Room left half cleaned from house keeping
Matt W.

I'm giving two stars due to the friendliness of the front desk staff and the location. My call team and I have stayed here throughout the month of June and as we finish this trip we will all be staying at a different location moving forward. In fact I've had two colleagues cancel this trip prior to arrival and moved hotels. Overall service is lacking. On my first trip my key card kept deactivating, fortunately the young woman at the desk figured out it was due to the batteries going out in my door. House keeping the first time was unpredictable. The hotel also had cooktops available, however no pans readily available. Trip 2 I arrived and was told again they had a cook top in my room however no pans. This was on a Sunday night. I was unable to get pans until Tuesday which is hard as my team and I spent 15+ days a month on the road so we prefer to eat in when we can. By Tuesday I again requested housekeeping come on Wednesday which they didn't, so requested again on Thursday (no show) trash backing up. The front desk staff was apologetic providing towels, Friday housekeeping showed up as I was leaving. When I arrived back to my room the bed was stripped with linens lying on the couch, towels were taken out but not replenished, and trash was just left piled under the sink. I've never seen anything like it. I again spoke to the desk staff and housekeeping had left. I offered to make my own bed and take out trash but they said it was a miscommunication with the computer system. The only way I've made progress was through the front desk staff and conversations with Hilton Corporate. I believe these issues are isolated to this location and not representative to Hilton Brands, so moving forward we will have staff utilize other locations. I would encourage anyone to save the headaches and book another location! Update: Friday evening hotel staff from the desk did come and finish servicing my room which was very much appreciated. Again I hope that I return to better experiences at other Hilton properties.

The Home2 Gainesville is located conveniently close to the University of Florida campus. The hotel is small but intimate with only about five or six floors. The great part about the Home2 brand is that all rooms are suites. Who doesn't like some extra space while traveling? The rooms were nicely decorated although they could be modernized a little bit. The rooms have a choice of two queens or a king sized bed along with a sofa that turns into a sofa bed. There is also a closet, desk, and kitchenette area in the rooms. The bathrooms are spacious and very clean as well. I loved that this hotel had complimentary breakfast in the morning. They had many options from egg sandwiches to gluten free oatmeal. I loved that they catered to every palate. The Home2 is a wonderful place to stay in the Gainesville area at an affordable price!

For a week during a business trip, Home2 was my home away from home. Upon checking in, I was greeted by friendly staff. Check in was seamless and being a Hilton Honors member provide additional perks like premium WiFi and courtesy bottled water in my room. Home2 is an extended stay hotel with kitchen amenities including a hot plate stove and grills located outside for your convenience. Complimentary breakfast was provided with your stay. Room was clean with Neutrogena products. Centrally located by the UF.

Mexican restaurant across the street

This place rocks. The staff was really great here. They always checked on you. The breakfast was really good. Serve yourself type. Across the street was one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever eaten at. The hotel leaves bags on your door (washcloths and stuff) if you chose not to have your room clean. Great place.

