When I came to Home Place Interiors I did so thinking I was going to have a quality experience and flooring product installed in my home. I specifically stated that my husband and I did not want flooring that looked like long rubber strips. John came to our home and brought lovely hard bound - grooved timber style flooring samples and we agreed on one. The samples that were presented to me were not the product I saw being used and already 2/3rds installed by noon on Monday, January 25, 2011. I immediately called John indicating that this was not the product we had discussed and that a laminent was exactly what my husband and I did not want. He stated that "people get them mixed up all the time" and that "with dogs in my house this is the product he thinks I should have." I can only say that we are extremely disappointed with the product as it is something we could have picked up ourselves at Lowe's or Sam's and laid over a weekend and at a fraction of the cost. Not to mention that there is a mound at the rear entry door where the floor was floated over the existing tile, and areas of lift throughout the room that I was told by one of your installers would settle once the materials acclimated themselves to my environment. In coming to a professional interior design and installation service I had certainly expected more, but instead have come away from this experience extremely disappointed. We have learned to live with the floor for now and are in the process of trying to decide how to get rid of it and what we should do next. This certainly is not what we intended when we sought your services as we thought we were buying an improvement to our home, but instead we have a daily reminder of what we didn't want. read more

I wanted to replace my worn out tile floor in our kitchen. I cook all the time and wanted a floor that was easy to care for. I went to Home Place, took a bunch of samples of Acura vinyl floor tile home. Once I decided on my favorite, John ordered the floor and I had it installed. GORGEOUS, EASY CARE floor. I gave 1 Star because it wouldn't let me give no stars. I am shocked at the unprofessional manner of the owner John! The way he spoke to me today was shocking! Let me explain ... I came in to choose wallpaper - first time in 25 yrs. I picked one I thought might work and ordered it. When the carpet came in I checked it against the wallpaper and it was not a match, so I decided on a different paper and was about to order it when the gal, Stephanie, told me there was a 25% restock fee. This was the first I heard! I mean I hadn't paid anything or signed anything at all. So after she told me "I should know" because its standard I asked to speak to owner John. John called me back, hateful and completely disrespectful! He cut me off he told me I was a failed business owner when I mentioned I did not practice this, when I was in business. He then threatened to take me to court! Told me the judge would laugh at me? First off, again no papers signed, no monies given at all. Second I have never had a manager / owner come at me before I barely said anything! I prayed with my husband and we decided to pay the fee and go elsewhere! So I did that and then tried to look at the book to get name of paper I wanted! Well John come over and snapped what are you doing? When I told him he snatched the book out of my hand and told me to go somewhere they had a book! Unreal! I said "You are the rudest person I ever met" and he just nodded and said yup smirking at me! I would never do business with this man or at this store! I would have spent money there as there is much more we are doing at home, but over $65 he yelled at me and grabbed a book out of my hands?! I have worked with John Proctor for over 15 years and have recommended his business several times. After having Home Place put the flooring in our new office space, I used another cheaper place for an additional room later on. That carpet installation was horrible and the quality was subpar. We now call Home Place only. I was very hesitant when John recommended vinyl plank for our office hallways last year but have loved them so much we had him put the flooring in our entire house except the bedrooms. The installers are the best and professional - leaving my house put back together and the floors cleaned up. I also shopped all over for an area rug and was able to buy a very nice piece of carpet that they bound. The price for the carpet, binding and pad was less than what I would have paid for boring area rug. I am sorry that previous reviews were not good. I had a very poor experience with Home Place Interiors and in particular John Proctor, the owner. He was recommended by my builder so I did flooring and backsplash for my entire house. The first time I met him things went well and he seemed like a good guy, but as our relationship progressed it became evident he was a business man. When asking questions about type of carpet he would struggle to give me a straight answer and he contradicted himself from my first visit to my second visit. He decided what I should get and seemed to tell me anything to get me to buy it. He told me my floors were indestructible...they are not..they scratch easier than hardwood...which I had to beg him to show me. He really didn't want me getting hardwood. Then the price...it was outrageous. He never would give me a price at the store..then him and the builder went and installed everything and sends me an invoice which was thousands more than I was anticipating. When I questioned the invoice the builder sent me, John called and was confrontational. I really regret giving him my business. Also, the same backsplash I bought is on home depot's website for less than 3/4 of what I paid him. read more
