I was referred to Home Veterinary services by a friend that has been using Dr. Drodz for the past 20yrs. Dr. Drodz comes highly recommended, but I wouldn't know because I never made it past her office staff. My Feral rescue cat had been showing signs of a possible UTI. I expressed to the receptionist that my cat was A feral rescue that could not be put in a carrier as of yet. I was looking for a product called kit4cat or nosorb, so I could collect a urine sample. Before I could finish my sentence, the receptionist cut me off and told be the Doctor would not see my cat without a previous medical history with Home Veterinary Services. I understand the importance of this policy. I was able to purchase nosorb from their pharmacy. The staff at the pharmacy was wonderful! I retrieved my cats medical history from the hospital/rescue I got her. She is not even 2 yet, so her medical history is only her Spaying and shots information. I returned to Home Veterinary Services with her records and inquired about a Home visit from the vet. This time, there was another receptionist at the desk. I was hopeful that I would has a better experience with her. Sadly, it wasn't better. It was worse. I explained again that my cat was feral, unable to be touched at this point, and experiencing signs of a UTI. She gave me an appointment for June 1st. It was May 12th. I expressed my concerns of waiting until June 1st to treat a UTI in a cat. She said I wouldn't wait either. She then told me to take the day to Red Bank Animal Hospital. The Cat can not go in a carrier yet!!!!! I have stated this several times. The office staff is horrible!!!! I told her I would keep the June 1st appointment to start her medical history there. I asked if the doctor could prescribe a small sedative before seeing my cat so I could bring her in before June 1st. Before I could finish my concern, I was cut off mid sentence by the receptionist. They may be fantastic Doctor's and Technicians but if you can't make it past the Receptionists. It's not worth the headache. I collected a sample and drove 40min to her previous Vet. We started using this vet so our VERY afraid dog would be able to be seen at home, and since we also had two cats, this seemed a great option for us. When we made our 1st home "well" appointment it was for a date 5 weeks out. They were all well so...no problem. Dr. Drodz came over and was amazing. Sat right on the floor and examined and played with all three of them. Addressed any concerns I had, gave them shots and prescribed a few things. We had to go to the office for the basic prescriptions to be picked up the next day. That was basically the end of the "home" portion of our experience. If your animal has any type of issue the wait to be seen at home will be far too long to wait for a home appointment. I thought about changing vets at this point but with the records exchange to a new vet and how nice Dr. Drodz is... we stayed. Over the years, our experiences with Dr. Drodz have been perfect. She is a kind and wonderful vet. We have been referred to specialists a few times and she has been right to send us each time. She is truly meant to be a vet. This is a tough one. I settled on 3 stars because sometimes it's a 5 and sometimes it's a one. Here are some of the cons: One other vet, I really never even got her name, is flat out mean. It's not that she's not competent, she is. Her examinations seemed complete. I've seen her twice. Once with my new dogs and once with my cat and she makes you feel like you're annoying her. On one occasion, we had been to the ER with my cat on Sunday night because she wasn't really moving. Got her IV fluids and blood and urine tests. She was given antibiotics and prescription for for kidney disease. We were given IV to take home and administer ourselves under the skin every 2 days for 2 weeks. We did it once and decided that we would have our vet do it until the end of the 2 week period and then have her blood and urine retested, like instructed by the ER. On our first appointment we brought the IV and this vet came in the room, looked at our cat and said we were making her suffer and she should be put down. That she didn't know why she was prescribed this treatment but she was dying and we were prolonging her suffering. It was just shocking how mean she seemed. We did just what she said but a year later, I'm still amazed at how mean she was. More recently, when my dogs had skin yeast problems I asked the same vet about preventing them in the future. She acted like this was an absurd question. Actually rolled her eyes. Oh no you didn't! I'm always friendly and polite, but I really wanted to go all Jersey on her ass. I mean... if you want to have an attitude, you've met your match in me. But for the sake of any future emergencies, when Dr. Drodz might be unavailable, I've held my tongue...so far. read more

One of many reasons I left, fill in Veterinarians. Vet techs so young with little experience in my opinion. And one fill in vet Dr R (female) who was not professional, made me feel guilty that I was a nervous pet parent and actually told me she wasn't great at getting blood. Dr D was my go to Vet but when she was off good luck at who you got. I miss some front desk employees but not the chaos. I am down to one animal. And use a new compassionate practice. They listen dont lecture. They teach dont preach. And have kind hearts. read more

