedule the company communicated well with us. She needed skilled care and it was a holiday weekend. Seniors Home Care had a nurse meet me and promptly set up in home care. The nurse was thorough, caring, and very professional. The care givers who subsequently came to my parent's home were loving, hard working, skilled professionals who adapted to my mom and dad's way of life. They provided skilled care until my mom was able to get back on her feet and now continue to provide care three times a week. The care givers drive both my parents, each with a walker, to the grocery store, pharmacy, doctor's appointments and random errands. On the days there is a Senior Home care skilled professional in the house I am at ease knowing they will get a good meal as well as arrive promptly at the doctor's office with someone able to handle two weak adults. The care giver becomes a friendly companion and provides amazing feedback to the family. They maintain an detailed notebook and in their spare time they do light housekeeping and laundry. They provide the assistance my parents need to stay in their own home and afford the rest of the family a much needed break from care giving chores. They arrive on time as scheduled. It takes a special person to enjoy working with the elderly and Seniors Home Care has found numerous such people. Senior Home Care does an amazing job of training these motivated care givers to make them the best in the industry. We were lucky enough to be able to wait for a patio apt to become available, which for our 'Oma/Mom' made all the difference for her as she was a big time nature lover. The gardening is gorgeous. The STAFF IS AMAZING from Lisa in the front office to CNAs to nurses and house cleaning. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH NICE THINGS! They worked so hard to ensure that 'Mom' was not only well cared for, but loved!! And when the end came near, they so kindly worked with us during Mom's short time in hospice, we were able to keep her in her home until she passed. We will be FOREVER grateful to everyone at HP. We all actually MISS seeing everyone regularly, including other residents. They became friends. :-)

What I observed at Dolan is reason for my reviewing. Some of Dolan staff at her house were lovely, but a lot were not. The turnover of staff very concerning, over 30 workers left within my moms short time. The head RNs that ran the house as well. There is a huge lack of training for dementia, huge lack of engagement with clients, a lot of TV time as well. The music people that come in 1-2x a week are excellent and probably best part and the girl who came maybe 1x a week for a craft was lovely and engaging. But the personal care I'd give a zero to. I told management, Steve and Tim Dolan these negatives I saw, numerous times I was visiting and there was NEVER any follow up or changes. Saw the same lack of engagement every visit, weekends being the worst. Beware before you sign your family member up. I think all houses may be different. I'd recommend talking to other families before you sign up, not families that Steve or Tim recommend , but random families. Stop in unannounced see what is really going on,. Beware there is only 1 staff person on duty at house for 12 hours alone with 10 elderly people. They also expect the caregivers to cook and clean WHILE they are supposed to be engaging with your loved ones which I found odd. I was there too many times where 5-6 people lined up in front of TV and the 2 person staff not to be seen. It s difficult job, but please do your homework on the Dolan house your family member will be living before you move them there.

American House in Wildwood Missouri gives the most excellent care for…read more  Assisted Living and  Assisted Living with Rehabilitation. They also have a memory care wing.  The staff and directors are very caring and really want to help one succeed in rehabilitation and to be happy and comfortable for both their long-term  and short-term Assisted Living residents.  An added bonus is that the food is outstanding. For me, anyway, it's Michelin star good. American House Wildwood itself is spotless - people are always cleaning. The PT OT area is excellently staffed and has everything needed for recovery.  The bottom line is that  American House Wildwood want people in rehab to succeed, and for Assisted Living residents to be comfortable, happy, seen as a person and well cared for. They get to know their residents - regardless of what issues may have brought them there. On a scale of one to 10, I give it an outstanding  20.
