Located right off I-75 and Archer Rd, this Hampton Inn is tucked back off the busyness of Archer so it's a pretty quiet stay. During various contact points with staff (calling prior, checking in/out, via text during stay) they were all professional, friendly, and eager to be helpful. We had a one bedroom suite which was very generous in size with a sofa bed and fridge/microwave. We didn't use housekeeping during our stay but a couple times we needed an item and it seemed as though there was a language barrier when trying to communicate with them. Complimentary breakfast is standard fare but enough variety for everyone to find something. Coffee was pretty not great though, opt for tea or Starbucks or DD down the road. Definitely add this to your Gainesville rotation or road trip rest stop if you're looking for a clean, friendly, safe location. read more

I've stayed at Hampton Inn Gainesville, 4225 SW 40th Blvd, for the past couple of months while traveling on business. As someone who travels the world frequently, being away from home and family can get tiring. This Hampton truly felt like a home away from home. What makes the difference is the people. Kathy and her team -- Xavier, Joseph, the kitchen staff, housekeeping, the engineer Ishwany, and everyone else -- run the place with such genuine warmth and care that it almost makes checking out difficult (in the best, humorous way). The hotel is also wonderfully located, close to great food options, shops, and malls, which makes longer stays very convenient. I leave with many good memories and real gratitude. Rooms are a little dated and need updated mattresses based on my room which is why I rated it a 4. Bathrooms and shower are sufficient for my tastes and expectations. I don't usually write reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared. I'm active-duty military and had a reservation at the Hampton Inn Gainesville for a work conference on May 6. On May 1, I had a sudden change of mission -- something that happens often in military life. I canceled my reservation through CWTSato, the official government travel agency we're required to use, and I received confirmation that the charges were zeroed out. Then I saw a no-show charge. I reached out to Hilton's Diamond customer service. They were only able to speak with the property--not connect me directly--and relayed a flat response: "No leniency will be given." I also emailed the hotel myself, with no reply at all. What frustrates me isn't just the charge -- it's the complete lack of accountability or care. I had no control over my mission change, and during that period, I didn't have the time or access to make personal calls or follow up beyond what the military provides. If I had five spare minutes, I would've called my kids, not a front desk. Hilton says it supports the military. But when a real-world, mission-driven situation happened, there was no flexibility, no understanding, and no effort to help. I followed the system. I did everything right. And still, I'm left paying the price -- not just financially, but in principle. If you're going to say you support the military, then act like it, don't rip us off. read more

I had an absolutely amazing experience during my stay at this hotel!! Great location near the campus, butler plaza area, and highway. Had a delicious free breakfast every morning, fun pool area, and spacious beautiful bedrooms. The staff as well were so friendly and attentive. I highly recommend staying here! read more

In 26 years of flying with the airlines, I've slept in over 4000 hotel rooms. By far, this was one of the worst. Room decor is dated, old, damaged, scratched and worn. Mattress had depressions from previous use. Sheets were wrinkled and worn. Bedspread was frayed and threadbare. Curtains did not close all the way and let in a lot of light. Planned to stay two nights but left after first. Motel level accommodation at high price. Hilton should be embarrassed. Not recommended. read more

My dad stayed here during my younger sister's graduation from UF. Due to the extremely high volume of guests, he barely even got a room. The lobby is very nice and they offer complimentary citrus infused water, coffee, tea and breakfast until 10am each morning. There is a very nice seating area by the entrance, but they do not have a hotel bar. The staff was extremely friendly and informative. I overheard a few nasty phone conversations from people complaining that their room rates had increased, there was no availability, etc. But the staff stayed professional. My dad's room was on the first floor, facing the parking lot and all they had left was a smoking room. It stunk. Reallllllllly bad. It was relatively clean, but I found tons of different kinds of bugs every time the door was open for 2 seconds. They were on the ceiling, in the bathroom, on the curtains, the rug, the chair. I hate bugs. There were also some termites hanging outside of the door. It's Florida and it's buggy....I get that. But I think they could use a visit from a pest control company. Especially during times when rooms are going for $400 per night. Just sayin read more