I love this hotel! This was easily one of my best hotel experiences. The place just opened two weeks before my stay, so everything was sparkling new. We got to the hotel a little early, around 2pm. But the front desk staff, Kristen and Rachel, were super friendly, and got a room cleaned for us in half an hour. Meanwhile, we relaxed by the fire pit (it was a cold day)! We were pretty impressed with the room we had. It's not the biggest room we had, but it was super spacious for the five of us. Two large queen beds and a sofa bed, with a pretty big 50" TV! In the foyer, there was a small kitchen with a large fridge and microwave, dishwasher, sink, and area for a portable stove top. We did make dinner one night. The stove top was okay, but it only came with one skillet. We were cooking pasta so we had to cook it in the microwave with the microwavable dishware. They should have pots. The bathroom was a little smaller than expected but functional and modern. I kind of liked the shower versus the tub. Be aware that there are pumps of shampoo and body wash, not those annoying little bottles. The two queen beds were super comfy. They were just the right firmness and the sheets were really soft, the softest I've had in a mid range hotel. I also liked the padded headboard, which was nice for reading. There is also TONS of lighting but be aware that if some of your lights aren't turning on, make sure the master switch by the door is on. Breakfast here is a little different from other hotels. They have usual cereals and doughnuts, but everything else is different. There are microwavable breakfast sandwiches (really good), buckwheat waffles, and lots of toppings, including Nutella! The saline pool was large and furnished nicely. However it was freezing all the time we tried to swim! The pool gets morning sun, and we are always out doing things in the morning. By after dinner, it was so cold! We still swam a little but it was followed by trips to the adjacent fire pit. The gym was small but well equipped, with two treadmills, a stationary bike, elliptical, weight machine, dumbbells, and weighted balls. One issue I found in the brand new hotel was a general look of disregard to workmanship. It looked great from a distance, but some areas looked poorly installed...there was lots of visible glue/painted over wallpaper/mistakes. Nothing major, but just something a little shocking. Two other gripes were housekeeping oversights (had to ask for toilet paper twice) and horrible WiFi reception. But on the bright side, we received six towels in our room (we always have to ask for more), and the staff said that AT&T would be by to fix the WiFi. The location is great. It's only 10 minutes to UF, a little more walking. We could see Shands hospital from our room (two queen rooms face the street), and its 20 minutes to Payne's Prarie or Devil's Millhopper, and an hour to Ocala. There's a Publix 10 minutes away and a Dollar General across the street. However, the area isn't fancy. The best part here was the staff. Kristen, Rachel, Gabby, and Erica were all super friendly! Rachel (I believe, curly hair, glasses, usually in the morning) checked us in the first day, and every day thereafter she followed up with us to see how we were doing, etc. The service was just so friendly and the staff made you feel so welcome. As mentioned earlier, this was an awesome stay! The hotel was new and nice, the rooms were functional, and the staff was so awesome. Anytime I'm in the Gainesville area, I will definitely stay here again.

Another review I swore I wrote. Even thought we reside in Ocala, we have stayed here twice in the…read morepast year when my husband had to depart or arrive at Gainesville Regional Airport. We have stayed at another hotel in the past but it is not part of the Hilton brand. Both times we stayed here, the weather was colder. The first time, we used the fire pit outside and the fireplace in the lobby was on but not the recent visit. I was looking forward to that. We had a digital key and I arrived prior to hubs, with no issues. The room was clean but there were no regular coffee kcups- just tea and decaf. I unfortunately did not notice that until the morning but was smart enough to bring my own. I used the shower first, which the cold water was almost non existent. If I turned the dial maybe to the 11 o'clock dial, it was not scolding my skin. The water also felt very slimy, which I believe means the water was soft. We had credits to use so after I picked up hubs, we went to the bar in the lobby for a couple of drinks. There was only one employee working and he was super busy. There were a lot of patrons there so we ordered drinks from him in between him taking care of others. We were enjoying ourselves lounging in the lobby and were able to order a second round. Their lobby is very nice and cozy. We requested a late checkout when we were done and told 1pm. Hubs paid in advance for the breakfast so we headed there around 10am. When we checked at the front desk, one of the breakfast staff informed us they did not have much food left. I thought that was messed up because breakfast is not included so there should be plenty of stock. The kitchen dude cooked us up some eggs and bacon, which I think was the last of what they had. We also checked with the desk to assure we had the late checkout, to which the employee gave us an earlier time. We then reiterated what was given to us the previous night and he put it in the computer. Shockingly, housekeeping knocked on the door of course at noon and we had to tell them again. We do like this hotel and will consider this location the next time we stay in Gainesville but will not pay for the breakfast and I will have to check immediately entering the room for supplies. The staff were professional and friendly so that is always a positive attribute.

