I am on my third renewal of the Gold membership with Home-Tech, and I can say, based on my experience, that the level of service from the first contract to today has declined. I contacted Home-Tech on February 11th, 2026, and was scheduled for a microwave repair on February 12th, 2026. I thought it was a great next-day appointment, but it ended there. The technician, Bryan, arrived on time on February 12th, but obviously had very basic and minimal experience with microwaves. Bryan by himself removed the microwave over my range, and when he got it over the floor, it slipped out of his hands and crashed on the tile floor. I was not home at that time as my son was home and advised me of this. The microwave received damage to the bottom and sides from the drop, but honestly, it didn't bother me, as the unit was near the end of its life, and I figured I would take the credit in lieu of repair and apply it to a new microwave, as I did with my dishwasher with Home-Tech. Bryan called me at the end of the service call and advised me that all his tests checked out, but the unit still needed further diagnosis from a more experienced tech. Bryan never mentioned to me at that time that the microwave had been dropped. The next day, February 13th, Home-Tech came out again, this time with two technicians per Home-Tech's policy, and checked the microwave again. The technician called me to advise his findings and stated that the magnetron, door switch, and main fuse needed to be ordered to perform the repair. This technician advised me that he attempted to straighten the damage on the bottom and right side and acknowledged that Bryan had dropped the unit, as noted in the repair notes. On February 18th, Bryan returned to my home, taking the microwave down a third time to install the parts ordered by the other technician. After Bryan installed the parts, the microwave turned on for a second and immediately blew the unit's main fuse. Bryan advised me they would need to take my microwave to their shop to properly diagnose which they did on February 19th. On February 24th I received this response from Chuck at Home-Tech: Charles Williams Feb 24, 2026, 1:24PM (6 days ago) to me Mr. the panels were not installed properly we installed them and they are fine. The reason we are not covering the microwave is the cost of the repair. At 12yrs old the microwave does not have that kind of value left in it. The microwave new was only about 300 so it does not make sense to install over 400 in parts and labor. Chuck My response to Chuck: Feb 24, 2026, 12:41PM (6 days ago) to cwilliams My microwave was dropped and damaged beyond repair by the first Home Tech technician when he took it off the wall by himself. See the attached pictures of the damaged unit he reinstalled. I want nothing less than a like in kind microwave at no expense to me as my microwave was repairable prior to being dropped on my kitchen floor on camera. To say my repair is not covered is unfair. Chuck's response to me: Feb 24, 2026, 12:32PM (6 days ago) to me Hi Mr. I am emailing you regarding the microwave. You have a GE microwave that needs over 500 in repairs. Due to the current value left in your microwave, this repair will exceed the value of the appliance. I am sorry but this repair will not be covered. I can have a sales rep contact you with pricing for new. Thanks Chuck Not only did Home-Tech not cover any portion of my repair or provide me a credit to purchase another unit from them, but Home-Tech also took zero responsibility for their technician dropping my microwave on the floor. This was a $300 GE builder-grade microwave, nothing fancy. Home-Tech made 4 service calls for this repair (well over $300 in travel time alone), ultimately taking my microwave and leaving me with literally nothing. This situation could have been handled so much better, but Home-Tech opted to take the easy route and say it was not covered and dropped it. I dropped the plumbing portion of my last contract renewal because Home-Tech's accepted practice for plumbing repairs on PEX tubing is to use SharkBite connections, which, in my opinion, are homeowner-grade repairs and not what you'd expect from a licensed plumber. The annual A/C service/cleaning is honestly a joke. The outside unit is not touched or cleaned, the capacitors are not tested to verify if they are still within useful range, which prevents failure at the worst time and temperature. Save your money and use licensed local contractors for repairs. Sorry for the long review but I wanted to state facts to help you make an informed decision before paying this company one year in advance for this level of service. Hope this helps. read more

