This Giant Tiger is an Express Store, which means it's much smaller than regular Giant Tigers. It feels a bit small and dingy, and is essentially a discount convenience store. The regular Giant Tigers are discount stores, similar to the now defunct Bargain Harold's in Toronto, or Bi-Way (which shut down, but I heard they will re-open a slightly re-branded store on Orfus Rd in Toronto (it will be called "Bi-Way $10 Store")). So the quality of the clothing there is not great, and the toys are usually not brand names, but they have inexpensive grocery items. Giant Tiger is a Canadian company and it originated here in Ottawa (the very first location was in the Byward Market, and it's still there). I've only been in this location a few times. It's not my favourite, but is convenient for the local residents.

I find that during the week their selection is fantastic, and the store is relatively cleaner compared to some of the other locations that I have checked out. If you stop in during the week, it is not that busy and is usually pleasant to browse and shop in. I cannot say the same for the weekends. They are well stocked with a larger selection of furniture, rugs, and seasonal items that are rather in better condition than other locations. I find items are nicely displayed here, and not just thrown on a shelf. The employees at this location are friendly, and the lines are rarely an issue. I can spend hours at this HomeSense!!

They do have a clearance section towards the back of the store, but most of the stuff there was actually past its best before date. If you love gourmet stinky cheeses, they had lots! As for me, I'll just stick to brie, harvati and other benign to the nose cheeses thank you very much ;) Fun store to poke around. Lots of free parking.

Did you know that there's a difference in the mechanisms of a pepper and salt mills? Apparently the salt can rust and corrode a pepper mill, and the pepper is too hard for a salt mill. Whodathunk?! I actually went in looking for coffee pots. The ones we have at work have been seriously used and abused. I'm also feeling the need for an espresso or latté machine, and was hoping I might find one of those nifty combo things here. Turns out that the design I'm thinking of is a bit passé. Too bad for me! However, the good coffee makers they have here are too good for work (read: expensive), and could almost be professional, like for coffee shops. So, I will have to keep shopping. Yum. We loved that it's a local store and we try to support local in our purchases whenever possible. They have a variety of furniture on the floor as well as decor of all kinds. The team at Blueprint Home was absolutely great! Karrie and Kim were very knowledgeable and helpful when we explained to them what we were looking for. We could tell that they are passionate about what they do and actually care about providing excellent service to their clients. We ended up buying a Lind leather couch and love seat for a good deal. We ordered them in July and we were expecting to receive them at the end of November, but the shipment arrived early November instead. It was a pleasant surprise! The white glove delivery experience was amazing and we're very content with our overall experience with Blueprint Home. We're planning on going back to get more furniture and decor there in the future. We highly recommend them!

Yesterday i went to return an item. I was told the returns was down as the person dealing with this…read morewas not in. I asked to see the manager to discuss this further and upon the manager arriving I got the exact same response. I asked the manager whether I was able to able to exchange the product for another item and if there are able to manually write down the item for which i had a receipt for and was still declined. When the manager noticed my frustration, in-order to get rid of me I was told to please go ahead and make a complaint if i was not happy about the service. Me personally being in the customer service business I definitely though this was highly un-professional and that this situation could have been dealt with better or for CT to have a back-up plan in place.

While waiting for the traffic lights to change, I liked seeing a store directory. I came here without any knowledge of the stores here. I liked coming here to figure it out. The Trainyards is like Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga. It is a bunch of stores that cover a lot of land. Think of it as a neighbourhood of stores. You have to strategically figure out where to park and walk to the stores that are around you. During my visit, I parked a grand total of three times. I stopped by Michaels and got some good items that were on sale. I was a happy shopper! I then parked in front of the Gap outlet. I also visited Old Navy and Sail that were on either side of the store. I then decided to drive and check out what other stores were there. I spotted Kettleman's Bagel Co. and parked to have lunch. The selection of stores is cool. If you are more of a mall shopper, this setup may not be for you. If you do like box stores, you'd like it here. My only problem I had was dealing with a woman in a minivan who was waiting for me to leave my spot to pull through. She actually honked at me. I didn't appreciate it and gave her a signal to say that I was staying. I was pulling up my GPS and I was under no obligation to move out of a parking spot to convenience an impatient idiot. (289)

There's a Kettleman's Bagel shop here; wish we had one in Kanata / Stittsville! The mall was big enough to be inviting to return. We will definitely come back!