**UPDATE** After speaking to customer service, they DID credit me some hilton rewards point. So…read morethey DID make up for the stay. Grateful for that** Immediately upon arrival there were young kids playing baseball in parking lot, parents got upset that I wanted to get through to park car...that was the beginning of the end...went in to check in and noticed they were hosting A LOT of kids baseball players. I asked if I left and didnt check if if they'd NOT charge me as I didnt want to stay in a Hilton with a lot of screaming obnoxious kids. Clerk said that NO they WOULD still charge me. OOOOOK then. Then mid conversation with desk girl, some rude dude stumbles up to the front desk asking where the bar is. Front desk cuts off my conversation and tells him where to go to meet his friends. Like what?! You're checking me in...why cater to that type of person when you're already dealing with a guest? There were limited rooms available so I was on first floor. The room itself was great...except mini frig didn't work (apparently common in gainesville) However, within minutes of being in room with door shut I could hear and feel the thumping music and kids screaming. I was there on a BUSINESS trip. I detest thumping foul music to begin with but especially at a HILTON! I expect more than that. I've never had this problem or any problem at any other Hilton other than now the 2 in Gainesville. I was advised by the front desk that "quiet time" starts at 11pm. That's pure insanity and totally unacceptable. In the morning when I checked out the gentleman that was at front desk asked how my stay was. I replied "awful" He wanted to know why. I proceeded to explain and he made excuses the entire time. Told me "That's Gainesville. A sports community." blah blah blah. I don't care if it's Gainesville or anywhere else, when I go to a Hilton I expect peace, quiet, quality otherwise I could stay at a grotesque Motel 8 or some nasty place. Ironically though I've now stayed at 2 different Hiltons in Gainesville and apparently "it IS Gainesville" equates to low quality, substandard service and accommodations. The other hilton was gross/nasty/maintenance issues but quiet...The Garden Inn Hilton was opposite...clean but loud, rude and obnoxious. After this stay, I've decided I will no longer be doing business in Gainesville because it's apparent that the Hilton's there don't meet my expectations like they do in Ormond Beach, Daytona and other areas. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY and wish I had driven the 300+ miles home when I was done with my client on Saturday instead of staying...had I known how bad it was going to be, I'd have gone ahead and lost my $170 for the night and driven straight back. TOTAL FAIL on Hilton.

Near Butler plaza and lots of good shoppings and restaurants, it is a perfect place to stay. It is about 15 minutes away from campus too. It is connected to a Holiday Inn Express, but Staybridge guests have their own separate amenities. The hotel itself is kept very clean and organized. The staff is on point with customer service and are very efficient. They are also accommodating as well! There is a large breakfast areas for guests to get their complimentary breakfast each morning. They offer a decent sized gym to get a nice workout in. As well as a very nice outdoor space that offers plenty of seating, spots to grill, or just spots to relax by the pool. The pool is a nice size with nice decorations. There is also a hot tub, which was very enjoyable. Just by the pool, there is an outdoor basket court too. The outdoor space is very relaxing and a great place to hang out and enjoy yourself. The breakfast is always very satisfying when we come here. They offer a nice variety with just about anything you can think of. The staff does a great job keeping it tidy and the food restocked. I enjoy the fresh fruit they provide, it is so refreshing! As well as the variety of pastries including the scones and filled muffins, yummy. The eggs are always good and I appreciate that they always have pico, guacamole, and cheeses for toppings. We really like the suites here. They are spacious and have everything you'd need for a good stay. We usually stay in the double queen suite. It has a kitchen space, living room, large bathroom, and a bedroom with two queen size beds. The beds are pretty comfortable too. The bathroom is a decent size, offering a nice shower and big mirror. Our rooms have two tvs as well, which is convenient. We have never been unsatisfied with the rooms at Staybridge! Overall, this is a great hotel in Gainesville! The location is great and is near a lot of good eateries, shops, and grocery stores in the area. It isn't too close to campus, but it isn't far either. The staff has wonderful customer service and are accommodating. We really enjoy the outdoor space and the pool area as well. The rooms and hotel in general are kept very clean. The breakfast is always on point here and they have a great selection each morning. I really love this Staybridge and it is my family's go to spot when visiting me in Gainesville!