On the road traveling back to home. $200 for 2 people? Ouch. When we arrived there would be a $50 pet fee. No where on the website did they say it was $50. (We have a 15lbs Bichon). If you charge for pets you should declare WHAT the charge is) Went to our room and asked for plastic cups. We were dutifully informed that it's coffee cups and that's it. Really? Location of hotel is good. Restaurant choices very good. Check in staff was pleasant. Room clean and nice. Just don't like the lack of information and post Covid attitude: take it or leave it. Had a confirmed reservation for a room with a king bed. When I arrived, I was told that the room wasn't ready due to housekeeping being short-staffed. After waiting 20 minutes, I was offered a different room with two queen beds. There was no mention of a price increase. When checking out the next day, the rate was $50 more than I was quoted. I objected and was told that the increase was because I had changed the reservation. I made no change, simply accepted the room that I was offered. Appeals to the hotel owner and Hilton were rejected. I will certainly never stay at this Hampton Inn again and will consider non-Hilton properties more favorably in future travel plans. read more

Wasn't to sure about my room on the 1st floor having and outside access but I guess it worked out when one of my co-workers complained about the 3rd floor being loud from all the doors slamming... i didn't get this on the 1st floor. My room actually had a de-humidifier in the bathroom which was kind of odd and very loud when it automatically turned on at 2am waking me out of my sleep... i guess I should have read the sign stating i could turn it OFF at night while I slept. The staff was great! Thank you Ethan, Erica and all the others who took care of us. Sorry about all the FedEx boxes but thats how we travel for work. The room was surprisingly clean and updated compared to what the outside of the building looked like. I just wish they had more parking as it was shared with another hotel. And you have GOT to do something about the swamp/pond out front!!! It was kind of scary and really ruined the esthetics of the place. Breakfast was great, hot and with a decent selection. read more

I've been staying at this hotel for almost 10 years and have never seen this lack of service. Hallways were full of bottles, used underwear, garbage, and broken food. There were people loitering and heckling the entire front of the hotel making us feel unsafe. I told the front desk about an incident of two males heckling my daughter when we were walking in and the staff did not take any corrective action. Requested to have room cleaned throughout our stay and the story they gave us always changed - one thing that didn't change was the fact that they never cleaned the room. Super disappointed and will never stay here again. read more

Stayed here on a busy weekend in Gainesville. Room was nice and clean, and the breakfast was good. Front desk staff very friendly and accomodating. We had a pleasant stay. On a side note, this Hampton Inn has a different floor plan than any I have ever seen. There are even "motor lodge" type rooms that have exterior doors. Only down side -- parking was pretty tight when we came back late to a busy hotel. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. This place does not know how to run their own business. Got charged 4 times for one night stay. Got charged when I booked, charged an additional separate charge when I walked in, woke up the next morning to see ANOTHER charge, and then when we checked out they charged me again!!! They took hundreds of extra dollars out of my account and then had the nerve to say nobody can help you till Monday. How the hell does a hotel on a busy sold out weekend not have a manager on the premises!!! Who is training these people how to run the front desk??? That person needs to be fired!!! The hotel and room itself was fine, but in every way this horrible screw up and their lack of caring and action to resolve is unforgivable. I will be taking this to corporate level so they know how tarnished their reputation is from this establishment. read more

I always stay at this property when traveling through Gainesville for business in the surrounding area. It is very affordable (unless there is a college event going on with UF like the beginning of the school year, parents weekend, graduation, etc.). Moreover, it is tucked neatly away from the road so there's not much noise. Since it's in a college area, there is an endless supply of restaurants. All the rooms during my stays have been very fresh and clean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Very excellent property! read more

I would like to spend the next 45 minutes and share my experience on the evening of June 10, 2019 and morning of June 11, 2019. We were greeted warmly, checked in promptly and offered a cart for our luggage. Elevator up to the 2nd floor and there is no A/C in the hallway. Strike! We were later told the A/C was broken. Open the door and the room is cold and looks well made at first, but things quickly begin to unravel as we notice dust on light between the the beds. Strike! We go to open the bathroom door and a plastic cap and gown bag is on the floor. We were on a visit to tour the campus, certainly not ours. Strike! When we spoke to Megan the manager about the bag she told us she personally checked the room and insinuated that my wife was being less than truthful. Strike! At this point Megan has agreed to "comp us" the night and we just want to leave. My son goes upstairs the key does not work. We go up with new keys, they do not work. A worker sarcastically states we do not know how to use the keys & offers to escort us up. Strike! The blonde haired desk worker uses her master key and it does not work. Strike! She calls Edison who instead of bringing a real key brings his master key card and it obviously does not work. Strike! At this point we have been stuck outside the room, there is no A/C the staff think we do not know how to use a key and one could say I displaced my anger on Edison for not bringing a real key, my apologies. The elevator got stuck one time we were on it. Strike! I personally left the cap and gown bag with Megan and thanked her for the complimentary stay. To which she retorted "absolutely." The end? Or so we thought....On our drive to UCF we realize it is Megan who is being less than truthful and will not "comp us"our night. Get this she has the nerve to tell Hampton Inn corporate we turned down the complimentary stay according to the the super nice people at Hampton Inn Corporate trying to resolve this. We stayed the night before in a Tallahassee Hampton Inn and it was beautiful See attached pictures. read more