I contacted this establishment because my refrigerator stopped working and I was determined to get it fixed that day. The technician informed me that I needed a new board, but the office was closed and he couldn't get anyone on the phone to even see about getting the part (at 4pm). As we were talking, he also mentioned that I would be charged even more money if he went over the first 30 minutes (even though he took a bathroom break and spent time on the phone). He said he would do me a favor and quickly put the refrigerator back together before leaving. I ended up paying nearly $200 to find out that they cannot help me, don't have the part, and I ended up buying a new refrigerator. I understand that miracles cannot happen, but I just got a "can't do" impression of this company. We are in a new home (3 years old) and have had Home Tech out to fix one of our a/c units multiple (6+) times. Today will be their 3rd service call in one month. Per their tech each time it's either slime in the drain line, air flow or dirty filters. Whatever the cause(s) is,they have not been able to fix it. On top of this I've left two messages with management and have not received a return phone call. I'm extremely disappointed with their service. I've had a contract with HT for years and never experienced this unacceptable level of service before. read more

We have a new home warranty contract through HomeTech, and we are so glad that we have it! Our washer recently stopped working, so we called HomeTech, and Matt came out to take a look and ended up having to order a bunch of parts for the repair. The parts would only be a few days, which is good considering the current world we live in. The next day, Tim from the appliance sales division called and offered us a good sum of money towards a new washer if we wanted to forego the repair. We decided to take them up on the offer and we got money towards a new washer and dryer, delivered and fully installed with new hardware. When I woke up my thermostat was blank and I couldn't believe it. I had a feeling something was wrong earlier today, when the temperature rose about 2 degrees and the humidity to 72%. But then everything went back to normal. So I called Home Tech! I have a contract with them for the last few years. They promptly sent somebody over within 2 hours! It seems that the drain backed up even though we recently had the unit serviced and cleaned. The gentleman quickly fixed the problem and let us know that there was a lot of slime in the drain. This is the best company that I have dealt with since I moved to Florida in 1975! Our appliances aren't that old, but we had service calls for the dishwasher and washer too. First, let me say I have always had a high opinion of Hometech. Their technicians, whether it be HVAC or appliances have usually been very good. With that being said, I recently had them bid a new HVAC system and am thoroughly upset and disappointed. The salesman who came out seemed like all he wanted to do was scare me to death telling me my system was on its final legs, and if I didn't do something immediately, it was basically going to implode. The questions I asked a number of questions which were based on my research, other bids and my daughter's load study as she is a mechanical engineer. I was told that I didn't know what I was talking about. I freely except I am not a genius nor an expert in HVAC. His condescending manner was very offputting and I was offended with his comments. Finally and I think what upsets me the most is I have now received four quotes. Hometech is $11,000 higher than the highest quote I've received. I was told that he was recommending Trane because Hometech is the only Trane distributor in the area. I asked about Cattier and he said he would not bid Carrier as they were even more expensive and two of the three other bids I have are for Carrier products. I am convinced the salesman only was trying to pad his numbers to increase his income. I am so mad at this point. I'm considering canceling Hometech because I think this is deceptive practices when the salesman also told me since I was a good customer he gave me a 15% decrease. That 15% decrease should've amounted to more $4500 on a what he bid as a $31,000 system. read more

