Stone Manor Boutique Inn

We just stayed at the Stone Manor Inn ("SMI") this past weekend and had a lovely time. We were in…read moretown for a family reunion and hosted a dinner party at SMI one evening that was among the highlights of the family weekend. Manisha and Prashsant, owners of Stone Manor Inn, were personally involved in making sure all went smoothly with our cocktail and dinner party, and it most certainly did! SMI is a lovely old country inn on 14 acres, I believe, with a number of different venues (indoors and out) for meetings, parties, and weddings. The rooms (7 in total) were eclectic, in a good way. All four of their largest rooms that we occupied were spacious, with king beds and spa tubs with separate showers. All were well maintained and clean upon check-in. We had no complaints. I'm not sure when we will return to the area, but when we do, we will not hesitate to return!

I was on the fence to book this place given its hefty price tag, and glad I went for it and completely agree with the glowing 5 star reviews. The bubbly host Manisha is very warm and welcoming. She cordially gave us a 20 min tour around the property, which was built in 1908, and even gave me a bonus tour of the other rooms afterwards. She kindly answered all of our questions and didn't rush us. The Peacecock Room is the most spacious and best room (aside from the bridal suite), elaborately decorated in peacocks. We loved it! The little touches like the handmade soap, a set of wine glasses, and a wine opener made the stay so memorable and special. While the rooms aren't temperature controlled, the electric flameless fireplace kept the room warm. The double capacity jacuzzi was perfect for my hubby and I and even had lights (some of the other rooms have smaller jacuzzi, so be sure to check). The rooms were clean minus a couple of lady bugs and stink bugs (which is too be expected out in the country). Dr. Fauci's assistant stayed here and Manisha informed us of the extensive sanitation process, even the pillows and decorations are quarantined for 6 days! The backyard is well groomed and really spacious with a nice patio and heat lamp, which kept us warm sitting outside in the frigid winter. Our dog loved running around! You can see the stars and constellations really well. It would make a great wedding venue! The Christmas decorations around the property are really nice. The owners really go the extra mile and put a lot of TLC into the property. The 6 course breakfast is delicious and bursting with flavor. Between the veggie quiche, cheesy potatoes, scone, pancakes, yogurt, and fresh OJ, I was stuffed! The fresh butterscotch scone was divine and devoured my mine and my hubby's! The cheesy potato had a nice spicy kick. Everything was so fresh and delicious. All the courses come out at once on a large tray. While my hubby and I chose to sit at the communal table (the chairs are roughly 6 feet apart), you can take the tray up to your room. Manisha and her family greeted us and thoroughly explained the dishes and chatted with us for a bit, even her son made an appearance! The bed and breakfast has a nice bar with wine, cider, and alcohol based on an honor code system. Water and soda is complementary, they even had Coke 0! The complementary fudgy brownies by the breakfast area during the day were sweet and tasty. Again the little complimentary stuff gives this bed and breakfast a nice resort feel. Very relaxing stay and looking forward to coming back!

Spacious room. Two TVs were great, the room had some broken items but maintenance was quick to pick up and fix, and the staff at the desk tried to help provide supplies and make sure we were ok with the room; almost always easy to get in touch with them. Close walk to the restaurants nearby - the whole area has been built up, lots of data centers. No restaurant from what I could tell? A little pricer than the Homewood Suites next door.

Manager reception with very basic snacks and bottom of the well drinks. Cons: No lighting in the parking lot, making it incredibly unsafe, especially when random people are walking around in the lot. The room I was in had a light switch hanging unsecured out of the wall that will eventually really badly hurt someone or start a fire. Half of the lights in the room were burned out, making it tough to get around. The walls are paper thin, so I got to hear every word the people next to me said...all flippin' night. No basic Diamond perks like a bottle of water. Parking is $12 despite not being near anything, so the fee is purely a superfluous surcharge.