This Hampton Inn was great. Good location - right off of I-75 and in the middle of the Gainesville business district with plenty of restaurants, other hotels, and even Target, Walmart, and some drugstores nearby. Great service upon check-in and they even called up to the room about 20 minutes later to just make sure everything seemed satisfactory. Breakfast provided starting at 6am, coffee and tea all day, cookies at 7pm. We noticed the next morning how many cars there were in the parking lot that arrived during the night. The great thing is that if all of those cars/people did come into the hotel, we did not hear them in the middle of the night in the hallway or slamming doors. Free wi-fi internet. read more

Had a GREAT stay at this hotel while visiting Gainesville for the FL/FSU game. This hotel is conveniently located right off of Archer Rd just minutes from I-75. We checked in that morning and were thrilled to learn that there was a free shuttle service to and from the stadium! Perfect. We were planning to tailgate, so it was nice to have a safe ride to and from the stadium. After we returned from that unfortunate game, we were happy to have a nice, clean room to relax in. I have to say, the service at this hotel is phenomenal. The staff went above and beyond my expectations making sure we had beverages and snacks and were quick to recommend dining establishments close by. This hotel was amazing! My friend and I stayed her for the FL/FSU weekend. We got to the hotel early to park our car and take a cab to the game. When I went to the front desk to let them know I would be checking in later they suggested we take their free shuttle to the game and they would pick us up after (#awesome). They had coke zero promoters in the lobby and we got tons of free swag to take with us to the game. The service at this hotel is TOP NOTCH, when we came back to the hotel that evening (obviously after a long day) the front desk gave us a few extra waters and snacks and recommended near by restaurants that offered discounts for staying at the hotel. The room was spotless and every single employee went over and above to make sure our stay was perfect! I will stay here again! read more

No curtains in the room it's a shade but you have the parking light to look at all night as well as any cars or people coming and going.

Nothing out of the ordinary for a Hampton Inn. The staff was courteous and the room was clean. I noticed that even though I turned the AC on, it did not cool to the 72 or 68 degrees on the thermostat. I woke up really hot in the middle of the night which is really uncomfortable. Hopefully someone will look into that. read more

The recent renovations to this hotel are well done. I stayed at this same hotel about two years ago and it was not nearly the same feel. The interior is still a little dated but the rooms are fully upgraded and feel great. I have not had any issues with my stay here as of yet. read more

This Hotel Manager has no compassion, I was a guest there with my family during the Hurricane Irma emergency here in Fl. We brought our small dogs and were fined a $250 cleaning fee,for having the dogs in our room and she threatened to have the police remove us from the property if we did not remove the dogs from the hotel. I had to have my son drive back to Orlando with the dogs. Plus i will say that the front office staff on arrival were unfriendly and not up to the great customer service I have received from Hilton properties, it will be a longtime before i make a reservation at a Hampton Inn. read more

They even bag a breakfast for on the road if you're in a hurry. Best hotel in Gainesville, near 75 but feels secluded. And recently remodelled. Doesn't get any better. read more

We gave this HI a 5 star rating because it is does everything just right. They are truly friendly and went out if their way to handle our request for a additional chairs and luggage rack in our room. We were pleasantly surprized mgr followed up an hour later to make sure we got what we asked for. The bed was top class and the heating/cooling quiet & efficient. My wife appreciated the comp makeup remover kit Their free breakfast was fresh & tasty and the hostess just the nicest person. Spent two nights Mar 9th and 10th. The room we were assigned was on the 2nd floor away from the elevators, had every bathroom conduit pipe from the other 2 floors running through the wall next to the bed. We gave them the benefit of the dote and stayed the 2nd night, asked the room above not be sold so as we could get out sleep, but guess what, we draw the woman Ms More and Mr. Cometoquick which was amusing for a couple of minuets and then everyone flushed and took a shower. For this reason I give a -1 and do not recommend this Hampton location. VERY THIN WALLS. read more
