One late afternoon this week I found myself at Torvehallerne after a coffee date, with no idea what to make for dinner. Luckily, I'd walked by the Homemate stand earlier, so I decided to try it out.
The concept is simple - they have portion-sized prepared meals that require about 15 minutes to finish cooking at home. That gives you all the benefits of a fresh, home cooked meal - just that someone has done all the chopping, marinating, and preparing for you!
Having a sick boyfriend at home, I decided to go with the Italian minestrone soup, together with focaccia bread. That cost 115kr in total, which is super fair for a meal for two.
At home, the bread simply needed to be baked for 15min, which was also the time it took to "assemble" the soup, which came in different containers. The instructions were easy to follow, and in just three steps, we had a delicious, steaming hot minestrone soup, topped with gremolata and a drizzle of truffle oil. Both soup and bread were really good. The only minus was that the bread stuck to the container after baking, so it was a bit of a struggle to get it out.
All in all a really positive experience, and I'll be trying some of their other dishes, too. read more