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE veterinary service. The vets got their certifications from a cereal box; they have no idea what they're talking about and it shows. I took my puppy in for them to check out his ear, instead they look at the scars he got from his mother when he was a baby and interrogated me on them as if somehow I was at fault when we bought and BROUGHT HIM to the vet when he already had those scars months prior. They proceed to tell me nothing is wrong with his ear and charge me 100+ dollars. Then a week or two later, my poor puppy is starting to bleed from his fucking ears!! And despite the fact that they told me there was nothing wrong with his ears, I even called the office after the fact to ask for ear drops just in case and they REFUSED! Meanwhile, something WAS wrong with his ear and now I have to book another appointment to get them to check it out. These guys are HORRIBLE and won't give you any important information, even if it's relevant. Changing to a new vet soon. read more

I have had Dr. Beverly Drzod as my pets' veterinarian for over THIRTY years and I highly recommend her and Home Veterinary Service for all pets and their owners. I have always enjoyed the expertise of ALL the veterinarians at Home Veterinary Service and so have all of my cats, chinchillas and dogs. I have always received excellent care for my pets and they have enjoyed long and healthy lives in large part due to their excellent veterinary care. I feel comfortable putting my total trust in the high level of competence of everyone at Home Veterinary Service. The staff has also been helpful and kind, and whenever I have had an emergency, they have managed to fit my pet into their schedule so that my pet could be seen that day. I have been a client of Home Veterinary Service for 20 years. Dr. Drozd is the absolute best. She is so knowledgeable and compassionate. I have 3 cats and a dog so my visits are frequent and I have been very happy with every service performed. Dr. Sinko and Dr. Bruce are also very good vets and I have been pleased with their services as well. Sometimes the front desk people are a bit short or not the most social, but they are efficient and that is all I need. The girls in the Pharmacy as well as where you pay are just lovely. read more

Great doctors, trash scheduling department. Not sure what happened to this place. Used to be in and out in no time. We called ahead to make an appointment and they told us to come in at 8pm. I get there, and we wait and hour and a half before we even get called into the room! One person even went before us who had an 8:30pm appointment. Doctor Drodz is very very good, but the scheduling staff need to get their shit together. It's an inconvenience to everyone to tell someone to come at a certain time and just have 0 regard for anyone's personal life and how making someone wait 2 hours for a routine visit is just plain rude. I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. My dog was treated with such kindness and love in a very unfortunate situation. I was so nervous and worried, hesitant to even go through with the procedure but the vets and staff were so reassuring that everything would be ok, that I want to tell everyone to take their pets here. This is a very hard review to write considering that this was my vet of choice for so many years. In May 2015, I brought my dog in for an eye infection. A friend came over and went to pet my dog and my dog jumped up into her finger nail. Simple mistake that anyone would've made. I bring the dog into the vet and Dr. Droze informs me that that is the reason that my dog has an infection in her eye and that unfortunately she will probably be blind in one eye and gives me medication anyway. She also informed me that my dog needs to lose a little weight, and tells me to put her on a vegetable diet. Two years later, and my dog is fine. Yes she is blind in one eye but she's great. She has gone in for a regular check ups and now we are great. In April 2017 I bring her in to get a lump checked out. She informed me that my dog has not gotten a vaccine since 2008 and says how dare you and tries to insinuate I'm a bad dog owner. My dog has been there hundreds of times since 2008, for check ups and simple things. Why tell me now? Covering up for your mistake? Then, Dr. Droze says again my dog needs to lose a little weight. I say oh she's been eating some vegetables like you said and she said "I never said that that's not good nutrition for dogs." What?! THEN. Dr. Droze informs me that my dog is blind because of age and not because of my friend accidentally poking her in the eye. Can this doctor get anything right?! After 10 years of going to this vet, I have canceled all my services and I will be taking my dog somewhere else. Please do not waste your time or money going to this establishment, they are rude disrespectful and they honestly do not know what they're talking about. read more