For the last two years I've had a service contract with Home-Tech. I was lucky and had no problems with my appliances. I did have to remind them to come out and check my A/C as per the contract. In January my hot water heater died and I had them replace it. I thought the price of $1,654 was high for a small hot water heater but was assured it was worth it. When the technician removed the old heater it leaked rusty fluids on my outside cement walkway, staining it. The technician tried to spray the area but it didn't help. I have called the company three times this week, starting on Monday, asking for the general manager Ryan. He finally returned my call today (Thursday). In January they did come out but were unable to correct the problem. Ryan explained that one of the staff had been told to call me and I answered that I had asked for him to return my calls, not an employee. I was also put on hold twice and had my call dropped after holding for over three minutes. Long story short Home-Tech's customer service is poor, starting at the top. A short summary Ther service is acceptable, but they overcharged me on a large sales order, played game promising a refund that never came, then billed my credit card without authorization on an order they never invoiced on. Beginning over six months ago, Home-Tech over-billed me close to $2,000, and despite constant promises they have not refunded any of it. (the issue has varied over time: beginning with over-billing around $850, that grew with changes in the items delivered and returned.) They frequently promise a refund (promised again last week), but then change their minds offering a litany of excuses, often reusing ones already resolved. They only offer theses excuses after I again ask. Each time they change their argument and laugh about the situation. So, bottom line is: they overcharged me an amount that started around $850, rose to $2,000 and may have settled around $1,000, and they evade all my attempts to get any of it back. Their key player is Timothy VanMeter (Appliance Sales Manager (239-433-3344 X242). As for requested resolution, last week their billing department promised to return around $1,000. If they come through, I will accept that as "close enough." Since they have reneged before, I am asking that they stick to the promise this time. The had also said the Company CEO, would call to hear my full complaint. I still desire this, That is the short summary, they made the whole story quite complicated as part of their smokescreen. Here is a fuller story: The amounts and timing are complex, as are their list of excuses, but the total issue is simple. They over-billed me and made no attempt to refund any of it. Full Story: Home-tech gave me a proposal totaling $5,813.84 I rejected one refrigerator for around $-845.00 so they were to deliver $4,968.84 They delivered the reduced order and charged my credit card for the full $5,813.84. And - they did not send me any actual invoice. Only after months seeking an actual invoice did I discover I was overcharged. Mr. VanMeter resisted my request for an invoice, saying he, himself, lacked the records. While all this was going on, the matter became confused by three other issues: 1) I ordered and received a refrigerator for my garage - Again no invoice, - but a proposal of 834.96 - and credit card charge of 805.82 2) Up until last week there was no question surrounding this item. However, Mr. VanMeter now says this charge & proposal are not linked. He says the charge was a different matter. Again, there was never any invoice to me of the other matter. And, since I was never invoiced, I did not authorize their use of my credit card on this item. But I am currently willing to accept these changed facts. 3) home-tech appeared unable to install the Microwave. - Either they really could not or really did not try - Either way, they agreed to take that item back and credit it, So, at that point our refund due was the original $ 845.00 Plus the Microwave $1,027.00 $1,872.00 And, after many pushes I received this email from Mr. Van Meter. "I am putting in your refund to accounting today of $1968.12 and next week we will pick up the microwave in the garage. Thank you and sorry about the headache." It, of course, never came. Last week their billing department promised to mail me the $1,027.00 for the microwave. I said I would accept. I do not expect that to happen. read more

Actually I give the 0 stars, worst service ever. Not only did they not fix the problem but they made the situation worse. I have a GE Monogram built in refrigerator, I called GE Appliance Services, who apparently subcontracted out to Home Tech (I've already lodged a complaint on GE Appliance Repair). Whomever they sent didn't know anything had to call his supervisor for recommendations on finding the issue, supposedly GE Appliance Services only uses GE trained technicians- hah not at all trained. After he said he was going to take the entire refrigerator and freezer apart we said stop. We paid over $200 and now our refrigerator which was working is not. But currently, they send new, untrained techs, they order parts, but forget to call the customer to tell them it's in, they get really nasty with horrible abusive phone manners, they change your appointment time without agreement from you and if you're not there - oh well. They break your appliance and say they will call to resolve the issue, but don't. You can not bypass their nastiness by making the appointment on line because their website is always down. Our Kitchenaid dishwasher hasn't been drying dishes for the past month. The red light comes on when the heat cycle comes on. Three different techs have been out and all diagnosed different issues. The second one stood in my Kitchen and yelled at me (Osvaldo). Another nice young man came out today and took apart the dishwasher. He said that the problem is that the model of Kitchenaid I have doesn't have a fan drying feature despite having a heat dry option. This seemed odd to me since the machine dried before. I immediately called Kitchenaid and they confirmed that the model of Kitchenaid I own does have the heat dry fan that runs on the heat dry option. This is disturbing to me that Home-Tech is either supportive of techs that save them money or they hire techs that are not knowledgeable. Btw, this isn't the first tech I have had out oin the past year that was rude. I am disappointed to say that I will not be renewing my contract after being a long-time customer. read more

