It was about a week before July 4th, and many of their July 4th celebratory items were damaged, at least the ones that were left were damaged. So we kind of avoided them... We picked up a few small pool toys for my SiL pool, and some things that my kid could play with like chalk and markers and coloring books. They have a nice candy section. Everything is cheap, and you can tell that it is cheap. It is slightly higher quality that the dollar store lol, but still, most of the items here are designed to be used lightly or something along those lines. All in all a nice store. If you are early in the season, they have plenty of seasonal items in stock! Great place to get summer items!!!

I did not know about this shop until very recently (I only went to Maplewood for the first time a few months ago). Before talking about the shop itself, I will say that during my recent visit the staff was very nice (this included two young women and one older one - possibly the owner?). I overheard them having several conversations with customers and they all seemed very familiar and friendly. Of course, this is just my experience, so take that as you will. No. 165 (so named for the building number) is an absolutely adorable, comfortable and whimsical shop in Maplewood. They sell all sorts of items ranging from novelty items, candy, clothes, stationary, dish towels, purses, soaps and more. Everything in the shop is either meant to be charming, beautiful or tongue-in-cheek and I love that combination. Interestingly, I saw a note on the counter that indicated at some point last year this shop was going to close, but a strong reaction from the neighborhood helped the owner to change their mind and keep the shop open. What that meant on a practical level is that during my visit a lot of the shelves were definitely more bare than I think they would normally be. This decision is recent, so I am hoping that means in the next couple months the store will restock and have more to offer than it already has. If you're in the area, definitely make it a point to visit No. 165!

This is a great store to find in your town. First of all it is a very niche place. Filling what…read moreshouldn't be a niche need but let's be honest we all know it is. They sell zero waste products. What does that mean? Well I'm no expert and man I'm probably going to get some if this wrong. We went a couple weeks ago and I was just reflecting on how I had not written. A review because I've been so busy writing poetry and fiction but more on that later. Yeah, so turns out they have these big containers of things like soap, shampoo, detergent, housecleaning products and basically you bring in your own glass bottle or you purchase a bottle one time, and then instead of continuing to buy plastic bottles full of housecleaning products you just come back to this store and refill them. I could honestly walk here it's probably around a mile from my house and then I would be buying this stuff and not driving so my carbon footprint would be nothing. I feel like we've stopped talking about carbon footprints. We should probably start talking about that again. Also just lovely housewares. We bought these little towels to use instead of paper towels. I was skeptical but they've worked great. And I have stopped buying so many rolls of paper towels which I feel good about. Especially since I'm so bad about recycling. I'm sorry I just think it's a scam. We bought a really nice cutting board. I feel like we bought something else. The people who worked there were delightful. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of nice houseware items. I feel like my reviews are usually funnier than this one but I have a sore throat this morning and we have company and I woke up and I'm like oh no I hope I don't have Covid because a month or so ago we had Covid. Home test said no Covid but you know how these ADHD brains can spiral. But I did want to mention my book which is more specifically talked about in my bio. Please buy a copy it's funnier than this review. Or read some other reviews most are hilarious. (In my defense, I am carrying an iced latte.) This is not your typical suburban mall. There are no fluorescent lights illuminating a food court full of teenagers eating pretzels. Instead, you'll find restaurants, cafés, valet parking, and enough designer stores to make you briefly consider whether you, too, are the kind of person who needs a silk scarf. The Short Hills Mall somehow manages to feel both luxurious and welcoming. Whether you're there to buy a designer handbag or simply wander around with a coffee and people-watch, there's something lovely about spending an afternoon here. Five stars for allowing me to feel rich for a few hours.

It has a nice mix of luxury brands along with more affordable options. I especially like the Macy's here, it's never crowded, as well as Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel. They also recently added little words project (love this store and its mission to spread kindness ). We also came for their Christmas Santa photos, and it was a really nice experience meeting Santa with the kids. The only downside is that I wish they had a food court. It would definitely make the shopping experience easier, especially when you're there with kids and want to grab a quick bite. Overall, I like coming here.