Do not waste your time calling MIDDLETOWN HOME VET in Belford. They treat people on the phone like they are less than dirt, especially if they have been loyal customers for the past 20 years! They actually HUNG UP ON MY MOTHER because she politely "questioned" them Couldn't squeeze in our dog for a 20 minute apt. over a 5 day period. Mind you they are open until 8:00pm at night. Customer Service has gone down BIG TIME at Middletown Home Vet. They even came to our house once to put down one of our dogs This place is certainly not what it used to be...Made an apt. with another vet minutes after being thrown away by MIDDLETOWN VET. We have been coming to Home Vet for about 15 years. During that time we have had puppies, cats and older fussy dogs. Our chihuahuas went through their later lives with Dr. Drodz and were lucky to have such a kind and compassionate vet. The male developed a heart condition and Dr. D sent him to an incredible specialist and he lived for 3 years after the diagnosis. Dr. D is honest and tells you what is best for the animal and will share what she would do in your situation. Their prices are fair and I have been seen for emergencies and have always been treated well by the office staff. The vet techs are young but know their jobs and have been great with small veins, cranky pets, terrified cats, and stressed pet parents. I'm sure I couldn't find a better vet. read more

I have been using HomeVet for many years, with multiple pets. Dr. Drozd has always been very thorough, honest and knowledgeable. Her experience shows and I never feel rushed. They are also the only vet around I don't dread about misdiagnosing or charging me astronomical fees. All of their prices have always been very fair. I like that their pharmacy is right in the same location as well. When my Elli girl had an uncommon eye issue in 2017, Dr. Drozd had referred me to an eye Specialist. She will not "gamble" with your pets health or just try random treatments if she has any suspicion or doubts. This I truly appreciated and trust her with. I was impressed tonight that even though they're hours are til 8:00pm, They scheduled me an 8:15 appointment when I called around 4:00pm worried that she was holding one eye closed. I couldn't believe the dedication to still be there late after closing hours, taking on more patients that were in need. I saw at least 2 other dog patients come in after me! Mind you, they're a Vet, not an animal Hospital, Now that's rare! read more

We have been bringing our pets to HomeVet for several years. I am quite disappointed in the way they treat their clients. My dog was there twice in two months for routine shots and I called up to ask if they could give him the kennel shot because I wanted to take him to doggie day care. Dr. Drozd who is the owner said they would have to charge me again for another exam which I find out of place. He was there for shots and an exam in the months of August and September. I find this totally out of line and I have decided to find another vet. I am totally annoyed about this type of behavior. This is no way to treat a long term loyal client. read more

This place is HORRIBLE!! Avoid at all costs! So many other great and caring vets out there. The office staff is so rude. The woman who answers the phone talks to everyone like they are stupid and she knows everything. I guess she forgot she's sitting behind a desk and not a doctor in a room. She was abusive to me and would not tell me how my dog was doing post-op. Dr. Drodz also did not do something that was medically necessary as another vet already said it was because she was too lazy to do it! Disgusting!! She does not care about your pets and she does not care about you as a concerned pet parent. She literally only cares about money!! This office makes me sick. This is why I stopped going there years ago and will NEVER go again!!! I am my dogs owner, I pay for everything with my dogs and I have a right to know everything about my dogs care. Dr. Drodz thinks it's appropriate to tell everyone but me about how MY dog is doing! I went to this place for a second opinion on my cat. I had previously went to Atlantic Highlands Animal Hospital, which I have written a review on them as well and it's not good. I had a 2:30 appointment and wasn't seen until 3:20. My cat was clawing at her mouth, she had 6 teeth removed from Atlantic Highlands Vet. OK Great. But the clawing at the mouth continued and I was getting no where with Atlantic Highlands, They were adamant that it was all in her head and/or seizures, I wanted them to do x-rays on her, but something was going on there, and I was dismissed. So now I'm at Home Vet services. They had a copy of Atlantic Highlands records and came to the same conclusion. And went even further, saying that something was wrong with her brain. They put her on Phenobarbital. Which didn't help. The only thing that Home vet did that was good, was to give me the idea to video her doing it, which I did. I brought that video to a 3rd. vet, Shoreside Veterinary located in Highlands. They inspected her mouth and saw that she still had a fractured tooth and that she had a lump on her lower jaw. They did X-rays and what they saw was a cancerous tumor on her lower jaw. After a month of frustration ,3 vets and pain/frustration for my cat. I had to have her put down, due to the survival odds. Don't bother with this place, they are as cold as ice. read more