Tim, the service representative was unprofessional and implied I lied. I felt he was rude and takes advantage of women. Their repair people came out several times, tipped each $20.00 (a total $80-$100), actual installer Eduardo excellent. But they didn't have cloths to protect granite counter, or shoe covers. My towels needed. Home-Tech said it would cost more to replace the burner than get a new cooktop, so after 2 ph. calls it was ordered. But apparently Tim forgot to order the already paid-for $2,000+ induction cooktop. 10 days later I notified him. He then did order it. Meanwhile, no cook-top & another weeks' delay. Incorrect electric cooktop delivered! And installed. Tim said he got a number wrong but installers had already left. Promised correct item would be D & I. 4 days later on Friday. It wasn't. Said new one would be installed Monday. It was; with a total of 21 days for a readily available GE induction cooktop. I asked at least for the tips to be reimbursed for the incorrect visits and for my inconvenience. He reply? "Don't tip them." Their initial visit was a pricy $175. Our homeowner's association has a service contract with Home-Tech to cover the two air conditioners in our clubhouse. One of the A/C units that was installed in 2016 has failed. They say parts are not available for the repair and refuse to honor the service contract. Instead, they want over $4000 to replace the entire unit. They charged $285 and 6 months later, when called again for the same problem, they said my credit card was declined in October so they needed to double charge in order to fix it. NOT!!! HomeTech replaced our evaporator coil in Sept 2021. Worked fine until early May 2022. They have had 5 different technicians out over the last 5 weeks. Each has diagnosed a different problem, each pointing back to the system being overcharged by 5lbs of Freon when the coil was replaced. They quoted a price for repairs that would cover the parts under warranty but not the labor. The labor that they did. We got a second opinion from another provider who agreed that not only did the overcharge lead to the failures but also that the freon installed during the coil replacement was contaminated. Their quote to do the work HomeTech recommended was $300 less. Their quote to do the repairs that they thought were needed was roughly the same price. 5 technicians, 5 misdiagnosis in 4 weeks. Each pointing back to the previous technicians incompetence... "he should have done this".... "Not sure how he missed that".... Don't bother talking to Chuck Williams, Ryan, or Tom Rode. None are willing to provide any customer support or come to a reasonable agreement. EG... when we requested Ryan provide us with our service history file it was not delivered in the time he indicated and, when I followed up, his justification was that the person responsible for fulfilling such requests was out of office, had no back up, it would take another week and, while he had the systemic access to the records, he was "not going to do it." Further, Ryan was also unwilling to price match for the work HomeTech said was needed to repair the damage that they caused. Do NOT do business with HomeTech. I bought my ac system from Home tech and had a service policy for 7 years. Coverage was fine while the appliances were young and did not need service. A few months ago, i needed service ( a control board) on a stove bought in 2012 and I was told that the stove sold to me by home depot in 2012 was actually an earlier 2003 model ( news to me) and i needed to buy a new stove or if i found and bought the needed control board part online- they would install it. . When i needed a new toilet, their price was much higher than buying it elsewhere . Latest is that we had an electrical emergency on a friday afternoon. I then realized the fine print of my more recently added electrical warranty covered only routine electrical. Nobody was available to immediately help me. Their attitude when speaking to me was very poor. ( fortunately Mabry Brothers more than came through!) Last straw is now after I have asked to cancel- I got a snippy email saying that cancellation refund ( which is amt paid minus time elapsed in contract, less amt they expended) takes at least 30 days. At least 30 days. Irritating. At the very least, read the fine print. Be sure your warranty parts coverage you pay for applies to the appliance's age. You could be paying for non covered needs. read more