I don't think I've been to a hotel in a long time where I noticed that the staff care so much. Note that this is a Residence Inn and not some luxury hotel brand in the Marriott fleet. They had some long-term or very frequent guests who are known by the staff and were greeted accordingly when they came into the hotel or arrived at breakfast. Being my first time didn't keep the friendly staff from asking how I was, where I was visiting from, and whether I needed anything. The breakfast was good and convenient for the location -- the complex that this hotel sits in has surprisingly limited food options and I was using rideshares to get anywhere on this trip. The staff at the breakfast were constantly monitoring the area and making sure dishes were cleared and food was available. The elevators worked, my room was clean and quiet and I couldn't ask for much more. While I probably wouldn't go outside to run in the area -- too much traffic and parking lot -- there is a gym at the hotel open 24 hours. (They also have a putting green...)

The staff was polite and helpful, the rooms and common areas were clean, and the location is very convenient with stores and restaurants nearby. Breakfast is okay, but very limited. You can definitely find something to eat, but don't expect much variety, especially if you stay longer than a few days. The biggest issue was the kitchen equipment. The room includes cookware, but the frying pans, pots, and utensils are extremely low quality. I cook almost every day and I have honestly never had food burn this badly in my life, even while cooking with oil and being careful. I eventually had to go buy my own frying pan just to survive the stay. Attached photo of the pan speaks for itself. Other than that, the hotel is quiet, comfortable enough, and works well if you mainly need a clean place in a good location.

Tru by Hilton Ashburn Proves "Select Service" Can Outshine Full-Service Luxury…read moreI spent this past weekend staying at two different Hilton properties while hitting Diamond Status, and the Tru by Hilton Ashburn absolutely stole the show. While some full-scale Hiltons (like the Christiana) have shifted toward constant "nickel and diming" and hidden fees, this Tru property remains a masterclass in hospitality. From the moment we arrived, the service was seamless. A huge thank you to the General Manager, Front Office Manager, and the entire front desk team--the culture of excellence here is obvious. Unlike other properties where you feel like a transaction, the staff here treated us with genuine warmth. We were even surprised with a thoughtful basket of goodies, a gesture that many "premium" hotels have abandoned. Why this property wins: Zero Nickel and Diming: No hidden parking fees or petty charges for arriving slightly early. They actually value your loyalty. Top-Tier Staff: Every interaction with the FOM and front desk was professional and welcoming. Prime Location: Perfectly situated and incredibly convenient. Consistency: Regardless of your status, they treat every guest with respect and high-level service. If you're choosing between a "full-scale" Hilton and this Tru, choose the Tru. The leadership here has created a service-first environment that puts legacy hotels to shame. We will be back!

From the moment you walk in, the warm lighting and calm, elegant setting create a true retreat feeling--relaxing, intimate, and perfectly set up for an unforgettable dinner. We started with the baked brie, and it was the perfect opener. Warm, creamy, and beautifully rich, it had that comforting, indulgent feel without being too heavy. It was the kind of appetizer that makes you pause after the first bite and think, "Okay, this is going to be special." We also shared a salad that was far better than any "starter salad" has a right to be. The greens were crisp and fresh, but the real surprise was the croutons--light, buttery, and so tender they practically melted in your mouth. Every bite felt balanced, simple in the best way, and clearly made with care. For the main course, we ordered the chicken under brick and the scallops risotto, and both were genuinely memorable. The chicken under brick had a beautifully crisp exterior, with juicy, tender meat underneath--full of flavor and cooked exactly right. The scallops were seared perfectly, with that delicate golden crust and soft, buttery center. Paired with the creamy risotto, it felt luxurious and comforting at the same time. It was the kind of dish you keep talking about afterward because it is that good. Dessert somehow raised the bar even more. The chocolate tart was rich, smooth, and deeply satisfying--pure indulgence. The fruit tart was fresh, bright, and perfectly balanced, with a delicate crust and vibrant flavors that made it feel light and refreshing after such an incredible meal. Both desserts were truly delicious and the perfect ending. The service matched the food and atmosphere: welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. Every interaction made the night feel even more special, and it never felt rushed--just warm and thoughtful from start to finish. And a special mention to our waitress, Rae--the most pleasant, kind, accommodating, and positive soul you can find. Her smiling welcome immediately put us at ease and made us feel so happy to be there. She truly elevated the entire experience. If I can give this place seven stars, I would!