I needed the evaporator coil in my 3 year old A/C unit replaced. The part was covered under warranty but the labor was my responsibility. They did a nice job on the repair but their labor costs were totally unreasonable. They charged me $1000 for 3 hours of labor and maybe $50 worth of material. Later, after checking around, I find that that job should cost between $600 and $700. Their prices are totally outrageous. Oh, and don't fall for their "first call's on us" advertisement. We received a home tech warranty as part of our home purchase at closing. A couple of months after the closing our air conditioner stopped working. We called Home Tech, who diagnosed the problem as old age and said the unit needed to be replaced. I asked what was wrong with it and why it could not be fixed, and was told that it was just old and past it's useful life. At this point all the tech had done was pretty much flipped the breaker on the air conditioner and turned the thermostat on and off. My house was at 90 degrees and home tech told me the air conditioner was working properly for a unit that old. It had been cooling my house to 76 the a couple days before. I called another company to come out for a second opinion and they told me the fan motor needed replaced. I called home tech to let them know what was actually wrong with it. Home tech finally agreed to replace the fan motor, and my air conditioner has worked fine since. Home tech then contacted the person who purchased the home warranty for us to complain about how much it had cost them to fix the air conditioner. Now that I am ready to replace the air conditioner, because yes, it is old, loud, and inefficient (yet still working properly with a replaced fan motor) I will not be calling home tech. read more

Called them about a U-line under counter refrigerator. The Tech was supposed to be here between 12-2pm. Never received a call when he did not show up. I called them and was told he was running a little late. He "should be here within the hour." He did not show up within the hour. No further notice was provided to me. The Tech didn't arrive until 4:30 pm. Then said he needed a part. I paid their full fee - even though it should have been reduced because he was HOURS late and then only here for 10 minutes. Got an email 3 days after that saying the part was no longer available so it could not be fixed. Today I got a call from the company to ask if I had received the email. He said part unavailability happens a lot with U-line. I asked him why they didn't tell me that about U-line when I made the appointment - since they obviously know there are issues? They charged me $169 for making me wait HOURS and then the guy was here less than 10 minutes and then they couldn't do anything to fix the problem. At the end of the call he asked if he should have a salesman a call me about buying a new one! OMG! How obnoxiously crazy is that. Have bought the "Gold Service" agreement for the last 2 years. We only did it because we knew our A/C unit was old and was told that this Gold plan (for $550) would get us emergency service and cover repairs or at least company discounts on replacement unit. Our A/C did go out. A service guy came the next day after we called. He said he tried to fix it but couldn't. He left and said someone will be calling right away to set up a time to replace it. No one called, so we had to call 3 hours later to ask what was happening. They sent another guy to check if the first guy was right. He came and said the compressor was dead but they could replace it for free under the terms of our prepaid contract. The next morning, the manager called and said it will cost $5000 to replace the entire unit. He said they do NOT repair old units...(of course, that would cost them money and justify our prepaid contract) We still have not been contacted by anyone about when they could install a new unit!!! Their GOLD brochure says you get concierge service when you buy the contract...Ha! I have already arranged with another company to install a new unit today...one phone call. Just our advice...save your money and DO NOT buy a service agreement from these people. Their customer service is absolutely non existant. read more

I have been a Home-Tech customer for over a year now, and I have to say, they are absolutely wonderful. I have been having issues with my oven and dishwasher and needed repair, fast. Home-Tech was able to get my an appointment right away. The serviceman who facilitated the repair was SO nice, professional and clean cut. These are good guys, and very trustworthy. This operation is highly unethical. I needed a 30 gal water heater replaced. The heater is under warranty. The wanted to replace the expansion tank for $87, said I need to pay for a permit for $107, pay for warranty service for $75. Then wanted another $650 to actually do the work. My local maintenance person did the job for half the price including a $50 warranty fee and rebuilding the door do the new tank would fit. Do not hire these guys. read more

My dryer was not functioning and a Home Tech service technician indicated that a part needed to be ordered. I paid a service visit charge and a deposit for the part to be ordered. I was informed the following day that the part was no longer available and my deposit would be refunded. After a week, I called to find out why my deposit was not yet refunded - I was told it was in process. After two weeks and no refund, I called and was told someone would contact me about the refund - I received no callback. After a month and no refund, I called again and was told the service manager would contact me - he never did.
